Seriously I don't buy that much beer since I learned at my first kegger that I was allergic to beer. I confirmed this with later experimentation and know that I can safely drink about two beers and still breathe.
Gluten allergy? Beers are brewed from too many different things for it just to be a specific grain.
To the OP: I would match the beer to the brat. I can see a kielbasa going well with a good German dark bock, Andouille with an amber, a turkey or chicken sausage with a hefeweizen or crisp pilsner. Sort of how wine works with meat reductions: darker colors for darker/heartier flavors.
I think it may be the hops. Gluten is just fine with me. My brother is vegetarian and at Thanksgiving not only do we have a roasted turkey, there will also be cooked gluten with the meal. I asked for gluten free gluten, but they didn't have any. Seriously the recipe his wife has for gluten makes a passable little roughly burger shaped item to eat.Gluten allergy? You BBQ them AFTER you boil them in beer.... so the time on the grill is only long enough to brown them
Boiling them gives some of the flavor from the beer... makes a WORLD of a difference... once you do it that way you'll never go backOh yah; I've had to get the outside crispy to get the inside done; never thought of boiling them. Hefewiesen should work well.
