That is obvious.

Nobody accused you of such. i find it funny that you resort to the same inflammatory language that Trump uses as i stated above.

That you don't understand the first part of my statement causes your confusion. You assume that Trump is all that you accuse him of without proof.

A racist could not survive in the business world. Witness the former owner of the San Diego Clippers.

Actually, I think the idea of the owner of the San Diego Clippers actually proves the opposite point. The facts are that he was a tremendously successful businessman, apparently his racist views never caused any issues for him in the business world. Basically, it was an affair that caused his problems; when he upset his girlfriend, she released the tapes that proved he was racist. Even then, it was largely only the fact that he was "newsworthy," as the owner of the Clippers, that it became news. Chances are if he was just a rich businessman, and not a sports franchise owner, it wouldn't even have made the news and he'd have no issues continuing to do business as usual.

I'm wrong about what, exactly? I never claimed that not enforcing petty crimes wouldn't make a difference, that seems to be a strawman of what I stated that you felt you could knock down.

Instead, I pointed out that the vast majority of Americans break traffic laws (and any number of other laws) with seeming impunity. Yet the vast majority of those citizens don't break more serious laws -- they don't commit serious crimes.

It was your claim that illegal aliens are more likely to break the law simply because they already broke the law to get here. My point was merely if breaking the law made you likely to break more serious laws, then most every American would have been at least charged with a major crime. More to the point, as others have pointed out here, the facts don't back your claim. Instead, we find that illegal aliens commit serious crimes at a much lower rate than people here legally.

To go back to your strawman, I actually support the idea of being more aggressive in prosecuting "petty" crimes. Respect for the law seems to be something many (or even most) Americans seem to have lost in my lifetime -- at least partially because of how the law seems to be randomly applied, rather than consistently enforced.

As for illegal immigration, I do think it should be enforced but that Trump is wrong in how to go about it. What we need to do is remove the incentive for illegal immigrants to come (remember the part about Americans frequently breaking the law by hiring illegal immigrants). We should require businesses, and even individuals looking to hire someone, to use e-Verify -- to verify the person is legally allowed to work in the US. If illegal immigrants can't find work, they aren't going to be risking their lives (and the little money they have) to come to the United States.
I can post stats as well:

An FBI crime study also shows heavy illegal alien involvement in criminal activity revealed these statistics:

  • 75 percent of those on the most wanted criminals list in Los Angeles, Phoenix and Albuquerque are illegal aliens.
  • One quarter of all inmates in California detention centers are Mexican nationals, as are more than 40 percent of all inmates in Arizona and 48 percent in New Mexico jails.
  • Over 53 percent of all investigated burglaries reported in California, New Mexico, Nevada, Arizona, and Texas are perpetrated by illegal aliens.
  • 63 percent of cited drivers in Arizona have no license, no insurance and no registration for the vehicle. Of that number, 97 percent are illegal aliens. 66 percent of cited drivers in New Mexico have no license, no insurance and no registration for the vehicle. Of that 66 percent, 98 percent are illegal aliens.[15]

I can see with my own eyes the difference in 20 years make with illegal immigration in the surrounding cities and neighborhoods.

I see a Trump administration ending in some combination of these three things:

1) World War III
2) The United States becoming an isolationist nation due to alienating our allies and somehow eliminating our enemies with no retaliation.
3) An actual military and governmental coup d'etat

I don't.

I'd be interested in seeing a source for those claims. Your linked article is hardly unbiased, not to mention very few of their links work. For example, if you check the citation for #15, which you quoted above, it takes you to a page that says "Uh-oh," and gives you a 404 error. As for the claims made, I'm having a difficult time tracking down the original source for pretty much any of those claims.

Common sense is simply wrong on this one; we have actual data.

https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/volokh-conspiracy/wp/2015/07/14/immigration-and-crime/
http://nypost.com/2015/07/10/trumps-facts-on-mexicans-and-crime-are-just-wrong/

And speaking of common sense, wouldn't it make sense that someone who could be deported if they were noticed by law enforcement would try very hard to keep their head down and their nose clean?

You know, we've tried this before in Europe. It typically ends very poorly.

It cites WND; I don't see any need to take its figures seriously.
If y'all don't know how crazily unreliable a source WorldNetDaily is, here are some of its articles:

OUR ONLY HOPE
Exclusive: Janet Porter sees May 1 as 'repentant remnant' as key to saving America

Unless our judges answer the cry of the Constitution from 80 percent of America’s states that are challenging this draconian federal mandate, brace yourself for: government-run health care with rationing, euthanasia, tax-funded abortion, home visits by government officials to oversee childbearing, microchips implanted in people, IRS control and a private army to act against American citizens at Obama’s beck and call imposed on all of America (with the exception of Barack Obama and those in Congress who voted for it and the staffers who drafted it). [...] After that, be looking for a food shortage – another crisis you can rest assured Obama won’t let go to waste. What happens when the government steps in to "rescue" the food industry? I would suggest you ask the survivors of such occurrences in Russia and Germany, but most all of them aren’t around, of course. They were starved to death. In World War II, we faced the National Socialist Party in Germany. Now we face it at home.

OBAMA'S WILLIE HORTON PLAN: RELEASE ALL MURDERERS
Exclusive: Pat Boone sounds alarm over freeing of criminal aliens, Gitmo terrorists

There’s a different scenario unfolding in this country we love, right before our eyes, and we’re reading about it in the daily papers and seeing it on the nightly news broadcasts. What if our elected leadership had decided America no longer deserved to be leader of the free world, should have its military and its programs reduced to ineffectual status, our vibrant economy bankrupted, and that our republic should be "fundamentally transformed" into a virtual socialist, if not outright communist, society?

WILL OBAMA ORDER MILITARY ATTACK ON ISRAEL?
Exclusive: Tom Tancredo on potential Iran-defending action: "Who would stop him?"

Would anyone be surprised to see this headline in the spring or summer of 2016: "Obama orders military attack on Israel / blocks Israeli strike at Iran / Iran grateful"? Like it or not, there is an increasing likelihood we will see that kind of headline before Obama leaves office.

EXPERTS: PASSOVER BLOOD MOON ARRIVES AT DARK MOMENT
Religious leaders cite links between heavenly signs, political scenarios

If it’s a coincidence, it’s an astounding one. An ominous "Blood Moon" appearing at the same time the Obama administration is boasting of a nuclear agreement with Iran that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu says endangers the very survival of the Jewish state.

BOMB MECCA OFF THE FACE OF THE EARTH
Exclusive: Bart Prelutsky says Islamists 'have been asking for it for over 1,400 years'

My own politically incorrect suggestion is that we remove ISIS from the face of the earth, hopefully as a joint effort with every other nation it has threatened or attacked, and that we then bomb Mecca off the face of the earth, not concerning ourselves in the least with collateral damage, letting the Muslims know once and for all that our God is far more powerful and, yes, vengeful than their own puny deity.

The founder of this nutcase website, Joseph Farah, is the man who advised Donald Trump about the birther "conspiracy" when Trump was "investigating" Obama's place of birth. Rick Santorum, Herman Cain, and Bill O'Reilly have been regular columnists for it. Ben Carson is still one of its regular columnists. James Inhofe, the elected senator who threw a snowball last February to disprove global warming and chairs the Senate Environment Committee, published his science-denying book (The Greatest Hoax: How the Global Warming Conspiracy Threatens Your Future) through WorldNetDaily Books. Seriously, what has happened to the Republican Party?...

Give me a break! Please. :dead:

Next I'll be reading that it's meant as a compliment.
Oh, it's definitely meant as an insult. My point was that it isn't slander if it's true. The OP made an effort to back up his claims, and you were dismissing the argument on the basis that it was mean. If you think someone is vile because of the things they've said and done, you're not wrong to point those things out when that person is running for public office.

That does not mean that all sources are of equal trustworthiness. If you link to something that cites a conspiracy website (as the mentioned website appears to be), you can't expect to be taken seriously by people who are not similarly inclined.

Perhaps I could have phrased it better but I think most people see my point (such as dzheremi points out). The fact is the claims they make are unsupported. Again, if you have citations for what is claimed -- particularly what you quoted -- I'd love to see them. Without the citations the webpage is useless as a source (much as if I made a blog post and stated a bunch of things and claimed them as fact, it would also be worthless as a source).

I find no reason to believe you post since it easy to mislead with stats as well. (of course those who are here illegal will less likely to report crime amongst themselves.) I've seen the media trying to mislead people especially when it comes to Islam and immigration so when it comes to any immigrations stats I would take it as a grain of salt while common sense and what I see around me in the last few decades that those who come here illegally will do other illegally things while those who tries to come here legally will more likely to obey our laws. Why do you think nations have immigration laws the start with? No only do illegals like to do more illegal things but they get others involved as well. We had two locate cities licenses plate shut down for a couple years because they were caught giving out plates to illegals.

It's the same with the study many years ago that pointed out that those who doesn't shack up before marriage has a higher change of staying together then those who shack up before they get married. You don't need a study to know this .. those who are committed before marriage will more likely stay committed after they get married.

Yes, but it's clearly not.

The words used in the title here cannot be defended from a factual standpoint. There are definitions behind these terms. It's not like calling someone a "jerk" for instance, which is quite subjective.

Why do you care so much more about the title (on which I think you're imposing an undue standard of literalism) than the loads of evidence I gave that he's a terrible person to elect President?

Terrible person? You're perfectly entitled to say that because it's a generalization and you are entitled to an opinion about who's admirable and who's not.

But the title supposedly goes with the OP, and in the title are accusations that are not defensible because they are not true.

If someone were to call Mr. X a 'child molester,' for example, I would think you'd say that it does matter whether he'd ever actually molested anyone or not, right? This particular charge is not the equivalent of calling someone unqualified or irritating or disgusting, which are purely value judgments.

There are some good reasons Trump would be a good president though. For instance, no other candidate wants to bring manufacturing back to the US, except Trump. Also, unlike other candidates, Trump puts American citizens above foreigners...

...IMO, all the other candidates view people as people, no matter where they're from. There is no one who cares about the American citizen, specifically, above the rest.

But it could be that this is why some don't like him. Because they don't like the idea of a strong America. Or maybe they want the US to be 'equal' to all other nations... Just my thoughts.

Just want to ask again: Does anyone think the things I insulted Trump for are okay? Does anyone think it's acceptable that Trump's policies contradict each other, or that he doesn't know France and Denmark have higher taxes than America, or that he thinks global warming is a massive hoax? I'd rather talk about his credibility as a candidate than whether I personally used distasteful/hyperbolic language, which isn't what the thread is supposed to be about.
No the comments he made are not okay. I asked repeatedly for someone to respond to the actual comments, and that person then disappeared from the thread rather than respond. So the actual comments have been bypassed and the thread has now devolved to how it's bad to call someone a racist. It's pathetic quite honestly. It's actually bad to be a racist, but don't let that bother anyone.

Quite a few of the posts that are hostile towards Trump come from people who are not Americans, so there is good reason for thinking that they're opposed because it might mean an end to America being "Uncle Sucker."
