Proverbs 3:
5 Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.

6 In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.

7 Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the Lord, and depart from evil.

8 It shall be health to thy navel, and marrow to thy bones.

I know God loves me so I can trust Him and tell others of His loving kindness. I don't have to act like I know everything because He is my wisdom. Therefore I am healthy physically, mentally and spiritually.

With the passing of @Swan7 's friend, it's probably most pertinent that we're studying Proverbs 3 today.

For many people, when someone close to us passes we sometimes ask "Why?" Why them? Why now? I trust I'm not the only person to have asked those questions before and instinctively I may ask them again.. then we read 3:5 which tells us "Trust in the Lord with all your heart And do not lean on your own understanding".

In many cases faith can be epitomised by that. There's a lot we don't know, won't know or simply can't know. We have to trust in the Lord.

In another context, 3:5 is reinforced and made even more pertinent and powerful by 3:7 -- "Do not be wise in your own eyes; Fear the Lord and turn away from evil." This again highlights our own instinct to rationalise things in our own understanding when sometimes we just can't. What we see may confuse us but we trust nonetheless in the authority of His Word and not ourselves being wise.

3:13 carries on from chapter 1 in reiterating that wisdom is a blessing.

I also think 3:30 is important as well. "Do not contend with a man without cause, If he has done you no harm".

If I may touch a bit more on this...
Before the news my sister had me sit down while on the phone with her. After the telling me what had happened she told me that she was angry with God and the "why" of it. As shocked as I was, a thought came to mind: Why be angry with Him? Why is it even a "process" to get angry with God in grieving? To me, that just wasn't right and not the right mind of thinking of what we should know about God.

As Proverbs 3 has stated in many different ways, trust in the LORD with everything; heart, mind and soul. Even writing it upon your heart and wearing His commandments (His Word) about our necks. With my friend's passing, I have to trust Him with her.

This Chapter (for those who can see my signature) has been a favorite for me a long time. It is also one I pass along to those having a difficult time understanding G-d and what he does or doesn't do and why.

I think this is our biggest thing to do , to trust Him. But first let's note that again we are reminded to:

My son, do not forget my teaching, but keep my commands in your heart,
2
for they will prolong your life many years and bring you prosperity.

3 Let love and faithfulness never leave you; bind them around your neck, write them on the tablet of your heart.

4 Then you will win favor and a good name in the sight of God and man.

Not forget, by following these proverbs your life will be prolonged. This is something we find in Torah

Preceeding the Shema which Yeshua/Jesus quoted

"Now this is the commandment, the statutes and the judgments which the L-RD your God has commanded me to teach you, that you might do them in the land where you are going over to possess it, 2 so that you and your son and your grandson might fear the L-RD your God, to keep all His statutes and His commandments which I command you, all the days of your life, and that your days may be prolonged.

5 Trust in the L-RD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding;
6 in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.
7 Do not be wise in your own eyes; fear the LORD and shun evil.
8 This will bring health to your body and nourishment to your bones.

I have always interpreted this as knowing we have free will, and we are free to choose to do as we want, however if we Love G-d even if we don't understand all his ways we are to trust that He not only knows what is best for us but knows our every living breath, our every day on earth and we need to turn over our lives to Him let him lead us even without understanding just knowing, trusting he will do good for us. Doing so brings up a good life.

I am running a bit behind...but I just wanted to say I absolutely adore this section of Proverbs 3.
I find I have to constantly come back to these 3 verses or am brought back to them. If I have a life verse(s) it's this.
"Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him,
and he will make straight your paths. Be not wise in your own eyes; fear the Lord, and turn away from evil."

In reading Proverbs 3, verse 7 stood out for me:

"Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the LORD, and depart from evil."

Here we have what God abhors, and that is to, in our own pride, do NOT "fear the Lord", and consequently, pompously put themselves and their own "wisdom" above God.

They have no regard or love for God at all. They are living out the very thing that was the downfall of Satan, and then Adam and Eve, and that is "pride".

It is subtle, and it is "deadly".

The man who knows right from wrong, and has good judgment and common sense is happier than the man who is immensely rich!
For such wisdom is far more valuable than precious jewels.
Nothing else compares with it.

In reading Proverbs 3, verse 7 stood out for me:

"Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the LORD, and depart from evil."

It means that when one "fears the Lord", it is a shield against Pride and arrogance, and against all the evil that accompanies both.

Not "fearing the Lord" is the antithesis (opposite) of wisdom.

I was reading "The Joy of Fearing God" by Jerry Bridges, and he mentions James 3:17. And that wisdom from God that He grants to those who "fear" Him, is a preventative, so to speak, to pride, arrogance, and all that accompanies it.

Precious.

Hi,

Hi, (in spelling edits) (done now)

I had a moment of happiness today. Yes it's from God. Yes it was unexpected. Yes it is Toally Like Him, To Do that.

I am very happy that you had one also.

I feel you.

Have I told you that yet.

I feel your relationship to and with God.

Yours is one of my favorite relationships with God.

It is love.

I came here, to see your post. Quickly I almost forgot why. Your post did that.

One of the most difficult aspects of my life, lets me understand males and females, interiorly.

She, Understanding, now feels like a she to me. I have never known, and I do not know yet, if Understanding is a feature of God, only, or whether that feature is also a Creation of God and Made by God also.

Such it is, my thoughts. Such they are.

Today, that understanding, and what I am allowed to do with it, and who benifits from that, SEEMED ENTIRELY FEMININE and beautiful to me, today, for a moment, as though Understanding is also the name, of a spirit creature, without ever being God, too.

Sure God has 'understanding' (and I just thanked Him for something else just a moment ago, here no less,) and properly that should be written as Understanding, because it is His understanding, which is a specific type.

However, in Proverbs, I cannot say that God did not make a female 'creature' by the name of Understanding, that also does contain God's Own 'understanding'.

LOVE,
