Elijah, defended the worship of Yahweh over that of the Canaanite idol Baal. He also had God perform miracles for him, which included raising the dead, bringing fire down from the sky, and having himself be taken up, "by a whirlwind".

Goliath (1 Samuel 17) - a man from Gath, he was the 9' 9" bully of the Philistine army who taunted King Saul and "the armies of the Living God". In the end, this fully armored monster was felled by an untrained, unprotected shepherd boy from Israel by the use of a slingshot and a single smooth brook stone.

As they approached one another on the Battlefield, Goliath cursed David to his gods and said to him,

Come to me, and I will give your flesh to the birds of the sky and the beasts of the field.~1 Samuel 17:44
To which young David replied,

You come to me with a sword, a spear, and a javelin, but I come to you in the name of the LORD of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have taunted. This day the LORD will deliver you up into my hands, and I will strike you down and remove your head from you. And I will give the dead bodies of the army of the Philistines this day to the birds of the sky and the wild beasts of the earth, that all the earth may know that there is a God in Israel, and that all this assembly may know that the LORD does not deliver by sword or by spear; for the battle is the LORD’S and He will give you into our hands.~1 Sam 17:45–47

Hannah ~ 12 century B.C., 1 Samuel 1:2

This woman longed for a child. Although barren, she came fruitful and bore her son Samuel. Her story is a lovely illustration of God answering this woman's constant prayer and supplication and how she kept her vow when her child was weaned and gave Him to God for His service.

Lot - the nephew of Abraham and a righteous man (see 2 Peter 2:7) living in Sodom, who apparently did not hold his two virgin daughters in the highest regard (Genesis 19:8) but they, on the other hand, didn't have a similar problem with him apparently (Genesis 19:32). Perhaps he was right all along about them?

He also had a wife who got herself into a lot of trouble with God because she was nosy rather than obedient (Genesis 19:26), at a time when ONLY obedience would do

Nathanael (a.k.a. Bartholomew) - was one of the Twelve and always seemed to be paired with his friend, the Apostle Phillip (who first introduced him to the Lord). He was from Cana of Galilee and a student of Scripture, a seeker after divine truth and well acquainted with the messianic prophecies of the Old Testament.

He is perhaps most famous for this exchange with Jesus when they first met (from John 1):

47 Jesus saw Nathanael coming to Him, and said of him, “Behold, an Israelite indeed, in whom there is no deceit!”
48 Nathanael said to Him, “How do You know me?” Jesus answered and said to him, “Before Philip called you, when you were under the fig tree, I saw you.”
49 Nathanael answered Him, “Rabbi, You are the Son of God; You are the King of Israel.”
50 Jesus answered and said to him, “Because I said to you that I saw you under the fig tree, do you believe? You will see greater things than these.”

51 And He said to him, “Truly, truly, I say to you, you will see the heavens opened and the angels of God ascending and descending on the Son of Man.”
