Speaking after the semi-annual three-day conservative confab hosted by the billionaire brothers this weekend where GOP presidential candidates Carly Fiorina, Scott Walker, Marco Rubio, Jeb Bush and Ted Cruz all gathered to cozy up with Koch network donors, Fiorina called it as it actually is:

“We have a right — everyone has a right — to speech in this country. And as we all know, any kind of speech costs money in this country.”

Bottom line is those with out money get none of that supposed free speech. Those with the most money get the most free speech.

Gotta love the honesty that can slip out.

I don't know where she stands on the issues that are important to me and this country. I followed her since her time at HP and thought, and still think she got a raw deal. Would I vote for her? Don't know. Honesty is good if she's on the right side of the issues. By right side I don't necessarily mean conservative or right wing.

Having an insiders view of what she did to HP through a friend of mine, I don't think she got a raw deal. She destroyed that company's culture, demoralized the ones that where left, and then fired a third of them. And then did it again (which finally got my friend fired). I don't know what she was trying to do with the company, but the employees when from happy to fearing for their jobs. She, in short, gutted the spirit out of that company.

And no doubt she did all this in order to increase her bottom line so she could afford some of that "free" speech.

She probably should have paid all employees $70,000 instead of expecting the company to operate profitably.

Hi,
I was there when she arrived. I saw her in action. If you put your faith and trust in her, unless she has changed since her HP/HWP days, then you will be dissapointed, unless you are also, like her.
LOVE,
...Mary., .... .

Tell me, what words are confusing you? What meanings are you thinking are misused? Let me know, perhaps I can help.

I think that you're mistaking freedom of speech with right to be heard. Outside of a courtroom or a voting booth, nobody has a right to be heard.

Go to a tv station, tell them, "Free speech is free" and tell them to let you on the air to spread your message.

Or call the newspaper and tell them you want to put out a full page ad showing your feelings on an issue.

See Ms. Fiorina understands that people generally want to be paid for their labor. While speech is free, getting your message out to almost 400 million people isn't.

While Carly Fiorina may not have made many friends at HP during her tenure there it deserves to be mentioned that HP still survives as a computer company. Few of its competitors from that same time period have done as well.

Sometimes surviving is tough. Just ask anyone from Greece.

Comparing her time at HP to Greece isn't exactly a great endorsement.

LOL, it wasn't intended as a great endorsement.

My opinion is that she was adequate as a CEO, better than many, not nearly as good as the best.

No, most people there where already making more than 70,000 (if you where on the developer side of things). And they use to have the manufacturing at the home office, then they moved it to mexico, and then elsewhere. I remember that period well, HP product took a hit in quality during that time.

HP use to be the leader in printers, they are not anymore thanks to Carly.

Oh, please. HP computer quality has always had a bad reputation.

Noting though that the earlier Hewlett-Packard test equipment company had an excellent reputation ... but that was in an era before modern computers.

Noting that HP mostly rebranded printers made by other manufacturers.

The first pc I ever purchased was a HP. Got it in the early to mid 90's.. well my parents helped me get it.

Anyway after a few months with it I got a letter in the mail, HP had been sued in a class action suit because they were using old parts in "new pcs" and selling them as new. Got a new HDD out of that and a healthy skepticism towards HP. I don't think I've bought a product of theirs since.
