I've had shoulder injuries the past year. One torn labrum on my left shoulder, and my right shoulder has some kind of rotator cuff problem and has become frozen. I go to physical therapy but progress is slow and the torn labrum cannot be helped by it. My doctor advises surgery but it is extremely painful, debilitating, and I have so many other health problems (fibromyalgia, irritable bowel) I have avoided surgery. I have been searching around for stem-cell/protein-rich-plasma treatments but I'm not sure my insurance would cover it, even if I could find a doctor that performs the procedure.

I went to several healing services and my shoulders are the same as ever. I have not prayed in a while about much of anything, though.

BTW, my real name is Aaron. Maybe it would be strange to pray for a screen handle? I'm sure God knows the difference, but still...

The worst thing about the pain is how grouchy I've been. And sometimes I just feel hopeless because the torn labrum thing doesn't typically heal on its own. People can live with it, but it's just going to be a source of reinjury a lot and it can limit what you do. I hate feeling old in my 30's.

Believe in the Lord's mighty power, Aaron, look after yourself, eat all the foods to make you strong, and I pray that the Lord will pour his healing out on you, in the power of his Holy Spirit.

Hi Aaron, take it from someone who didn't get his injuries done when he should have, you probably shouldn't wait :preach: I "learned to live" with my knees when I was your age, and I made it through, but what I am incapable of doing now is significant, and life is much more of a struggle than it should be. It doesn't get better with age, plus you usually end up hurting yourself in ways you wouldn't have otherwise because you will be constantly compensating. IOW, you end up using other parts of your body in ways they should not be used .. to "live" with the injuries you now possess. For instance, my right knee was the one that sustained the big injury, but my left knee is actually much worse now because I abused it compensating for the right one (and you really can't avoid doing that as long as you try to "live" with your injury unfortunately :()

The other thing is, at 30, there's a lot of stuff you need to do and can do, not only as a husband and father, but as a Christian, that you won't be able to do, even when you're perfectly healthy when you get near my age (59).

Anyway, I would encourage you to consult your wife, your pastor, and your doctor, and consider again getting the surgery done (because it doesn't sound like anything short of that is going to fix the problem). I would also encourage you to be very discerning. Talk to other PT patients, for instance, who have had surgery done by your doctor. If they all seem to be doing pretty well, then chances are very good that you will too  If not, DO NOT HESITATE to find another doctor who does perform excellent surgeries with problem-free recoveries nearly 100% of the time. You can also check your surgeon out online, but there's nothing like seeing the results for yourself and getting the opinion of others who have recently used the surgeon you're planning on using.

And if you find some who are doing poorly, be sure to get the name of their doctors are well (as doctors to completely avoid ;)).

Also, don't wait to start getting yourself back in the best shape you can to prepare for the surgery. Surgery and recovery is always easier if you're in good shape to begin with!

Be sure to trust God with this decision and throughout the entire process, whatever it is you end up doing.

Praying for you!

Blessings to you in Christ,
David
