• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

You live in ND, chaotic? This whole time I just assumed you live in Chicago... I don't even know why. When I think cities, i don't think of North Dakota. I need to travel more...

Nobody thinks of North Dakota when they think of cities, just farmland (or Minnesota) :p it is indeed so much smaller than other states though.

I'm feel sad today, I don't know why, just sad at life in general, sad that sin keeps on going, sad at the lies ruling.

I know that feeling brother. The bible teaches us to look toward heaven, at the unseen things. Easier said than done, i know.

I know how you feel. I feel really happy when I go to church then when the weekdays come, I become depressed. It may be because I'm not actively doing that much. I hope you feel better. You should go out and enjoy the weather there in Oz. I cannot do this because it is cold here and snowy. I like the sun since it makes me feel happy. I really miss the sun. Here, it is cloudy and cold most of the time. I am hoping that it will all dissipate soon. You should do things to keep your mind off your depression. I just watched a weird movie called Project Grey. I don't recommend it since it was weird. May be you can watch a good movie at home. I also like watching tv especially food programs. I watch them and salivate over the good food the programs present. hahaha.I eat boxed lunches and instant noodles a lot now and want to eat some delicious gourmet food once in awhile. I like eating out at restaurants. I hope you feel better soon. I am just biding my time until I go out again on Friday. I sleep and eat most of the time and am trying to keep warm. I am sure you are in better weather conditions than I am and can do much outside. I am planning to go out more once it becomes warmer. I like walking outside and enjoying nature. I hope that your sadness goes away and that you feel better already. For me just thinking about warm weather and eating good food makes me happy. Simple things in life make me happy. I hope you can find something to lift your spirits. God bless!

Had a bit of a bad start today, woke up and found that I could not open a troublesome water bottle (which I needed to drink from in order to take my medicine) and I had nosebleed in class.

Thank you for replying,

I used to hike all the time but don't find much pleasure in it any more now. It is beautiful here in Albany none the less, but somehow hiking doesn't appeal to me any more. I lost interest in all activity when I went on medication, its a real pain.

It is true that keeping busy really helps against depressive feelings but I feel completely unmotivated when I'm down, drained and tired and often physically ill with often severe nausea. 9 times out of 10 I'm physically ill when I'm feeling depressed.
Neither have I watched a movie in years, I can't, unless it is a kids movie, I find that movies stir me up the wrong way, especially the music they play during more exciting parts riles me right up. Movies are no good for my emotional state that's for sure so I steer right away from them. I can't read books any more either, ever after I had ECT done my ability to concentrate has been severely hampered.

I do listen to music, the Sons of Korah or Sherri Youngward are my favourites when I'm depressed because they sing right from Scripture and such is really up building when I'm down.

Luckily my depression doesn't last long these days often just a few days, or when it is bad a week, but that is usually the longest it lasts. I suppose when you really analyse it I'm constantly in a depressed mode when I take all the symptoms into account, but it isn't half as bead as it used to be, because God's love has made me so much stronger to cope with depressive spirit.

Thank you very much for your concern.

You are indeed strong. It just struck me how you are almost always attacked from all sides at once. I couldn't maintain half as well as you do; I can barely handle one thing at a time.

I'm sorry you feel sad. We all sin as humans, it is very human. It's certainly not your fault that it happens. What lies are ruling?

Jeshu,

Curiousity got the better of me. I had to find out where Albany was. You weren't kidding when you said you were in the Southwest.

My map shows a big green water tank on Melville Dr. Looks like a nice city. Only one problem, though. You guys drive in the wrong side of the road!

I almost immigrated to Brisbane in 1971 but realized I was just a kid with no real skills except being a drummer and I was trying to run away from one of the most painful times of my life.:sigh:

I'm feeling depressed again. I feel like the time I have with my friends is so short, and they're usually too busy for me. I'm worried that when they all graduate and head off to California or Japan or God knows where, I'll be left at home, all alone. Where am I supposed to go and live? I don't know yet. Emailing them a million times a day just won't be satisfying. I don't want to be alone in the future.

Its good to value relationships because they will be in our memories forever. Dont worry brother, life is full of change, and God will take care of us.

Yeah, but it's just so depressing to think that God could be my only friend. :(
