My mom recently got of the phone with a family member, who informed her that I was the reason for a broken relationship between her son and father. This is so completely false and hurtful.

I've been doing lots of reading on what my actions should be as a single Christian woman. A couple is to pray often and be mindful of my words. After this incident like so many other incidents with this family member, I started to say things that I regret and feel guilty for. It was a knee jerk reaction to defend myself.

With the hurtful words and lies, I feel are destroying me and sometimes I feel like this family member is trying to tear my family apart. How do I remain steadfast in remaining silent and trust that what I am doing is right?

First of all there's no use in crying over spilled milk, so forgive yourself for the things you said and move on. My advice would be do not engage with this toxic person at all, cut them off on a no-contact basis because you don't need that kind of toxicity in your life. It will be difficult but you'll be better off for it.

Hold your peace. And KNOW that God will make all things right. This is your faith in Him. This advice is also for all other situations as well.
