"Who Could That Be at This Hour?" By Lemony Snicket

ohhhhhh how is it?
I read like 4 or 5 of those "Series of Unfortunate Events" books when I was a teen
they were cool but I was a little too old for them
wish they came out like 3 years earlier

I read them as an adult.
I didn't like every single book in the series but that author amuses me greatly. I'm more into juvenile fiction than in "adult" fiction anyway.
The book im reading now is the first in a new series. I like it because it is still the same target audience as series of unfortunate events. Where as another book he wrote which was targeted for teens was kinda boring and stupid in my opinion - plus it wasn't with Snicket as narrator so perhaps it changed the tone too much.
I guess its kinda like how JK Rowling is incapable of writing an interesting adult fiction book while she wrote pretty good for kids.

The thing about Lemony Snicket books isnt the story (or the characters) its the writing style. I appreciate the wit and references and other things.

Now reading discerning and defeating the ahab spirit by Steve Sampson.

Interesting so far...but its mostly for guys married to jezebel wives rather than for daughters with controlling mothers.

The next one might be more edifying called Kindred Hearts about mother daughter relationships.

The book I'm reading at the moment is one I started reading a long time ago. For some reason I laid it aside while reading other books, but now I'm surely going to finish it. It's quite interesting, but then again I'm a huge fan of history books. :)

finished reading Bridge to Haven. Pretty good.
I dont know...but seem to notice a running theme of abortions through Rivers books.

Leotas Garden had one
bridge to Haven has one..
I think the Atonement child was about that although I havent read it.
And the shofar blew doesnt have one although thats about church.
Redeeming love had one.

I suppose like guys thrillers have murders or passion killings womens books have abortions. IDK. I think id like to read one book where the woman wasnt so weak and had sex before marriage then killed the baby.

Review: The Canaanites weren’t the “worst sinners ever”: engaging Copan and Flannagan on Canaanite extermination
January 26, 2015 by Peter Enns
http://www.amazon.com/Did-God-Reall...-fkmr3&keywords=did+god+really+order+genocide
Excerpt..."First, I am very glad to see the authors make a point that needs to be made over and over again, namely describing the biblical accounts of the Canaanite extermination as “hagiographic hyperbole” (a term borrowed from another philosopher, Nicolas Wolterstorff)."The basic idea is that the accounts of Israel’s early battles in Canaan are narrated in a particular style, which is not intended to be literal in all of its details and contains a lot of hyperbole, formulaic language and literary expressions for rhetorical effect. We argue in our book that the evidence both from within the Bible and from other ancient Near Eastern conquest accounts supports this conclusion.”

Read a book called 'real marriage' by mark and grace driscoll.

The truth about sex, friendship and dating.

Basically if you married, their advice is to go on date nights. Ok.
Also, go to biblical counselling a lot and go to church. If you 'unchurched' its bad.
It doesnt say how they met. Mark was into inappropriate content and grace was sexually abused. So they were made for each other. Or something. I dont know, their marriage didnt sound like fun at all.

The message, married people need Jesus more than single people cos they end up hating each other if hes not in the midst of them.
