Hello all! I'm new as of today. First post. First Christian forum I've join actually in a long time.

Anyway, I've been dating this wonderful woman for almost 2 years. Recently I have come to the understanding that our views of the nature of God may not be the same. I believe in the Triune God as 3 distinct persons but ONE God. She also believes in one God and that Jesus is God. Her view of the Trinity is that God manifests Himself in 3 ways. Her bishop (pastor) teaches there is no such thing as the Trinity. That it is a later construct foreign to the original biblical writers. I'm in a quandary now. She has faith in Christ as her savior. We are equally yoked in that regard. If her understanding of the Trinity is different than mine, should I consider that a major red flag?

Thanks all for your time and wisdom.

This might sound like a silly post to an inexperienced christian, but this is at the heart of Christianity. Did you feel like she tried to steal your authority? for christ is the head of man and man is the head of woman. 1 Corinthians 11:3I feel God is teaching you about disagreement and how to deal with it. But you have to be aware that those who constantly disagree with you are against you, is this a one off? For Mathew 12.30"He who is not with Me is against Me"

but also realize that amos 3:3 "do two walk together unless they have agreed to meet" I suggest you ask someone with discernment to check out her pastor and ask why you go to different churches?

Hope this helps

No one can completely understand God. At a certain point it becomes a semantics discussion. Check on youtube, there is an entire series of very long, convoluted debates about this very subject, and after investing hours watching them, I can say with certainty that it doesn't matter. It appears that on some level, God wants us to know that his nature is some kind of trinity, with 3 different parts, but all united. I recommend to leave it at that and get on with your life with this wonderful woman.

The bolded phrase describes an ancient heresy called "modalism." I suggest you do some study on it. Some of the more radical elements in that belief system (like the United Pentecostals and the Apostolics) will consider you unsaved if you were baptized by the Matt 28 formula of "Father Son and Holy Spirit."

Unless one of you is going to change your views on the Trinity, I would suggest leaving that relationship.
