Mason went to bed at 9:30pm and woke up at 2am. He has been sound asleep in our bed ever since. Finn went to bed a little before 8pm and is still asleep. He did wake up a few times because his teeth hurt but I did not hear him cough once all night.

I'll be attempting to get both of these babies out of the house today for some fun! Happy Saturday!!!

'Somebody's been sleeping in my bed, and he is still there!'

Last night, the boys both slept the best that they have in over two weeks! Finn fell asleep at 8:30pm and slept until 6:30am and only woke up once at 11pm but I was already walking into his room to give him his meds.

Mason went to bed at 9pm and didn't ask to come into our room until 5:30am and slept there until 7am when he woke up saying 'where's baby Finn? Need see baby Finn!'

It's now breakfast and Mickey Mouse time before Mason goes to school. Today and tomorrow we will just be at home getting ready for Thanksgiving!

This is the last thing I'd expected to read after he's been doing so well!

3hrs ago:
My heart breaks to tell you all that Finn stopped breathing and we are being flown to UVA. We had to call the ambulance and he is currently being stabilized locally until we can fly.
2hrs ago:
He is stable but not feeling well at all. Still waiting for a helicopter as there is bad weather for flying.
1hr ago:
We tried four different helicopters but weather around UVA is too bad to fly. We are taking an ambulance with the flight crew. Estimated arrival time is one hour and 20 minutes to UVA. Temp of 100.6, oxygen is in the 60's and has been in the 80's all week. He is throwing up. We will be in the PICU at UVA. RSV, pneumonia and flu test negative so we will see what UVA says when we get there. Thank you for thinking of us.

They should be arriving soon, if they're not already there (FB times are so imprecise). I'll definitely be keeping y'all updated as Kelly does. :prayer:

No sleep in 48 hours but he is so worth it. Finn is still in ICU. We are waiting for test results to come back and for rounds. He has an IV, pulse ox, telemetry and blood pressure monitoring. All of the cords he just loves to pull out. He is crying a lot and not sleeping well. He will prevail though!

A longer post of Kelly explaining exactly what happened:
After hours of Finn just crying no matter what I tried, he is finally asleep. So I have a split second to explain everything that happened.

As you know, I posted yesterday morning that Finn was up a lot during the night. He had woken up Thanksgiving morning and done great until around 5pm. He became very fussy and nothing was working. When we arrived home after celebrating with our family, it was a little after 7pm and Finn went straight to sleep.

Very shortly after I laid him down, he became inconsolable again. I kept trying to put him to bed and he kept getting up. Around 11:30pm, I heard him wheezing in his room. I looked at the baby monitor and he wasn't moving. I walked in and tried to pick him up and he seemed lifeless and gave me a blank stare. As I looked closer at him when I was holding him, I felt him in my arms and noticed that he wasn't breathing. I rubbed him and tried to stir him and he finally took a deep breath but then did the same thing again.

I called Michael into the room and he unfortunately witness the same thing as myself. I was crying and begging him to breathe. He just wasn't. So, Michael called 911. The responders came very quickly and helped me stabilize him with oxygen. His oxygen was in the 60s. It has been in the high 80s over the past several days and weeks.

Once we had a temporary plan of going to the hospital and waiting for a flight plan, Finn decided to have breathing issues again. When we were at the hospital, he wasn't breathing on his own even with oxygen. It took a lot to get him to start again. Luckily, shortly after tris episode, hey transportation plan became available and we went right away to UVA.

UVA ran all of their own panels and so far, everything including the x-ray have come back normal. He does not have RSV, pneumonia, the flu, croup, MRSA or anything else. His chest Ephesians are still stable. They have not become worse.

Unfortunately, at this moment, we are not 100% sure what caused this episode. He does have a cough, as you heard in the video that I posted. He is very uncomfortable but he is pulling through. As of right now, they want to keep him in ICU for a little while longer. It's just not worth the risk to put him on the floor especially since his worst time seems to be at night.

This stay is such a game changer compared to even the G Tube stay just a few short weeks ago. Finn wants me around all the time. He wants me to hold him or touch him all the time. Before, he was more independent. It is so hard now bc he is very aware and knows what's going on.

I came to UVA with no supplies other than my wallet, cell phone charger, extra paci, blankie and outfit for Finn. Finn threw up all over me twice and the sweet nurses gave me scrubs which are what I am still wearing. I tell you all this because it is more apparent now to me than ever how much these donations that you all help with TRULY change this hospital and this situation for parents like me and children like Finn. You literally never know what each moment will bring. You can never be prepared for this.

One minute we are eating Thanksgiving dinner feeling so grateful to be home and in a split second we are on the phone with 911 watching our baby boy fight for every breath that he takes.

PEOPLE! PEOPLE!!! Cherish every moment of your life and take every single change you get. THIS right here is the sole reason that we do what we do and why we take every opportunity for Finn and Mason that we can. You literally never know what tomorrow will bring. PLEASE take that from us and from Finn and keep it in your back pocket The next time you are trying to decide if you should go ahead and take that vacation that you wanted to or go back to school and get your degree, or just take a chance at life on anything. Please, take that chance.

Live for today. Tomorrow is never promised. Life is NOT measured by the number of breathes you take but by the moments that take your breath away. We will always ‪#‎justkeepswimming‬

Sobbing and praying :crossrc: I feel for her so deeply
It reminds me so vividly of my preemie son with his numerous medical issues and emergencies 34 years ago.
But he is my miracle baby, and a healthy man today PTL!
Praying the Lord blesses Finn and his family in His Merciful Love :crossrc:

Praise God for Finn smiles :prayer:

We got a smile out of this precious munchkin.

This post is going to be all over the place as it has been now over 48 hours that I have slept. After several of valuations and several bits of testing, we spoke to his doctor today. We have narrowed it down to two potential things that could be happening.

The first is that Finn somehow got a tiny virus which caused him to develop a cough. The cough got worse last night and when he tried to cough up mucus that was being produced, he aspirated.

The second option is that he had a seizure. This is very unlikely but we can't take any chances. We already had a few neurological concerns and had been referred to pediatric neurology for an appointment in mid December. We are now going to be seen in patient at the hospital in the next day or two. We will talk to the specialist and get an an evaluation and go from there.

Currently, Finn is still in ICU. He is very fussy and still has a cough. Every time he coughs, he cries. He wants to be held all the time but can't get comfortable. Hopefully, with each passing day, he will begin to feel better. We are really counting on this not being a long stay. We are so blessed that this is not cardiac related.

Thank you all so much for your patience over the past 24 hours. We were obviously not expecting this to happen. We were not prepared at all. But, life can try to throw us as many curveballs as possible and we will take them on.

Finn is also having a rough time getting some sleep. Hopefully he can find a way to get some peace and calm to fall asleep.

Thank you all so much again. You don't know how much your prayers and words of strength and kindness do to help us push through.

This little turkey was able to get some sleep. He still has this awful cough but we will address that today. His oxygen has remained stable and he hasn't thrown up any further or stopped breathing. He is currently up watching Octonauts.

I was able to go home, get some clothes, a shower and FINALLY some sleep. I am SO happy and relieved that Finn hasn't had any breathing problems in a full 24 hours.

I have to say again that the nurses at UVA are just fantastic. We adore them and so does Finn. Finn has spent more than the majority of his life with them. The time between the G Tube surgery and this admission was 8 weeks. That is a HUGE record for us. The time before that was 5 weeks and then before that just 7 days. Our goal is that each time we go home, we stay longer and longer.

We are feeling so blessed today too that Finn is not struggling or fighting anything really serious. We have so many friends here now fighting for their lives and even though we are sad that we are in the hospital, we will never not take advantage of an opportunity to pass along love and prayers and especially hugs to our sweet other families going through SO much.

So, the plan for today is to hopefully talk to neurology about this possible seizure and we hope to rule that out! And to address this 'barky' cough and get this sweet boy some relief!

PS- If you're wondering what Finn is asking for Christmas this year, apparently it's cords bc he is more obsessed and curious than ever with things that are attached to his body. The more the merrier.

We have been moved to IMU step down unit! No fear of being apenic anytime soon thanks to answered prayers!

Also, dad and Mason are there too :D

:tutu: :tutu: FINN'S GOING HOME ALREADY!!!!!! :tutu::tutu:

Neurology Update!

We had a consultation with neurology by phone. They wouldn't have any openings to have someone physically come by for a while. The good news is that they do not think that he is in immediate risk for seizures! Thank goodness. However, they are still suspicious and don't want to take any chances for the future so, we have an appointment at their clinic on December 16. If something opens up prior to that, we will take it. The overall consensus with the entire team is that he did aspirate.

Next goal, help him with his cough. Finn still has a cough and steroids will not help because it is upper respiratory and not in his lungs. The doctors ordered an x-ray this morning and everything looked clear.

Thanking the good Lord for no extra chest fluid and no immediate danger for seizures.

❤GIVING THANKS!!! FINN IS GOING HOME!!!❤

Today is SUCH a blessing! Finn is going home and ALL three of our sweet heart baby PICU friends are having a good day and holding on! Prayer IS so powerful!!!

One day, we will be able to say 'goodbye' to UVA but for today, it's see you later!!! Thank you to every single individual who made it possible for Finn to go home. And THANK you to each and every single one of YOU for your prayers, strength and love for this sweet boy and our family.

Do not take any moment for granted. You never know what tomorrow will bring.

Next update will be from our HoMe!!!
