Again our country has shown it's appreciation for the Service men and women and disable Vets no pay increase. What do you think these people should get?

That would be nice. I am a 100% disabled Navy Vet. What is worse, is the VA Health Care System! Often medication and supplies are back ordered, and my wife and I have to pay for such items. The VA does not reimburse for their mistakes at all. Right now I have been waiting for a VA ER doctor to send antibiotic medication prescription to the Wal-Mart near me 25 miles away from my house. The VA forgot to get it in the Mail. The ER doctor is too busy to phone a prescription in. This sort of thing is all the time. When I have called my Senator about this it goes no where. Vets are getting a raw deal under the Obama Administration. I guess if I were a Muslim it would go much faster!

Please thanking a Vet for their service is nice, but let your Senator know VETS deserve a increase in disability Compensation. Under the present system VETS get what SS gets. I believe I risked my life for the US and people on SS do deserve a raise, but Vets should get more! They earned it, I live with my issues 24 hours a day everyday of the week.

I am a retired, 100% disabled USAF veteran. Honestly, I would like a tax break over a pay increase. It's sad that I am having to pay every tax season while lazy welfare recipients are banking my $$$$. I can never work again and this is the thanks I get from my country.

I went through that hassle with the VA. I've been trying to get physical therapy for my back, but they will only pay for 6 visits to my remote out of area clinic. Tricare will approve 30, but the retired Captain who works at the clinic told me Tricare will only authorize them to do limited, basically low-quality therapy: not the full range of therapy and services needed for my situation. I could NOT believe that! For all of my health care that I get from a civilian, Tricare is only approving them to do the BARE minimums to keep me comfortable and alive....not what I need to get better or properly diagnose and treat me! The VA isn't much different. It seems like the higher the disability, the more they want you to die so they save money!

Oh, and I pay over $200 every month for out-of-pocket prescription expenses myself. The medications that ACTUALLY work....the VA and Tricare will not cover. Isn't that odd?

I saw a T-Shirt that read: The VA Hospital: Giving Veterans a second chance to die for their country! How TRUE that is!

I feel your pain man....I SO feel your pain.

Granted 1.3% isn't something to throw a party about, but it's something.

PS I'm a vet. I'm all for more too. :)

Please note the date August 2015. That pay raise did not happen! I don't know where you thought you got one but you did not get one red cent! I might add neither did anyone on Social Security. Yet Senators and Representatives sure did.

I don't know if you are able to work, but hundreds of thousands of vets are unable to work. Besides being 100% I am basely home bound. Yet I have to travel over two hours to get to my VA. I have limited my trips to one or two times a month. The VA does not pay for a good number of my non prescription medications, and supplies. For instance cleaning for my CPAP, extra Test strips for my diabetes, I test 6 to 8 times, I have stage three kidney disease, cancer, and blood clothing issues, just to name a few, my health is poor. I have to use special spray in my nose that costs extra. Over all we spend about $100. that the VA does not pay for. I do use the Choice program for five other specialists. I am putting one 1,500 miles a month all together and 42 cents a mile does not even come close to pay for my actual mileage. Congress men and women get more, why don't we?

I do not know your age, or if you are able to work, but yes a 1.3 % raise would have been good, but we got NOTHING!

nagement doctor. He said the VA no longer will pay for a Chiropractor. The reason is some doctors scammed the VA for over $300,000. in visits to a couple of Vets. Why punish the rest of us, go after that dishonest thief of a doctor and put him or them behind bars. I was going a couple of times a year until my spinal cord became so close to being totally enclosed by the bone. Water therapy helped a lot, but they stopped that too.

For me the Choice program has better care for doctors on the outside of the VA than the VA. But finding a doctor that accepts Choice is at times difficult, because they pay about the same as Medicare, which is very low.

Most of us never become disabled. I worked even when I was told I could get total disability. I stayed at 80% for more than 30 years, when I finally was unable to work I faced peoples sear when I was asked what do you do for aliving. I saw this look when buying a vehicle or buying a house stuff like that. Being a disabled person does not bring I am so sorry for that, it brings, you mean you can't find some job to do? What people do not seem to understand is when you are 100% you are not permitted to earn one red cent. I never broke that law, not even for helping in some way for a neighbor or friend.

Yes the VA has huge issues, but it is better than it was 48 years ago.

?? Here's another link, dated 22 Nov: https://www.navycs.com/charts/2016-military-pay-chart.html

Maybe this is just for people still active duty or drilling? Can't say. (PS I didn't get anything as I retired from the Reserves and so don't get anything yet)

I'm sorry for all you're going through and wish you the best. Certainly pay raises have mostly been a joke under Obama regardless (speaking of jokes).

Yes that was for active duty. Yes under the current administration only "pet" projects got and increase. Clearly each president has their favorite group or "pets" they want covered. However under President Regan we has very skimpy increases and even a few years like Obama no pay raise at all.

What I do not understand is I lived in CA when regan was Govener. Sales taxes nearly doubled, he was not a working mand person. As president he busted the PATCO union, and was the same as Obama. He said he was a Christian but never gave much in charity, his wife Nancy consulted astrologists and I felt he did a not too good job. I do not see why so many Rebublicans hold him up so high.

The disabled vets should get free healthcare. They became disabled in the service therefore they should be taken care of. The VA is more corrupt than Chicago politics. Fire all the regional directors, give them zero benefits, since they caused the mess, and start over.

The rest of us able bodied on active duty... oh... I'd be happy with 5% a year.

NY VET can go to the VA and apply for health care. ALL disabled Vets get health care

? Because?

My point is precious few people get a 5% or more pay raise these days, so it seemed kind of stating the obvious to be happy with it. Frankly people in the military should be happy they have a guaranteed job for X years. That is also more than most can say.

I'm not worried about raises being a retiree and I don't think I deserve one since I'm not actively working for the military any longer. I am worried about someone getting elected who will try to cut VA and mil pensions and benefits. Hopefully, there will be a grandfather clause if that ever happens.
