We need an extra civil rights clause?
Apparently! Because a certain behavior is deserving of special civil rights. That a sexual behavior is thought to be entitled to civil rights is bad enough. The precedent that would set is frightening. But that's the gateway that's opening in America.

In 20 years you'll be amazed at what has the right not to be offended by morality in America.

Great, another potential president to focus on groups instead of all of America..

Although many people don't recognize it, that IS what defines Democratic Socialism along with all other varieties of Socialism--treating society as a bunch of groups, some of which are to be promoted at the expense of others. By contrast, it is a fundamentally Conservative perspective to see all members of society as having equal rights and worth.

So you believe people should be able to refuse to hire a person, or even fire a person, simply for being homosexual -- even if they aren't sexually active (and, as such, not sinning)? Perhaps we should remove these same "special rights" from Christians have been protected by for the last 50 years?

It is also worth noting that this does not give homosexuals "special rights." Instead, the protected class is "sexual orientation" and it protects all law abiding citizens -- it doesn't matter if they are gay or straight.

Absolutely that's coming. In a few years, any comment that doesn't agree with the federal government's POV will be deemed punishable as hate speech and no one will be allowed to hold a job, attend college, or receive any government benefits if he voices a personal disagreement with any special interest groups that's in favor with the administration.

I agree with you.
There's a book that's been out for years now, The New Thought Police. It's title is a play on the government office in the novel, 1984. Newspeak. When you're told to accept black is white, white is black.

She's a Clinton. She'll say what she needs to say to get where she intends to be.
She didn't use to be for their rights. But lookie here, she is now. Timely.

Welcome to the reality of virtually all politicians.

Ain't it the truth? And if there's a naive good person out there wanting to get into the good old crooks and liars club, if they do, they're apprised of the game rather fast.

Seems to me, I've been hearing this claimed for 30 years or more -- it is always "in a few years". It probably has been longer that that, that people have claimed it would happen "in a few years", even as far back as 1949 (when 1984 was written).

Of course, the closest we have come to this happening is in the 50s, where people were actually persecuted by the government by the House Un-American Activities Committee.

It is also ironic that the atmosphere that is enabling homosexuals to actually come out and admit they are homosexual -- these people feeling they have the freedom to do that -- is what some are claiming will put people "in the closet."

Save like Animal Farm's depictions, some 'animals' have more rights than others.

Democratic Socialists of America
What is Democratic Socialism? Q & A

Democratic socialists believe that both the economy and society should be run democratically—to meet public needs, not to make profits for a few. To achieve a more just society, many structures of our government and economy must be radically transformed through greater economic and social democracy so that ordinary Americans can participate in the many decisions that affect our lives.

Democracy and socialism go hand in hand. All over the world, wherever the idea of democracy has taken root, the vision of socialism has taken root as well—everywhere but in the United States. Because of this, many false ideas about socialism have developed in the US. With this pamphlet, we hope to answer some of your questions about socialism. ......MORE

And yet in order to introduce such a model evolving the secular state it has to be performed subtly. Call it raising up the oppressed, giving them civil rights, then demean those opposed as bigots, subversives, haters, not politically evolved.

It's 2015 and we've done just fine not making sexual behavior a civil rights issue. We've not heard a report or read a headline like, straight woman fired for having husband.

Now, giving protection to someones sex life becomes a civil rights issue. But it really isn't. It's group think.
Protect the SS people.
But the Fed can't do that because it would be unfair to provide a legal protection to one community of people and their sex life , so it's a blanket inclusive thing that incorporates the straights that have never had an issue. All to give rights to the so called oppressed minority. Because we're running out of those to point our finger at and make a group think policy that includes any behavior as a protected right to behave.

Assimilate everyones behavior under blanket Federal protection. And set a precedent for other sexual behaviors to demand their equality.

I agree, it's going to be a very interesting couple of decades ahead. Somehow I don't think Orwell was an author but a prophet. 1984 and Animal Farm should have warned us this was coming.

“Can you not understand that liberty is worth more than just ribbons?”

Seems like they are trying to denigrate her in a guilt by association with homosexual activists. No?

The key word here is activist. However the point is well made, so far in this thread the only denigration has been targeted at Shrillary. Truly, considering the time the American people have had to evaluate her as a person, let alone a candidate, I am surprised anyone supports her.

As for the homosexual activist, they do not annoy me because they are homosexual. They annoy me because they are activist. And I wish they would just shut up.

So conservatives think gay people should be equal to straight people? News to me.

Gays, lesbians, trans genders and bi- sexual need to be protected , since people are willing to discriminate against them. Not let them rent, have jobs, get married and more. I'm so glad they have people to help protect them from misguided or evil people.

They always say that at the top of the slope.

The reason they don't comment when they get to the bottom is that they are completely satisfied to have the slide. Some of us are not, however.

I wish the westboro baptist people would shut up too. But, I respect their right to free speech.
