You win the lottery! You decide to go cash option, and after taxes end up having 100 million dollars (or insert your currency here) deposited into your bank account. What are the first five things you are going to buy for yourself (charity and paying off debt does not count towards these five things)? Teacher in me coming out: Be specific, don't just say "house" or "nice car".

1) I would buy some land just outside of town, not too much, but just enough to have some stables, and hunt on it.
2) On said land, I would build a nice house for myself. Indoor pool and hot tub is a must.
3) I would buy a Porsche convertible.
4) A small private jet, something like a leer.
5) A Taco Bell franchise. I love Taco Bell and it would give me something to do. I'd hire managers to do most of the managing, but would still do some things.

Would you still work?
I answered with number five above, but I know that no amount of money would keep me entertained forever. It will help me get out of the house. I could also see myself still teaching.

I won't go into specifics, but a good portion of my winnings would go into different preservation projects. Securing my family's future, helping my parish out, creating an endowment for my university (on the condition they reinstate the football program), buying up all of the undeveloped property around town and creating a nature preserve so it remains untouched. Maybe tear out some of the uglier buildings downtown from the 1970's and build some nicer ones that look more historic. Altogether try to build on the nicer elements of the town.

Oh and I'd try to incentivize Google into installing Fiber in town.

I'd continue running my small business and do college without any change in spending. Once done I'd maybe consider relocating to Asia for a while, since I'd have money, and could bail myself out if it doesn't pan out with moving my business over there. Past that I am a businessman so maybe I'd use it for investments, or safe keeping.

1) One of the waterfront condos downtown
2) Tesla Model X
3) I'd buy a few* acres of land and build a second residence somewhere up north. Like Montana or Maine. The condo would probably then become a vacation home.
4) Casual world travel of some sort, or maybe even buy property overseas. Like in Australia.
5) Go back to college and get my degree in chemistry.

*only a few because I don't need a huge amount of land for who-knows-what purpose. As long as it's got a suitable amount of space for the building and a nicely-sized yard or property, it doesn't have to be a lot.

The first, first thing I'd do is invest it into low-risk (or with that kind of money, gov't insured) dividend-bearing accounts, and then actually just live off the interest. Because you're still looking at anywhere from hundreds of thousands to a few million dollars a year just in interest on an amount that large. Plus my tastes aren't exactly extravagant, so I'd still be able to manage all the stuff I just listed on the yearly income.

I probably wouldn't still work, or I'd simply find a position in a research field (or start a business or research facility that meshes with it) so that I have some sense of accomplishment and can make use of my education at that point.

I've never felt comfortable with the idea of winning large sums of money. A truly rich person will GRAFT like a rich person. (Alan Sugar springs to mind.) I couldn't just take money that I haven't earned. (No, honestly.)

The things I want most in life are the things that money can't buy. Personal satiety, respect, knowledge and wisdom, just to name to name a few. What's the point in being rich if don't FEEL rich? (If that makes sense?)

For just me?

1) Citizenship to Canada. Works out about $1.6m.
2) Land. A lot of land with a good amount of woodland. I'd have the non-wooded area levelled and made fit for construction and a large pit dug for a lake(for fishing and canoeing).
3) A large, traditional stately home built(furnished) at the end of a long gravel driveway, flanked by maple trees, Victorian street lamps and benches beside a path.
4) A separate library built next to the home in the same style as the home(and of course the books to go inside).

Can't think of a 5th. The option to spend it on others? (In which case I'd have homes off-set from the driveway for my family to live in(whose residence I'd also pay for -- you get the money back after 3 years), a large construction to be used for helping reintegrate homeless in to society(giving them a roof over their heads, food, a land line and a postal address etc for applying to jobs), paying off certain people's mortgages, that kinda thing. I'd probably end up spending more on others than myself ultimately. That'd give me the most joy.

Oh this is fun!!

1st buy my family a house that would be better for the size of my family. And buy myself a small house in town.
2nd give all the money that my church needs to build the youth camp.
3rd go on mission trips around the world with the money!!
4th build several orphanages in the country's I fill called to.
5th a nice used car!!

Yes I would still work if I felt called to, if not I would spend time doing missions and ministry work for the Kingdom!!

1. Build a brand new house by the river(since I don't feel called to move out of this city), up on the hill and away from floods.

2. Bible college!

3. Buy and renovate antique houses and rent them out. I'd also buy a great big building for all the homeless, not only for shelter, but to provide a home for them and help them do something they'd like for a living, share the Gospel, etc.

4. Upgrade the SPCA shelter for animals so they have more space and livable, build another one for neglected/rescued pets.

5. Invest for retirement

Yes, I would still work, but only very part time and use the rest of that time doing Missions.
