If you want, include comments to these three questions:
  • What applies to me today?
  • Where have I see this in others?
  • Where have I experienced this?
Two things stood out today, so I'm going to bounce back and forth...

What applies to me today? -One thing that I take from this today is that habits are near to impossible to break and so with our Children we have to be careful. And with ourselves we have to pray if our bad habits continue month after month. This is interesting because this Proverbs reading will be a great exercise to gain a good habit and hopefully one that will carry on for years!
He who remains stiffnecked after much rebuke will be suddenly and incurably broken.
The rod and rebuke give wisdom, but a child left to himself brings shame on his mother.
Discipline your son, and he will give you rest; yes, he will be your delight.

Where have I see this in others?-The other thing I took away today was that the Government was talked about in this chapter a lot. I definitely see the proverbs speaking about them today, not sure if its a surprise but again reminds me to pray for their influence and power to come under the control and wisdom of God almighty.
When the righteous flourish, the people rejoice; but when the wicked are in power, the people groan.
A king gives stability to a country by justice, but one who overtaxes it brings it to ruin.
Scoffers can inflame a city, but the wise can calm the fury.
Angry people stir up strife; hot-tempered people commit many crimes.

Where have I experienced this?- Under the first thing I took away - I have an Adult child at home now who is hard to live with but who is easy to be around when he doesn't live at home.....His bad habits are in the way of our peace at home. Unfortunately he is still at home so my life is not peaceful ATM. It is our fault as his parents, for not placing more expectation on him around the house and not giving him firmer structure at home.

Also with the governmental happenings this week, I rely on this verse:
Fearing human beings is a snare; but he who trusts in ADONAI will be raised high [above danger].

The same things came at me from this chapter. Habits are hard to break but I believe they can be broken with patience and determination.
I do believe we have to be careful around children. They are learning from us. If we don't act in a Godly manner neither will they. As it says in verse 17
Discipline your children, and they will give you peace;
they will bring you the delights you desire.

I also found that verse 27 was relevant to me as well
The righteous detest the dishonest;
the wicked detest the upright.

1 He that being often reproved hardeneth his neck Shall suddenly be destroyed, and that without remedy.

2 When the righteous are increased, the people rejoice; But when a wicked man beareth rule, the people sigh.

3 Whoso loveth wisdom rejoiceth his father; But he that keepeth company with harlots wasteth [his] substance.

4 The king by justice establisheth the land; But he that exacteth gifts overthroweth it.

5 A man that flattereth his neighbor Spreadeth a net for his steps.

6 In the transgression of an evil man there is a snare; But the righteous doth sing and rejoice.

7 The righteous taketh knowledge of the cause of the poor; The wicked hath not understanding to know [it].

8 Scoffers set a city in a flame; But wise men turn away wrath.

9 If a wise man hath a controversy with a foolish man, Whether he be angry or laugh, there will be no rest.

10 The bloodthirsty hate him that is perfect; And as for the upright, they seek his life.

11 A fool uttereth all his anger; But a wise man keepeth it back and stilleth it.

12 If a ruler hearkeneth to falsehood, All his servants are wicked.

13 The poor man and the oppressor meet together; Jehovah lighteneth the eyes of them both.

14 The king that faithfully judgeth the poor, His throne shall be established for ever.

15 The rod and reproof give wisdom; But a child left to himself causeth shame to his mother.

16 When the wicked are increased, transgression increaseth; But the righteous shall look upon their fall.

17 Correct thy son, and he will give thee rest; Yea, he will give delight unto thy soul.

18 Where there is no vision, the people cast off restraint; But he that keepeth the law, happy is he.

19 A servant will not be corrected by words; For though he understand, he will not give heed.

20 Seest thou a man that is hasty in his words? There is more hope of a fool than of him.

21 He that delicately bringeth up his servant from a child Shall have him become a son at the last.

22 An angry man stirreth up strife, And a wrathful man aboundeth in transgression.

23 A man's pride shall bring him low; But he that is of a lowly spirit shall obtain honor.

24 Whoso is partner with a thief hateth his own soul; He heareth the adjuration and uttereth nothing.

25 The fear of man bringeth a snare; But whoso putteth his trust in Jehovah shall be safe.

26 Many seek the ruler's favor; But a man's judgment [cometh] from Jehovah.

27 An unjust man is an abomination to the righteous; And he that is upright in the way is an abomination to the wicked.

1 He who remains stiff necked after much rebuke will be suddenly and incurably broken.
I pray this isnt true as between June when this study started and now, I have put my faith in change for a certain person that I hope makes great changes soon.
2 When the righteous flourish, the people rejoice; but when the wicked are in power, the people groan.
Im ready for this to happen to our country
3 Whoever loves wisdom brings joy to his father,
AMEN
4 A king gives stability to a country by justice, but one who overtaxes it brings it to ruin.
Needs no words ;)
8 Scoffers can inflame a city, but the wise can calm the fury.
9 When a wise man argues with a foolish one, he meets anger and ridicule without relief.
Praying for our country....

11 A fool gives vent to all his feelings, but the wise, thinking of afterwards, stills them.
This is true and hard at the same time....I blow up like once a year with my kids, just so happens this year it was yesterday:swoon: I knew I lost the argument the minute it started
12 If a ruler listens to lies, all his officials will be wicked.
praying for our country
13 The poor and the oppressor have this in common: ADONAI gives light to the eyes of both.
Our King knows Best!!! Thank you ABBA!
14 If a king steadfastly gives justice to the poor, his throne will be secure forever.
AMEN!!
15 The rod and rebuke give wisdom, but a child left to himself brings shame on his mother.
Which is soooo true!

17 Discipline your son, and he will give you rest; yes, he will be your delight.
AMEN!
18 Without a prophetic vision, the people throw off all restraint; but he who keeps Torah is happy.
Praying for this!

20 Do you see someone too anxious to speak? There is more hope for a fool than for him.
Interesting....

22 Angry people stir up strife; hot-tempered people commit many crimes.
Praying for our country....

25 Fearing human beings is a snare; but he who trusts in ADONAI will be raised high [above danger].
With God beside us we have nothing to fear.

27 An unjust person is an abomination to the righteous, but he who lives uprightly is an abomination to the wicked.
Amen

Today's reading looks like it is referring to both national government and home government. IMO with our interference and destruction to the family by our government (and by our own doing), we will be left with very few choices in leaders that will be godly and wise in the future. Our country needs prayer and so do our families even more.

Verses 13, 23, and 25 really stood out to me.

13 "The poor man and the oppressor have this in common: The Lord gives light to the eyes of both."

23 "A man's pride will bring him low, but the humble in spirit will retain honor."

25 "The fear of man brings a snare, but whoever trusts in the Lord shall be safe."

Praise Jesus. Amen.

That's sad to be read.
Me I still have my parents and sometimes I get in trouble with my father.
After I fight with my father (verbally) I feel so sad cause I know I can break the commandment "Honour your father and your mother".
I do pray and ask forgiveness to God and I do pray to not make me fall in temptation, cause in this hard life it could be easy for some of us to disobey to God.
It's true which also parents have their task to teach their children as written in this chapter of Proverbs, but Paul said also " And, ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath, but bring them up in the discipline and admonition of the Lord." (Ephesians 6:4).
But if the son doesn't listen to the commandments then just try to not enter in conflict, but if your son is so hatred then only police can do something or a wife who takes him out of the house eheh.

Proverbs 29:22
The angry man stirs up strife, and the furious man abounds in transgression.

What we learn from this verse is which our wrath can lead us to break the commandments, to commit sins.
But what we can do to turn off our rage? What is the root of wrath?
It's true which the mouth speak of what we have in our hearts as well as our actions.
But where rage comes from?
I think many times the rage, the wrath comes from afflictions of this world, and little by little our afflictions fill our hearts of a huge wrath and the only way to clean our hearts from wrath is with Hope:

Psalms 37:6-8
7 Daleth Be silent before the LORD and wait patiently for him; do not be angry with him who prospers in his way, with the man who brings wicked devices to pass.
8 He Cease from anger and forsake wrath: let not thy wrath in any wise cause you to become evil.
9 For evildoers shall be cut off; but those that wait for the LORD, they shall inherit the earth.

Proverbs 20:22
Say not thou, I will take vengeance, but wait on the LORD, and he shall save thee.

Lamentations 3:26
it is good to wait quietly for the salvation of the Lord.

There are many other verses like this if we use a chain-reference.

The thing we understand is which only the Hope in God and the Salvation can shut off the fire of rage in us: "to wait the Lord" and "to wait quietly" "don't be angry with evildoers", these are the orders we received from God to switch off our wrath.

Proverbs 29Amplified Bible (AMP)
Warnings and Instructions
29 He who hardens his neck and refuses instruction after being often reproved (corrected, criticized),
Will suddenly be broken beyond repair.
2
When the righteous are in authority and become great, the people rejoice;
But when the wicked man rules, the people groan and sigh.
3
A man who loves [skillful and godly] wisdom makes his father joyful,
But he who associates with prostitutes wastes his wealth.
4
The king establishes (stabilizes) the land by justice,
But a man who takes bribes overthrows it.
5
A man who flatters his neighbor [with smooth words intending to do harm]
Is spreading a net for his own feet.
6
By his wicked plan an evil man is trapped,
But the righteous man sings and rejoices [for his plan brings good things to him].
7
The righteous man cares for the rights of the poor,
But the wicked man has no interest in such knowledge.
8
Scoffers set a city afire [by stirring up trouble],
But wise men turn away anger [and restore order with their good judgment].
9
If a wise man has a controversy with a foolish and arrogant man,
The foolish man [ignores logic and fairness and] only rages or laughs, and there is no peace (rest, agreement).
10
The bloodthirsty hate the blameless [because of his integrity],
But the upright are concerned for his life.
11
A [shortsighted] fool always loses his temper and displays his anger,
But a wise man [uses self-control and] holds it back.
12
If a ruler pays attention to lies [and encourages corruption],
All his officials will become wicked.
13
The poor man and the oppressor have this in common:
The Lord gives light to the eyes of both.
14
If a king faithfully and truthfully judges the poor,
His throne shall be established forever.
15
The rod and reproof (godly instruction) give wisdom,
But a child who gets his own way brings shame to his mother.
16
When the wicked are in authority, transgression increases,
But the righteous will see the downfall of the wicked.
17
Correct your son, and he will give you comfort;
Yes, he will delight your soul.
18
Where there is no vision [no revelation of God and His word], the people are unrestrained;
But happy and blessed is he who keeps the law [of God].
19
A servant will not be corrected by words alone;
For though he understands, he will not respond [nor pay attention].
20
Do you see a [conceited] man who speaks quickly [offering his opinions or answering without thinking]?
There is more hope for a [thickheaded] fool than for him.

21
He who pampers his slave from childhood
Will find him to be a son in the end.
22
An angry man stirs up strife,
And a hot-tempered and undisciplined man commits many transgressions.
23
A man’s pride and sense of self-importance will bring him down,
But he who has a humble spirit will obtain honor.
24
Whoever is partner with a thief hates his own life;
He hears the curse [when swearing an oath to testify], but discloses nothing [and commits perjury by omission].
25
The fear of man brings a snare,
But whoever trusts in and puts his confidence in the Lord will be exalted and safe.
26
Many seek the ruler’s favor,
But justice for man comes from the Lord.
27
An unjust man is repulsive to the righteous,
And he who is upright in the way [of the Lord] is repulsive to the wicked.

There is sooo much in this chapter! I especially like this verse:

Where there is no vision [no revelation of God and His word], the people are unrestrained;

As in the days of Noah......RIGHT!;)

:) and this:

A man who loves [skillful and godly] wisdom makes his father joyful,
But he who associates with prostitutes wastes his wealth.

These are odd together or is it just me??? I would be interested in what others think? Why do we think that these were paired together in this manner? :)

Love this though:

The righteous man cares for the rights of the poor,
But the wicked man has no interest in such knowledge.

It is knowledge to care for the rights of the poor! Love that!!!

In reading Proverbs 29, verse 1 stood out for me:

"He, that being often reproved hardeneth his neck, shall suddenly be destroyed, and that without remedy."

Reminds me of what God says here in this verse:

"And the LORD said, My spirit shall NOT always strive with man" ~Genesis 6:3
