Wishing people good luck

Is this a christian thing to do?
The bible doesnt say anything about luck or chance, blessings from God are blessings, not random good fortune.

Just wondering what you thought and whether you get the feeling, as i do, when others are wishing you good luck it isnt such a good thing after all. For example, you apply for a job and the HR person responds months later saying you didnt get it and was only advertising to get people interested in their website, they actually dont have any situations vacant.

And then they say good luck with your job search.

Im thinking. Huh. How would you respond?

Actually nobody got hired. It was a scam.

I dont like to say good luck either. I would rather say blessings to you.
I know people say it sarcastically like you have a snowballs chance in hell.

I think its more polite to say, you have my prayers, or sorry we dont have any vacancies anymore they were taken thank you for applying best wishes.

Not you were unsuccesful and please note it wasnt an actual job application we were just seeing if people were using the website! I thought it was a rotten thing to do to advertise jobs when there are none. You send in all your personal details etc to someone you dont even know.

Im not doing that again. My thought are if your parents or relatives dont have a job for you do then youre not meant to work. As a father or husband who does not provide for his own household is worse than an infidel. Women have plenty of housework to do at home without putting themselves at the mercy of unscrupulous employers, which many are.

Oh ok..
I think starting up your own business is a good idea for a lot of people because the bible says to study and be quiet and do the work of your own hands...not someone elses work.


So something like an apprenticeship is prolly the best way to learn.

I guess it depends on your family if they are christians they would have good business practices and even if not they arent likely to abuse you if you have a good relationship with them.

Which is why working for some huge corporations or govt can be dispiriting. Or mammon. Ive been in both public and private sector and I just find the way both go about work in many ways is unethical.

But then, people with a trade go might go and work for someone else, ie. Like they will fix something and then they dont get paid which is also bad.

So many dodgy ppl in the building trade these days I heard.

Or people expecting you do do things and not pay you a fair wage for the hard work you do. The bible says not to muzzle the ox that is spreading out the corn. The ox needs to eat too.

Well nobody was meant to work for them as it was a scam. It wasnt just me, i dont think anybody was getting jobs. Employers often advertise but they have already chosen people internally, but they say they need to advertise externally mostly to keep HR employed.

Thats the way most govt related jobs are advertised, because of constant 'restructuring' which basically means that everyone whos employed has to apply again to keep their jobs. They will then let go of people they dont want.

I just said good luck back to them with their own jobs in HR. Obviously they didnt need anybody. It was just a way to keep them cresatively employed. Create work and job ads for jobs that doesnt even exist.

Public sector is the worst to work for as you spend all your time doing nothing useful.

When you tied down to a job like a contract that means you cannot really live for the Lord, your attentions are going to be divided esp if your employer is not a christian. But the bible says that if we are set free out of bondage to not go back there. Also once we know the truth, we are free indeed.

I was brought up in a working class environment. That meant you were always going to be a slave for someone else, always working your butt off. I never dreamed that God would have a sabbath rest for me and that He was not concerned with my cv as so much of the world wants us to believe.
