In the Gospels of the Codex Vaticanus, Dean Burgon was stunned to discover that 2877 words had been 'deleted' and 536 words 'added'. He also noted that 935 words were 'substituted' (changed), and 2098 words were 'transposed', meaning that an alternative name or word was written in the place of an original name or word. He added that 1132 words in the Codex Vaticanus had been 'modified', and his comments left biblical researchers with great uncertainty as to what oldest Bibles once really said. Thus, from Dean Burgon's two decades of work, we find a total of 7578 perversions in the Codex Vaticanus, and his equivalent figures for the Codex Sinaiticus reveal even greater differences from the ancient original. For example, he recognised that in the Codex Sinaiticus, 3455 words were 'deleted', 839 words were 'added', 1114 words were 'substituted', 2299 words were 'transposed', and 1265 words were 'modified', making a total of 8972 artificial adjustments to what the Church claims is the 'unadulterated word of God'.

How can i trust a text that has been altered thousands of times?

Again, you didn't. I encourage you to read the article I posted that responds to almost all chick tracts in one article. Otherwise you are only hearing one side of the story.
Yes, I read it. Somehow it doesn't really get past me though.

Until Jesus shows up we are left to grasp the book the best we can

Faith is what we rely on, faith is what it takes

Ponder this

The scriptures say every knee will bow, all eyes will see the one they pierced, etc

These are statements of totality { all, every }

But, if there are still people who doubt the Bible was divinely inspired, then these statements cannot be true

What this means for us, is that when you hear somebody ask " Can you prove the Bible is the word of God ? " { A question we've all heard countless times }

...you have to think " Is it my place to prove the Bible is God's word ? "

" Or is it the sole place of Jesus Christ ? "

This is a conversation that really requires examine human logic and it's limits to really answer properly

You miss the point of what Burgon said. It's the shortcomings of Vaticanus and Sinaiticus that he was pointing out, not of the overwhelming manuscript evidence for the New Testament that there is, compared with for other ancient texts.

But then there is also the fact that if someone is determined not to believe, they will sure find a 'reason', if they are minded to find a 'reason'.

Why not read the Bible and let it 'read' you as well, friend? :)
