I had it done when I was 18 I think...I did plan it - all to do with my karate. Thinking of having one of clasped hands and rosary beads in the future, not yet though.
Oh so if you were already into the martial arts at 18, and one of your first big adult decisions was to get a well planned martial arts related tattoo, it can't have been a surprise for mom or dad! (are they inked as well, maybe?)

Sometimes young ppl seem to do it on a whim, almost; others do seem to plan it well, like you seem to have done, especially if they come from a family where getting tattooed is quite a tradition.

My parents are but all mean something - they aren't excessive with them either which is good.
Yeah had a plan for the tattoo before my 18th birthday.
Well, I can maybe understand more the fact of your own motivation for getting tattooed: you're into the marital arts and your mother and your father are tattooed; these can all, separately or together, carry fairly strong likelihood of the person being motivated to doing it, too.

I guess from what you say that both your mother and your father have explained to you also their own motivation for getting tattooed? (whether or not they are into the martial arts).

Hi; so are the ones you already have faith based in their designs?
I have a lion which is my astrological sign but also the lion of judah, and "girl on fire" on my hip, which i believe can also be faith based as "being on fire" for God.

Sounds like they were well planned and that you are comfortable as a tattooed adult.

For some young ppl who get them as a rite of passage at 18, they are sometimes done on a whim (to the surprise of mom and dad) but it sounds like you planned carefully, with a faith based element that you can talk about.

I think perhaps i may have gotten lucky. Maybe the wrong word to use however, i got both of my previous tattoos with other things in mind. Lion, which common can be misconceived and "girl on fire" being a mark from popular music or top rated films. Originally, that was my first thought when i got them. But now I see a stronger message and statement behind them both.

Oh well, you're honest about how it all happened! :)

With the variable meanings, I guess both mom and dad and later dh may have wondered what was coming next by way of ink meanings, but it sounds like you have been eventually quite satisfied with what you got!

Correct, all have specific meaning about life etc.

It must have been very interesting anyway for you to have had both your dad and your mom tell you about the meaning of life through their tattoo desire.
It was - my mother has one of my name in Arabic.

Sounds like she's from the Middle East. So are you an only child? because if you're not, she likely has more ink, for siblings of yours.
Only child, nah from England and Caucasian.

Oh okay, so you're her uniquely special child! and maybe in a sense it's her uniquely special tattoo as well!

So did you go with her to watch it being done? or maybe she surprised you when she came home one day with it.

Sounds anyway like you knew beforehand that she was intending to do it! was it before you did yours, maybe?

... have every intention on getting more
First of a Red Cross to remind me of Gods love and Sacrifice

PS: Sounds like you're determined your next one will be very much faith based and clear in what it refers to!

A lot of Christians find them effective conversation starters, anyway.

If so, she can't have been surprised when 18 came and you did yours.
No, I have been speaking about it for years and my mum Actually came with me.
