Well thats good you found something.
At the moment Im reading a book called 'keeping house' the litany of everyday life by Margaret Kim Peterson.

Its about how we as christians keep our homes.
Something to reflect on.

Others on apthe TBR list are books by Perry Stone, I find them edifying.

I'd go with www.gty.org .

John MacArthur is an incredible bible teacher. He doesn't sugar coat things and calls out bad theology as bad theology. He's one of the few men left with enough integrity to unashamedly preach God's Word.

There are thousands of sermons on that site that are all free and downloadable and if you do like him then the ministry has an app(also free) where you can listen to them all as well.

If you want something decent to read in conjunction with your Bible then I'd recommend the ESV Study Bible. It was my first Study Bible and I still use it most days in conjunction with my MacArthur Study Bible(my primary one).

Have you read his book STRANGE FIRE? it is a real eye opener, and presents some challenging thoughts.

Also for a more deeper way to understand the Bible, about 11 months ago I bought a Holman Christian Standard Bible. I consider it now to be my Bible of choice for reading and study. I like how the name of the LORD is translated Yahweh as it should have been done long time ago.

If you can get IN TOUCH on TV Dr, Charles Stanley has a great sermon on Gratitude this week. While in church we set our trusted pastors to record and then watsh them during the week. That makes it seem like we are being taught a lot more often.

John MacAuthur is the best verse by verse teacher I know. He presents so much needed information. Like last week he said a young girl of 12 was ready for Jewish marriage. Not living together, but being arranged for, and introduced toeach other as I took it. Who knew this before? I sure didn't. He is a real solid leader, pastor, teacher!

I’d recommend R Albert Mohler Jr’s new book, We Cannot Be Silent (Thomas Nelson 2015).

Yes. It's actually the ESV one I own because they don't do the NASB in genuine leather. I still like the ESV translation, I just prefer the NASB.

My reasoning for recommending the ESV Study Bible is because of the content/notes. Even if one doesn't enjoy or appreciate the translation, the notes alone are worth it.

I’d recommend R Albert Mohler Jr’s new book, We Cannot Be Silent (Thomas Nelson 2015).

I haven't read this yet, but Al Mohler is also sound reading/listening.

To go further for the OP, Al Mohler does a daily podcast, The Briefing, in which he addresses certain news headlines from a Christian worldview. It's great, free, and you can listen to it online and I think via an app.

Does your church have a membership to Right Now Media?
Immediate access to some of the best biblical speakers.

Francis Chan....Bill Hybils are a few names that pop into my mind to look for on YouTube.
John MacArthur, Charles Stanley, Chuck Swindoll, Focus on the Family has a number of great speakers on a variety of different topics.

I'd recommend anything by Matt Chandler. His two books (The Explicit Gospel and To Live Is Christ, To Die Is Gain) are phenomenal. If you want deep and convicting biblical preaching then he's a great source. We used to attend his church when we lived in Texas and you can't leave a service there without being convicted and challenged to grow closer to Christ.

I'm not sure what direction you are looking for in assistance. I don't listen to Christian TV, nor do I read Christian books. I do listen to a specific group of podcasts that are Lutheran led, because I haven't found many nonLutherans who do a great job of pointing people back to Christ. That might take a while to grasp what I mean. So try out Worldview Everlasting. Every video has an entertainment level to it, but listening to what he says does not. He is quite focused on the word of God.

I'm a huge believer the only reading a Christian should be reading is the Bible. Period. Unless one is a preacher, all of the rest of the books out there are dangerous enough to move you away from Sound Doctrine, unless you are a mature Christian. I don't trust any TV evangelist, unless the complete focus is on reading Scripture with no rabbit trails of life applications.

If you don't believe you can understand Scripture from just reading it, then get a study Bible, not a life application Bible. Let the Holy Spirit work on you and not some author you don't know if they even went to Seminary. Just because they spit out spiritual words doesn't equate to spirituality. And it's important to know the difference. If you don't, don't read Christian books. Read Scripture only.

Christian books are not living breathing word of God.
