Hi there! I'm tentatively swaying towards Christ after about 5 years of pretty solid agnosticism. I've come here to wheedle you kind folks with questions about the faith until you get tired of my nagging and throw me out of town. Until then, I look forward to talking with you.

OH! And here's a question: How is one supposed to pray? I've been trying to pray lately, and all I've been doing is, well... talking to God. Standing there in empty and silent rooms and addressing God in plain speech, being honest, acknowledging that I didn't know if He's real or if I'm just talking to myself, asking to know Him better, asking for faith if faith is mandatory, asking for guidance. Sometimes it has a tremendous emotional effect on me, and sometimes I don't feel much of anything, but I know that I like it. I just want to make sure that I'm doing it right. Is there any procedure that I'm supposed to be following?

But yeah, nice to meet y'all!

A warm welcome to the forum, there are plenty of us who are more than happy to answer your questions.

No set procedure to praying, sounds like you are on the right track. I'll second tigger's suggestion, try reading the bible and continue praying. I wish you all the best and hope you get the answers you need.

Welcome to CF. The Christian experience begins with repentance. You must come to the understanding that you are a sinner and that you need a savior. This idea should dominate your thoughts and prayers. You also need to put yourself in the way of Gods grace, by making use of the means of grace regularly. Things like going to church, studying your Bible, praying often and helping others with your time and money.

Find a good church, purchase a study Bible and make regular time for prayer.

You got some good advice here, friend. Welcome to CF, and keep searching for answers to Christianity and spiritual life. Let me urge you to begin reading in the Bible in John 1; John 3; John 14 to see what God has provided for us in this age. Pray to God about that in earnest and you will be led by Him. God wants us to be eternally saved, and that salvation is what God has provided in His "beloved Son" (note Mark 9:1-8)..

directory, prayer is talking to God. sounds like you have similar questions about God that I was asking myself many years ago before I found the truth and became a genuine believer. Please read my testimony at the link below.
