What was the reason you chose to be a Christian as opposed to a Muslim, Buddhist, Jew, and ect.?

I became a Christian when I was 17, after reading Mere Christianity, haven't looked back since. Mere Christianity convinced me to become a Christian as opposed to the other religion (not gonna name the other religion, but it was my aunt's religion) I was considering at the time.

What is your story? Why are you a Christian and not of another religion?

I'm not sure that I would call it luck, but the fact is that if you are born on India the odds are that you will be Hindu. If you are born in Saudi Arabia the odds are that you will be Muslim.

I had to struggle to find it. But the more I sought and followed God, the more deeply and clearly He revealed Himself. At first I looked into other religions as well, mainly eastern. But later, where else would I go? Jesus has the words of eternal life! And I heard them.

Certainly sounds like luck with the way you are describing it. Odds and probability = luck.

The fact is that where you are born plays a major role in determining your faith, but I wouldn't use the term "luck."

I was taken to Sunday school when I was 4 and just carried on going to church. That may have been only because my friends were there and my parents seemed to expect it. But I went, was confirmed and became a Christian when I was 16. My brothers went to Sunday school too, but left the church when they were about 9/10.

Had I grown up in my aunt's family, I may well have been a humanist, as she and my cousins are. Although a lot of schools and colleges have Christian unions, and the Lord can reach anyone at any time, even though an encounter on the street.

I prayed to Jesus the day before school athletics carnival when I was about 11. The prayer was " Dear Jesus Ireally want to come second in a race tomorrow because asking for first would be greedy. If I finish second I won't care where I finish in the finals. Amen"
The following day I came second in the heat and I was happy even when I easily came last in the final.
Other info to consider in that is that normally there were only three people I could always beat in a race. One of them came first in that race. It was also the only time in my life that I have beaten my twin brother in a race.

So my answer is essentially I sought Jesus and he revealed himself to me so I really have no choice.
