* If you're an adherent of Wahhabi Islam you work at the DMV, you no longer have to issue driver's licenses to women.
* If you’re a Jehovah's Witness you can refuse to take Christmas off work. You just show up and do whatever you do all day.
* If you’re Catholic and a pharmacist, you can refuse to fill prescriptions for birth control.
* If you’re a Quaker you could enlist in the army for education benefits and simply refuse to shoot a gun or fight anyone.
* If you’re a Mormon you can get a job at the liquor control board and then refuse to issue any licenses to any bars.
* If you’re a Mormon and you get a job as a health inspector you can refuse to issue reports for any coffee shops serving caffeinated beverages.
* If you are a Rastafarian, you can work anywhere and refuse to attend any important meeting where you are not allowed to smoke your chalice of herb.
* If you are Amish, you can get a job as a high school teacher and then just not show up to work, ever, since children should not be educated past the eighth grade.
* If you're a Christian Scientist cab driver, you don't have to take anyone to the hospital, even if they’re dying.
* If you’re a cop who is also a member of the Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster, you refuse to take off your pirate regalia and put on your police uniform.
* If you’re Hindu and get a job as a USDA livestock inspector, you can refuse to inspect cattle marked for slaughter. A Muslim or Orthodox Jewish inspector might decide the same for pork.
* If you’re Jewish, you can get a job at a school cafeteria and refuse to prepare non-kosher meals.
* If you’re a Seventh Day Adventist and a mail carrier, you can refuse to work on Saturday but and deliver your route on Sunday instead.
* If you’re a Jain and a sanitation worker, you could refuse to compact trash because it kills bugs.
* If you’re a Hare Krishna bodega employee, you can refuse to honor winning lottery scratchers.

Oh c'mon. That scenario is a bit dramatized. The way things are going according to what you posted is that only atheists will be employable. Really?
In one of the threads on a different board here someone made notice , when talking about Ms.Davis, a Christian noted how harsh some self-identified Christians appeared more like wolves disguised as sheep. One person admitted to being such a wolf. I think it true since wolves travel in packs.
This thread is ridiculous.

God have mercy.

Seriously, the majority of Christians out there actually do their jobs. This scenario is just ridiculous. I remember reading something awhile back where it was said Christians should not be doctors if they could not perform an abortion. Catholics should not be pharmacists if they could not distribute birth control. The list goes on. The only thing if I were in these types professions would be not participate in an abortion. Whether I personally agree or not is not a factor if two men or two women want a marriage certificate. Maybe we should pray for these people instead as we do our jobs. I do however feel the judges overstepped their bounds on this one. What happened to States having a say on what they want?

parousia70, I agree with your original post. I think the worst thing that could ever happen to this country would be if it turned into a religious theocracy and one specific religion was dominate over all other religions and people. However, it's assuring to know that this country and its government is secular. It's also assuring to know that the government will step in and defend the equal rights and civil rights of all citizens living in this country, regardless of their religious preference. I did want to tell you that while I was reading your post, a scripture passage came to my mind, it's Luke 18:9-14, and it came to mind because in the passage Jesus was addressing the Pharisees who were looking down on other people because they were different. I thought this passage was relevant to the current situation going on now. Anyway, well done on your post.

do you think a Catholic pharmacist should be forced to fill a prescription for the Morning After pill that can work as an abortifaciant?

Oh, also Christians would not be able to work in Death Camps

seems like a lot of German Christians in the 1930's were brave enough to keep their faith only a private matter
they had no problem doing their job and being in 100% compliance with the government

that IS what the OP is asking for right?

sure you can believe whatever you want at home
but when you are on the job, well achtung soldier
best fall in line

I think we have to make a distinction when it comes to creating and following law. If no argument can be made for a law outside of a specific religious argument, then such a thing shouldn't be a law in a society that is inclusive of all faiths or the absence of faith.
Religion groups should of course be free to impose stricter standards on their willing members, but can't use the legal system to enforce them.
For instance a religious group could require it's members to adhere to as modest standard of dress, or fast during certain holidays but shouldn't try to legislate that for society as a whole. When laws like that are found in the societies legal code they should be removed.

I agree with you completely. I don't want to live in a religious theocracy, Christian or otherwise. I don't want a religious motivated government telling me how I can worship the Great Spirit or worse tell me that I can't. I feel my spirituality is no one's business but my own, least of all, the government's business. I have to contend enough with some religious people trying to convert me back to my former faith, which I find annoying, especially the ones who occasionally come to my house. I honestly wish that people would learn to leave other people alone concerning their spirituality and stop trying to pry into their spirituality. So, I do agree with your post, my friend.

A lot of these involve people knowingly choosing a profession that requires doing something they don't believe in. Kim Davis didn't do that so I'm a bit confused by the comparisons.

Praying for other souls to be condemned to Hell?
Praying for the Lord to do exactly what he said he would do, and that's separate the wolves from the sheep.

I'm sorry but that doesn't sound good at all. Jesus told His followers to love their enemies, to pray for their enemies, and do good to their enemies. He also told them to turn the other cheek, to treat others how they want to be treated, let their light shine before men, and to lift Him up so He could draw all men unto Himself.

Edited: I spent over 30 years of my life in the Christian church, so I am quite familiar with the scriptures. I have read the bible from cover to cover more than once over the years, so I am not ignorant of the scriptures. So, I would like to add Hebrews 4:12 to my post because it says that the word of God is a two-edged sword.

I always find it humorous when unbelievers quote the Bible at us like a weapon. I wish they'd stop quote mining it and actually read it. Like this little gem, 1 Corinthians 2:14. Then they'd know how ridiculous they look to us when they start posting them.
