What's your room like, and how would you change it if you could

Wow, I created this thread back in AUGUST, and unless you can count Christmas decorations I've yet to take down and an explosion of art supplies everywhere, I still haven't altered the look at all. I'd planned on repainting my room a serene sky gray because I feel like it's time to evolve my style beyond the Shrek green walls. I'd created an album with pics ages ago and neglected to post the link to it here to show you how GREEN they truly are. http://www.christianforums.com/users/354769-albums5991/

I'm so sentimental about my room, though, that I haven't made any changes. I have murals of vines with flowers and songbirds all around my room, and I love them even though they're a bit juvenile.

Props to Jennae, who is my friend in real life, for the cleverly creative idea to "frame" a portion of my green walls and change the rest.

Thank you for the recent posts to this thread. :)

It would be fun to see a pic if you're still up for sharing one!!!! Your room sounds really nice.

Is this a temporary arrangement or a long-term one?

Ha. It still cracks me up that I knew this was your sister's post, before I even knew she'd made the account on here, by the room description. :D

The link to your pictures doesn't work anymore. Your video is password protected now. I'm assuming you're talking about your room at your dad's house because I know it from the description, and I've been to the one at your mom's house. It's very elegant. I think having one sophisticated room & one that is more sentimental is nice. You have your dorm room too plus the room at the lake. So many rooms to decorate, and you still like decorating other people's rooms, lol. I just have one. Did you ever make big changes to your green room? Maybe you could make changes to the other room and then keep that one the way it is, at least until the move.

This is a fun thread.

I will add some more pictures below since the link is now defunct. :) I created this thread in August of 2014 when I was contemplating redecorating my room at my dad's house because I felt that I had outgrown it, but all its sentimental charm is why I'm now grateful I never made significant changes in the time since. I did update my bedding (but do not have a picture of it to show here) but I couldn't depart with my Bella Swan inspired duvet cover because of the memories attached to it, haha. It's more middle school than college, but I brought it up here for the summer session and ended up leaving it at the condo. Now that I'm off at school the green room feels like a keepsake to my cherished past when I return home. My parents are selling that house, and I'm going to genuinely miss it and my room. It's not just the decor of it that is endearing to me, but the quirky layout (not well reflected well in the pictures) and the lovely views (also not captured in the pictures), and all the happy memories created there.

The color is a bit off on this one:

This was taken in 2014 when I had the old bedding and the rather ugly pillow I used when I was playing guitar on my bed, haha:

I think your room is really pretty, Ella! Do you play the electric guitar too?

I do, though not very skillfully yet.

If you don't have ears that are prone to bleeding you can listen to a backing track I just recorded to use for the song I'm making for my boyfriend's Valentine day present. We both use Arcade Fire's Wake Up as our alarm clock song, and I am making a cover of it so he can wake up to me, haha. That track is definitely a very rough first draft. I'm going to give it another go tomorrow. When I've got my voice back I'll record the vocal tracks, and then the violin and mandolin tracks and will hopefully have it all finished to edit it together in Garage Band on time. :)

Does anybody have any tips for organizing your room? My mom likes everything to be perfect all the time but it's hard keeping it that way.

The 1st thing I would do is to declutter. I used to have a ton of stuff in my room. A lot of knick knacks. Books I hadn't read in yrs & wasn't going to read again. Clothes I rarely wore. When we moved into this house I just gave a lot of things away. Now that there's way less stuff in my room I have less to dust off & put away. It's easier to find things in my closet now that it's not so crammed full.

You should share pics of your rooms at your mom house & the lake. I like the one at the lake the most. Where did you get your big mirror there? I want more mirrors in my room. They're supposed to reflect light. My room feels gloomy bc it's been so gray outside.

Well so my room has a bed, piano, guitar (Can't play any of the instruments), the bed is clean, as is the floor. I have a desk with school supplies laying on top. I have a closet where a dead body could be laying there, who knows, I don't dare open it (lol JK). I have a couple trophies laying around and a slot machine. I have an old poster of Spiderman on the wall, and am embarrassed about it whenever my friends come by. I have a TV on the wall, a record player, a box of records on the floor. Not to mention two dead rats in the corner ( JK).

That describes the current state of my closet too, hahaha. The rest of my room is spotless because I just pick up everything and throw it in there, then close the door. :D

And don't be embarrassed about the old poster of Spiderman on the wall, I have one of SpongeBob on my bathroom door.
