Agree with this. It's one thing to meet someone visiting your country from another country, and you have chemistry, and decide to begin dating...and perhaps, the person moves back to their country, and you have a long distance thing going. But, to SEEK out ONLY women over seas, is just odd to me. There are occasional success stories, but it's naive to think that women from other countries who wish to live in the states, aren't potentially opportunistic and will feign being interested in a man, in order to obtain that...I've read stories to this effect. Kind of sad.
They do still exist, though. They just might not be where you're looking. They're usually sat at home doing their own thing. That's just it. Most of the men who seek mail order brides have tried the "old fashioned" way, but unfortunately, they are also looking for old fashioned women. Those are as scarce as hens teeth in the US.
Didn't see your post until Cearbhall quoted it. So, you think its "creepy and desperate" for men to "not settle"? Creepy and desperate is the guy who marries the first girl who looks at him, no matter how low class she happens to be. These men don't limit themselves to just the type of women around them. My uncle could have had any woman he wanted. He was kind, he had money, owed no debts, and didn't have the baggage of divorces behind him. He chose the woman he wanted. That's not desperate or creepy.
Oh, I can guess, and those are exactly the sort of beliefs to which I'm referring. Not to say anything against your uncle in particular, but I find it much more likely that the problem is the man who has to mail for a wife, rather than there being something wrong with every single woman in America.I could tell you the things my uncle said about American women, and why he chose to find a foreign wife, but you really wouldn't like it.

I'm probably about as traditional as they come, but I'm also not a girl about town. I'd rather be at home than partying. So, needless to say, I would be pretty hard for most guys to find.

Oh, hush now.It's cause you're a Bama fan [emoji14]
Lol, that sounds like it would be interesting.Drive by dating. Could be an option.

Actually, that used to totally be a thing in Texas! Back in the 50s and such when drive-in food places were popular, high schoolers would go hang out there and girls would go park their cars and guys would drive around to see who they liked.Lol, that sounds like it would be interesting.
It's naive and a sign of desperation. There are plenty of people to date in one's home town. Ordering one from a foreign country is ridiculous.Hey all, I'm fairly new to these parts. I was just curious what you good folks here think about the concept of mail order brides? It seems like kind of an archaic practice, but I've met some folks over the past few years who are basically using that same practice.
What do you think about it?
Really? So, you've only ever dated virgins? Are you over 18? If she sleeps around, she is not old fashioned.
That sort of power dynamic can lead to a lot of problems, not in the least because many men use it to find a submissive woman from a more misogynistic culture instead of adjusting to their own culture. I'm sure there are examples where nothing goes wrong, but you have to think about why they had to go to such lengths to find a spouse.
