There's the fictitious and the historic Illuminati. What with the history the Illuminati carved out for itself at one time, it's hard to imagine they'd have just quit their pursuit. Rather, I think the fictitious that is promoted in conspiracy circles today is probably not even grounded in anything of a historic nature as pertains to the actual brotherhood.
While the reformed historic Illuminati would be intelligent enough to be still active if they did continue from the historic point and to avoid detection due to the reputation history painted them with. And in that case, I don't think it impossible that there is a controlling force within the music business.
People are programmed in their emotional responses through audio-visual stimuli. These stimulants engage the emotional centers and also record in the objective subconscious.
Consider Britney Spears early career videos. She started out dressed as a school girl but in sleazy attire. As did Christiana Aguilar. Then when their careers took off those subtle sexy images dropped to full on harlot singing lyrics about sex and seduction. Whereas before they were implied passions.
Look at Miley Cyrus. She's a train wreck today after coming from, as did Spears and Aguilar, a Disney background and the character Hannah Montana.
And there's interviews with the talent themselves that inform of a malevolent influence in the business having an affect on their careers.
It's a multi-billion dollar industry. Money is primary. Talent is expendable and transient.
