There´s some kind of anniversary coming up, isn´t there? But maybe I was reading too much into it?
Doesn´t really matter, though, I think. Most towns have and want to have visitors all the time, anyway.
That´s why in many towns here there is a ban for the homeless (and other such human nuisances) around the central station.

I guess nobody wants the thought "This could be me" to creep in. It´s "them".
Hey, in my early twenties I lived among the homeless for a couple of years.

Aaah, ok, yes, the town getting visitors/tourists...thanks for the clarification....

Yes, the "them" factor....not realizing that any of us could be the "them" ourselves....and that the definition of "them" could change at any time

it's perhaps the antithesis to "we"

Maybe "we" is too threatening or dangerous?

i dunno....

Everybody´s gonna get wasted, they wil urinate where they want to, and there´ll be vomit in every corner. But, alas, that´s us (the actually orderly, proper, hard working people who have earned our right to a bit of entertainment), and not them lazy failures.

Maybe I am misreading your post but to me that claim is out of order. I would expect understanding if you had experienced it and also knowledge that the homeless are not all 'lazy failures'.

Sorry for being misleading. I felt it was obvious that this wasn´t my own sentiment.
I meant to describe the attitude leading towards those means and methods of dealing with the homeless.

Not to worry then. I did re-read your post several times as I wasn't entirely sure of the intent; easy to get mixed up over wording, sorry about that.

Brinny told someone she hated them the other day for lack of a comma :D

Not your fault.
To be entirely clear: It has always been my conviction, that the quality of a society can be told by the way it deals with the weakest, the most unfortunate, the outsiders...

That´s not the brinny I´ve come to know. ;)

(wasn't sure where to put this)

Are the homeless criminals?

Just respond with what first comes to mind after you read the question.

Thanks.
This conversation has potential to prove an awesome point. If laws are stupid, are people really criminals for breaking them?
Cities think homeless are unsightly so they make laws that essentially make them illegal. But they don't go anywhere!

Oh yes! That way they'll go away.
To where!

Yes, where? That's a bit scary, though, isn't it? Many of our vets are homeless, tragically.....

Or....I can use the law to get arrested and not have to deal with the heroin at the homeless shelter. That's what they do. Get arrested and now you're not homeless. I don't know what the solution is, but these laws sure ain't it. Out here in the desert, people just camp in the giant mesquite fields behind stores. We have huge tracts of undeveloped lsnd. Pretty awesome place to be homeless!

Sounds like a survival skill.

No, they're not.
