Hey all, well I seem to have found myself in quite the pickle. I want to make sure a certain family member knows Christ, but I can't find the right words to start a meaningful conversation that doesn't end in jovial awkwardness or me walking away wanting to kick myself in the mouth...here are the deets.

I am a painfully shy little bugger and have a major stuttering problem. This makes talking hard sometimes, and it is magnified tenfold when I'm nervous. So imagine how I sound when I try to talk things Jesus...

I need ideas on what to say to start a good conversation about surety of salvation... questions I can ask to assess the person's knowledge of what it means to be saved. Does that make any sense? The person says they believe in God, but I want to be sure, ya know? What can I ask them to be sure?

Any and ALL tips, ideas, advice, wisdom is GREATLY appreciated.

Blessings in Jesus name. <3

I would just pray for them. The bible says when you witness the Holy Spirit will speak through you. For me this comes as sensible thoughts in my mind. Just scriptures, or testimonies I can share. Beware of listening to impressions that are unknown, sometimes Satan will try to trick you into saying something to embarrass you, he might force you to prophecy something that is not of God, so the person thinks you are mad. Only say that which is safe.

me and some members of my church went out to an evangelism outreach lately. One of our members was talking to 2 atheists, and I had it filmed and uploaded them that I can show you. It is in 3 parts. I didnt focus the camera on them because I dont know if the people we were talking to would be ok with it. I wanna show you is this, because it might help, not sure it will but maybe. She doesnt claim to have the gift or talent for evangelism. But from what i observe, though she doesnt believe she is gifted in evangelism, i decided to experiment to see if her talking to people might help or not. Let me know if it does or not. This video has parts 2 and 3, you can look at it at my youtube account if you wish. On this video below, most of her talking is seen after past time of 6 minutes. But before that, there are some too

I think the if you are honest and genuine people have no objection to you talking about christ. Instead of talking about yourself, talk about others beliefs. People are looking fòr genuinely loving people. Be one and you will speak volumes about Christ. Soon after I accepred Christ, my step father wanted to know what had happened to me, because he saw a massive difference. He wanted what I had and became a faithful follower of christ as a result.

If someone you loved was in a terrible accident and their life was in danger, what would you do? Or rather how would you feel? Would you be calm? Would you be panicked? What would your mindset be?

In no way am I implying anything negative but having that sense of desperation all the while being meek helps when witnessing to others. Being meek comes with accepting Christ, i know the definition :) but I view it as controlled power. Prayer is the most important thing, GOD can and will do most of it for you.

As the daughter of the person :) they probably know this fact about you too. So if they see you power through it with your courage and conviction it will not be lost on them. If it is, point it out lol so they they know this is important to you.

There is no right or wrong way to witness to others but i strongly suggest you pray and ask our Father for wisdom before you have that conversation. Being in the right state of mind will allow the HS to speak through you. Only you and the HS know what to say to the one you are witnessing too. You know the person better than anyone here, the HS will give you insight into how the other person thinks, what is important to them, what makes them who they are. All of those things factor into how and what to say. Unfortunately there is no pick up line that you can use in this instance :)

I recommend the book "Questioning Evangelism." You ask questions to find out what they believe. And you ask questions and pray they will see the root issues. At some point you can be direct in answering questions, but it's not necessary from the beginning. People love talking about themselves and their opinions, and it's hard to understand how to talk to someone without learning more about how they think. It helps you to pray for them more specifically, too.

God created a perfect world (Genesis 1).

Man sinned against God (Genesis 3).

Sin brought death (physical and spiritual) to all men (Romans 5:12), and a curse over the entire creation (Romans 8:19-22).

Sin separates man from a holy (perfectly pure) God.

A blood sacrifice is necessary to cover sin, because the life of a creature is in the blood (Leviticus 17:11, Hebrews 9:22). The first blood sacrifice was when God killed animals to make clothes of skin to cover Adam and Eve's nakedness/shame (Genesis 3:21).

God promised a Savior (first time: Seed of the woman, Genesis 3:15) who would overcome the curse Satan instigated. The Seed was prophesied to descend from Abraham (Genesis 22:18) and David (1 Chronicles 17:11-14) and be born of a virgin (Isaiah 7:14)... (many other prophecies, too)

Jesus is he Passover Lamb (1 Corinthians 5:7, John 1:29, Exodus 12). When the Father sees us hiding behind His blood, He passes over us and does not see our sins or destroy us for them.

Jesus was born of a virgin (Luke 1-2).

Jesus was fully man and fully God, and was tempted but was without sin (Matthew 4). Because He was holy, and we as sons and daughters of Adam are not, He alone could be a substitute for us.

Jesus died on the cross for the forgiveness of sins (ours), was buried, and He rose again on the third day. (The ultimate and final blood sacrifice.)

Salvation involves repentence (Matthew 9:13) from sins and belief (or faith) in Jesus' sacrifice for the forgiveness of sins (Romans 10:9-10).

Paul lays out in the basics of the gospel in 1 Corinthians 15.

Jesus will come again and take away the curse. Those who died in Christ will be raised from the dead to live in Christ forevermore (spiritual and physical bodies). After the end of this world, people will be with the Lord in Heaven or separated from Him forever in the Lake of Fire (Revelation 20).

Sorry if that was long winded, but the most important thing is to pray for your unbelieving family members and friends that the Holy Spirit would help them understand and embrace the gospel.

As far as gauging understanding, they have to understand that they are a sinner and that there's no way for them to earn salvation by good deeds (Romans 3). They have to believe in Jesus' divinity, sinlessness, death, burial and resurrection, and that trusting in Jesus alone is the only way to receive forgiveness for sins. You can't judge a person's heart, but the book of 1 John helps people test their own hearts to see if they are in the faith. There will be many who claim to be Christians but aren't. Christians are known by their fruit - their obedience to Jesus and reflection of Him.
