Anyone wish to join me for this in the month of December?

Christmas is a point of contention for many people. Well, what better way to say "to heck" with everyone else's opinion and we take the month to delight in His word and glorify Him regardless of whatever the 25th day means to you, me or friends?

@brinny @dreaminofireland @katerinah1947 @Tishri1 @faroukfarouk @Poster0 @SeventyTimes7 @SeekerOfChrist94 @FreeinChrist @Sojourner1 @God's Child @Jesus' Follower @AV1611VET @drstevej @leothelioness

Hi,

Yes, I accept also. One of the nicest things about Jesus and Christmas is that idea that is in The Bible about, out of the mouths of babes, or something like that. It reminds me, how little people know that they are worshiping Jesus, and of course the One Who Sent Him, and The One Who made it possible.

Christmas although an affair God tells us of and reminds us of, because even in God's Life, Jesus is unique, as being the Son, is also about what Jesus is to us, in Biblical and Literal Words also. He is light.

So to me and a few Christmases now, I look at everyone's lights and think of a Different aspect of what Jesus can tell us. I see the lights collectively, all of them together, as more than a representaion of Jesus. I see them as an accidental, 'Out of the mouths of Babes' statement about their love for Jesus. (To me, worship is love, and love is worship. Love is more than that to me, just like Jesus is more than just the Son of God. But love being worship and worship being love, is also a part of worship and love.)

The lights all of them together are telling of the LOVE of Jesus, and the variedness, and the richness, and the beauty of Jesus.

LOVE,

Proverbs is an interesting book of the Bible. Im reading the ESV version and verse 23 stood out to me
23 If you turn at my reproof,
behold, I will pour out my spirit to you;
I will make my words known to you.

Proverbs is an interesting book of the Bible. Im reading the ESV version and verse 23 stood out to me

I liked verse 33

"but whoever listens to me will live in safety and be at ease, without fear of harm" (NIV)

Even in times such as these with all the terrorist attacks, as long as we trust God -- we will be safe.

God intends us to live a good life -- however, this does not mean our lives will be easy. As Christians, we will be persecuted in every aspect of our lives. We must stand up to this and live the good life :)

7 The fear of the L-RD is the beginning of knowledge:

How else can we understand anything around us without truly reverencing the L-RD, His creation, his word?

Verse Proverbs 1:20 speaks of 'Wisdom' as a personage of G-d, The Holy Spirit and it is He/she who is speaking in the following verses.

We can see that here:

'I will pour out my spirit unto you, I will make known my words unto you.'

'But whoso hearkeneth unto me shall dwell safely, and shall be quiet from fear of evil."

This reminds me like David said of dwelling in safety, which goes with another proverb which I'll expand upon when we get to it.:)

One chapter in and already so much important information for the Christian to live an upright life. To think we have 30 more to go! I really enjoyed today's observations and reading :)

1:2-6 lays the foundation for the book. Development of discernment and Godly living.

1:10 forewarns us of sinners trying to entice us. It doesn't just forewarn us, but tells us how to handle it as well; "Do not consent".

I like how succinct that verse is in explaining how we're to kill dead any thought of enticement or following sinners.

1:11 uses two sins illustratively but it applies broadly to all sin. The following verses explain the entrapment by sinners in the promise of wealth/riches.

1:15-16 reiterates not to go with them -- to resist the temptation at the outset.

1:17-19 seems like it is describing the futility of the sinner's lifestyle. They lay traps for the innocent out of sight but ultimately entrap themselves and fall victims of their own greed or sin.

1:20-21 illustrates how readily available wisdom is. It is found in all places for all to find(contrary to the enticement of sinners which is secretive and out of sight sometimes).

1:23 is a really important one! :) Those that repent, God offers wisdom.

1:24-26 is the converse. Those that respond with indifference bring God's wrath.

1:28-32 explains the perils of that. Sinners that leave it too late will seek but ultimately fail to find Him. He abandons them.

1:31 is part of the previous and God leaving the sinners to their own making.

1:32 the naive find judgement in turning away from Him, the fools bring their judgement through complacency.

1:33 those who listen can be at ease; secure.

Proverbs 1 is awesomely riveting...

what i found most intriguing is verse 6:
To understand a proverb, and the interpretation; the words of the wise, and their dark sayings.

where it says "dark sayings" gave me pause, ad then some....maybe because it's described as "dark" sayings....but then i associate it to where it says "words of the wise" and then it sorta hits me that it possibly means "deep" and/or likened to "buried treasure".....

awesome!

Proverbs 1:
8 My son, hear the instruction of thy father, and forsake not the law of thy mother:

9 For they shall be an ornament of grace unto thy head, and chains about thy neck.

I remember the days of my youth when the wise sayings of my mother fell on deaf ears, but I have lived to understand them now, and indeed they are an ornament of grace that I have to pass on to my children and grand children.

That's what I got from it as well. Proverbs 1:11 I immediately thought of bullies, that's exactly how they act!

The book also outlines who needs God's wisdom; fools, the naive and scoffers. Spiritually speaking, I've been all 3! I think it's good at highlighting how far we can observe in ourselves we've come as Christians.

The end of verse 23 really grabbed me. "I will make my words known to you." God will make his word known to us...what a thought. I think all of us can attest to those times when we read a verse time after time and then suddenly it made sense to us. We saw it ad understood what we had overlooked all the times before not because our IQ had suddenly jumped but because the Lord helped us understand, opened our eyes so we could see.

Indeed. I had exactly that with the parable of the sower :)

Hi,

I just got finished after a brutal day online, here at CF. It' nice now to be among fellow "Bible Thumpers"

I am becoming refreshed and feeling most to all of you.

Once I was incredibly wise. I didn't know why.
Then one day my wisdom slipped. I didn't know why.
Then one day, Tishri assailed me. I didn't know why.
Soon wisdom returned. I knew why.

Tishri had me reading Proverbs again.
I knew them once.
I didn't know that this could fade.
Why should it. I have not changed.

It sems though, I need Proverbs again.
It seems even Jesus, I cannot live without.
Is there nothing of God that is permanent in me.
It seems there is not. Maybe so, it will always be.

I wish I had more wisdom here. I do not.

LOVE,

LOVE,

Well if there's anywhere to find it, it's in Proverbs.

How much have we learned from the first chapter alone? It's outstanding really :)

I think I definitely need to make this a monthly endeavour.

An introduction to the Proverbs...

1 The proverbs of Solomon the son of David, king of Israel;
2 To know wisdom and instruction; to perceive the words of understanding;
3 To receive the instruction of wisdom, justice, and judgment, and equity;
4 To give subtilty to the simple, to the young man knowledge and discretion.
5 A wise man will hear, and will increase learning; and a man of understanding shall attain unto wise counsels:
6 To understand a proverb, and the interpretation; the words of the wise, and their dark sayings. - Proverbs 1

In reading Proverbs 1, verses 26-29 stood out for me:

26 I also will laugh at your calamity; I will mock when your fear cometh;
27 When your fear cometh as desolation, and your destruction cometh as a whirlwind; when distress and anguish cometh upon you.
28 Then shall they call upon me, but I will not answer; they shall seek me early, but they shall not find me:
29 For that they hated knowledge, and did not choose the fear of the LORD:

God is saying that those who continue mocking God, and spurning His grace and His Word, will face a day when God's grace is not available, for God has closed the door of grace, just like He closed the door of Noah's ark. He's telling all of us to heed His message of grace and forgiveness, while the door of grace still remains open.
