If everyone who sinned was put out of the church there would be no one in it. Being a sinner isn't the same as being evil.
Apparently Paul thought the person in question was evil, and he was certainly in a better position to know than we are.

People are forgetting the difference between churchgoers who are sinners and churchgoers who are UNREPENTANT sinners. Putting the first of these out of the church wouldn't be right, as others have said. But in the case of the second....

Precisely. He knew that person to be evil, which is wholly different than universally deciding everyone of a sexual orientation is evil and banning or ostracizing them from all churches. The posts evolved from Catherine's simple but correct response of "grace."

Most churchgoers seem to be unrepentant sinners.

That's not much of a retort, if you ask me. And of course it doesn't address the issue, which is that we're talking about some folks who are 1) public about their lifestyle, and 2) insist that it's not a sin.

Your point? Not everyone shares the same interpretation of the Bible.

Oh, I'm sorry if that wasn't clear. Here's what I meant:
"...we're talking about some folks who are 1) public about their lifestyle, and 2) insist that it's not a sin."

In other words, "Should 'sinners' be expelled from the church?" is NOT the issue.

Everyone is public about their "lifestyle", and so what if people don't view it as a sin? You're not God. You can be wrong.

Did God?

News article excerpt below with link to full article.

Question: Can any Episcopal or Anglican posters here on Christian Forums explain how a denomination founded on Holy Scriptures and ancient church creeds and councils come to officially endorsing same sex marriage?

SALT LAKE CITY — The Episcopal Church has completed its embrace of gay rights, changing church law to allow same-sex religious marriages throughout the denomination, just days after the U.S. Supreme Court legalized gay marriage nationwide.
The new policy won overwhelming approval from the top Episcopal legislative body Wednesday, following decades of debate and conflict. It came 12 years after the denomination blazed a trail by electing the first openly gay bishop.

That Episcopal Church, like many others, has abandoned the truth of God.

Be aware though that there are rules that constrain free dialog on a denominational community board. You'll not be free to opine on this decision if you are not in accord with it, and per the rules that contain dialog on denominational community boards.

Amen. I find it very interesting that Churches are falling away from Biblical teachings. God did say it would happen, but I just didn't realize that it would happen in my lifetime. Now whenever I hear stuff like this I am reminded again of the truth of God's word. Fascinating just fascinating. Its also sad to see because it just means that the world is going to a darker and darker place. As we move further from God the worse it will get. It's becoming easier to see how these churches will side with the anti-christ. Once you start abandoning the truth of God's word for the truth of man you are no longer part of the true church and will lose God's covering. The Episcopal Church is in grave danger.

Oh no! Different denominations interpreting the Bible differently! Whatever shall we do?
