Hey names Daniel , 18 and I'm from Ireland this is crazy I'm doing this but I've signed up to this on a whim that came out of no where. I'm not your average Christian, I'm a smoker, I'm a drinker and I say and do things all the time that are against God and is sinful. But I've joined this community because I want to be closer to God and I want to know if anyone's been in my position before? I'm tired of going round in circles and I've never been in a more empty stage of my life and I'm not depressed by any means but something's missing and I think it's god. Please somebody reply to this would love a chat.

I have yet to meet a Christian who is sin free. The difference is that we need to make an effort to follow God as He lays different sins on our heart to repent from. A Christian is forgiven, not sin free.

You have accidentally found your way on the "mature" singles board...you are talking to people who are older than 35 years old and many of much older...

Welcome aboard!
When we come to God through Jesus Christ, we come as we are, worts and all. When we give our life to Him, He will make the changes to you He wants so that we can please Him. Trying to change ourselves is like a leopard trying to change his spots. The important thing is that you've seen an emptiness in your life and are looking to fill it. It's good to do that now rather than waiting until you're much older. When we get older, we're not as open as we once were.

DANIEL WHERE ARE YOU?

I just now found this post you made, and man you are not alone. There is value in the struggle my friend, and working out your own salvation is something we each have to do. I would be more than happy to share stories with you about my own walk that has been in process since 1988. I am 51 years old and as I look back I literally see where GOD has been forming me. The objective of darkness is to get us to give up completely so our lives won't have any impact. If you would like I am willing to share and also LISTEN to anything you have to say, or have questions about. Please get back to me if you read this post.

My best guess is that you're in a process of sanctification like everybody else who is Born Again unless you have to go back and do your first works over (repentance). Sanctification is a lifelong process of holiness. Being around Jesus some things just fall off. While other things we have to surrender to the Lord. Sometimes it's not easy but God is with us to see us through the process. Sometimes people get prayer, healing, and deliverance. Read the Gospel (Mathew, Mark, Luke, John) and learn of Jesus.

It's not enough to come online but you need some mature Christians in your everyday life that you can trust and confide in. Look around and see what and who is available to you in your community. On this site there is the Young Adult Forum where you will find people your age. Remember the Lord can handle any and every thing about you. You're not a mystery to Him. None of us are. Whatever you do always stay with the Lord. He loves you...He really does. Stay encouraged.:)

Simply said I admire your fear. There are those of us in deep and longtime, that have the hottest fire. Our motives become exposed as the Light get's brighter inside. There is indeed value in the struggle, and mine has been intense. My heart longs to serve, and I have cut off many ears. Your reply to Daniel and it's timing was of our FATHER as I needed your words more than you could know at this time. Please whisper a small prayer for me as well, when you are praying for Daniel.

CHRIST CARING,
Tommy

We have all gone through this. Weve all been in your position before. Speaking for myself, when I was near your age I loved to drink and fight. I was just a couple of months short of my 22nd birthday when I took my last drink. That evening I went drinking with some friends. That's about all I remember of that night. The next morning I awoke to find I was hundreds of miles from my home and nearly naked. I had no identification, no wallet, no shoes, no shirt and no pants. I managed to contact some family members who came to my rescue.

Upon returning home, I found out that during my "blackout" I had beaten one of my friends so badly that he spent three days in hospital. I had broken his jaw, his nose, his cheek, his arm, and several of his ribs. I had also dislocated his shoulder, bruised several of his internal organs, and given him a severe concussion. I did this with just my fists. I rededicated my life to God that day. That was in 1989 and I haven't touched a drop of alcohol since. I was a high-functioning alcoholic between the ages of 18 and the day I stopped drinking.

Hi Daniel, just keep praying and asking God to work in your life. God many do something things fast and other things might happen slower. But in a year or two you will see God has done quite a bit of work in your life. Look to learn about God and what He has done in the past by reading the Bible. Look for what God is doing around you today by looking for some other Christians and be part of their life.
You'll be fine as you find your love for God growing.
