Well, your post said that it was about thinking of her as a "servant" (of God).
Go back and read my post again. There is nothing wrong with her being a servant. There is something wrong with disrespecting even servents.

Of course she is. But it's not okay to disrespect even the servants.

What "disrespect" are you even talking about? I don't see praying to God instead of Mary as disrespecting Mary. I don't pray to Peter, or Moses, or Elijah, or David either. There's a reason for that, and it has nothing to do with disrespect.

Like when people call her an incubator.

That's it then? So it's not about people who say we shouldn't be praying to her, or elevating her above Jesus?

People who say it is worthless to pray to her because the dead can't hear us have a legitimate disagreement. They understand the Catholic position, and hold an opinion that is different.

People who say that Catholics elevate Mary above Jesus have an ILLEGITIMATE disagreement, because the are mistaken about Catholic belief. Therefore they only differ with a Straw Man.

I've actually heard this reasoning being used as a reason to pray to her. They say that Mary is more important than Jesus because she is His mother.

Preposterous. Any Catholic that says such a thing was sleeping through catechism. They say 25% of the population doesn't know the earth orbits the sun, so there are probably some uneducated Catholics who wrongly think Mary is more important.

Rise above the fray and go to the catechism for correct Catholic teaching. Pope John XXIII said, "The Madonna is not pleased when she is put above her Son."

I guess there are quite a few uneducated Catholics then, because I can't begin to count the number of times I've heard the repetitive prayers made to Mary. "Mother Mary, full of grace....."

I think you mean Hail Mary full of Grace, which is what the angel Gabriel said to Mary. Now, how is that related to what we were talking about?

Can you elaborate a little more? Your point is lost on me. I don't even know what you mean by your comment.

God's Grace is only realized through Jesus Christ, therefore Grace doesn't come by Mary. Mary was given Grace by God through the Son, the Living Word who existed before Mary was created.

What does any of that have to do with the angel Gabriel greeting Mary with "Hail Mary, full of grace..." ????

He didn't reply to her ........'full of grace' as you have stated in your previous comment.

Actually he did. The greek word, kecharitomene (which is used only one time in scripture) has charitoo as its root word, which means grace. Catholic scholars sometimes translate this as grace and sometimes as favored. I am not personally a scholar, but it seems to me there are good arguments on both sides, as neither translation really captures what kecharitomene means. The best way to think about it is that both translations, "full of grace" and "highly favored one," are correct.

First of all, that prayer isn't much more than a memorized chant that is repeated without meaning. Second, as far as what we're talking about, or more importantly getting back to the subject of the thread which is titled, "Why don't protestants bless Mary?", I don't know how we are supposed to "bless" her. She's dead and is in Heaven. I don't think we really need to add to that.

And how do you know that? It is full of meaning for the 1.2 billion Catholics who pray it and would disagree with you.

Actually, yes I have used memorized poems for example when in love. Do you have a problem with non-improvised prayer in general? Like, you don't use the Lord's prayer and stuff?
