If they're barred from boarding planes I'd say it's a good idea not to let them arm up.
It would depend on if the person really deserves to be on the TWL.
However, it wouldn't mean they couldn't acquire arms on the street as we know. A BLM red flag can only do so much.

Denying watchlisters the right to buy a gun is violating their rights without due process. Guilty until proven innocent is not our jurisprudence model.
At the same time how did they get on the watch list without some sort of reason?

We've had congressmen find out they were on it after being held up at an airport.

Mistakes happen. And getting off a watch list is difficult at best. Such a law as the administration wants would fail on the basis of being denied due process.

All cool until you're the one on the watchlist. WHat part of "shall not be infringed" don't people get?
Well, by that logic violent felons fresh out of prison should have their gun rights back. I DO,by the way support NON-violent felons getting their gun rights back after such time as completing their entire sentence incarceration parole/probation, classes, fine, community services and/or any other conditions of the sentence.

Felons have due process. Court, lawyer, trial, jury, evidence, ect. A watchlist has you finding out when you're trying to catch your flight for the family reunion.
How does one get on the watch list? I mean surely there must be some kind of reason a person is being watched?

There is. The reason is that there is a suspicion they are dangerous. i.e. "not proven".

While I agree that there should be proof that still leaves the issue of what would lead them to suspect that about a particular person.

The issue is balance between liberty and safety. There's no right answer. It's impossible to keep everyone safe without unfairly infringing the liberties of some, but go too far the other direction and allow unrestricted license, you're going to have unacceptably high fatalities and injury rates. And what makes it extra fun is that hardly any two people will agree on where the lines for "acceptable " will be drawn.

so the question becomes what level of safety do we want? I believe it was Franklin o Jefferson that said if people choose safety over liberty they deserve neither or something to that effect.

Jefferson, iirc. And yep, that's the question. It comes up surprisingly frequently. Phone tapping, patriot acts, search and seizures, enhanced interrogations, and, of course, refugees that might be terrorist.

Like I said its all cool until it is you on that list for some reason. I am not sure how the new iteration of the patriot act works but I recall the older one was quite arbitrary in how they can jail you and do all sorts of other anti-constitutional actions against you for "freedom". So when someone disagrees with the president in the future and suddenly you can't buy guns then you might toot a different horn. Honestly, I don't think it will ever come to that because no politician has the brass to attack the bill of rights outright in the open.. They just do it subtley with 1000 page bills that the average joe will never bother to read. Nobody should be restricted from buying guns, even recently released felons. They've served their time and done their sentence, why do they punish them further after they served their punishment?

Well, first state to do it.

One question, how can the government suspend a constitutional right, any constitutional right, without due process by simply placing them on a list? No arrests, no criminal charges, no court hearing, no trial, no jury, no defense council, no examination and cross-examination of evidence. Just put a name on a list and BOOM, you lose your rights.

These aren't even identities, they're just names.
