Thought I'd post my introduction thread so here goes.

I'm 26 years old and I live in the UK. I was Christened as a child and grew up practising Christianity and believing in God, but as I got older (about 10/11) I stopped going to church and wasn't sure what to believe any more.

My dad is a practising Christian although not particularly devout and my mom hates religion.

I have signed up hoping to participate in some discussions and learn a bit more about the religion. I'm not sure if I want to practice Christianity again but I am not ruling that out either.

Feel free to ask me any questions you may have.

Thanks :)

Blessings all,
My name is Kathy. I'll be 60 years old in a few weeks. I have been a Christian for many years and I love The Lord with all my heart. I'm hoping to become friends with other strong, Christian women like myself. I'd like to make friendships where we are positive, encouraging, prayer partners who can share experiences and learn from each other. Some hobbies of mine are cooking, baking, relaxing down the shore, doing arts and crafts, as well as laughing and spending time with my wonderful children.
I pray you all have a blessed day!
Sincerely,
Kathy

Thanks for all the replies and the warm welcome.

What is the difference between the two here?

Religion is about what we do (human centered) and is only good if it builds faith (by the means of grace).

Faith is about trusting what Christ has done (He lived a perfect life and died on the cross) for us.

Your religious activity will not save you. Your faith in Christ will.

Hi; good to see you; God bless His Word to you. The best thing is to find out from the Bible what it actually says about the Lord Jesus Christ; rather than figuring whether to adopt the sort of Christianity that various people seem to practise in various ways. John's Gospel, especially John 3.16, is a good place to read.

Recently I've been going through a bad time which reached its worst period in September 2016. In October I was falling asleep to Christian radio in the UK called Premier Praise. I've been starting to read my bible which is just the New Testament and Psalms and was given to me at school 15 years ago by the Gideons. I've never read this little book but I've always kept it and I don't know why.

Anyway, I'm back and hopefully for good this time. I'm describing myself as a cultural Christian and trying to find out what I believe.

Welcome back Chicken

Don't worry - I'm pretty sure that if we are all totally honest , we've all been through spells like this.

You are back now - and trying to get back on track too , and that's what matters.

Thank you.

I was interested in asking, what is the general opinion of scripture among Christians or yourself would you say? Is it taken as literal or is it looked at as inspired text that isn't infallible? I like the idea of Christianity being a faith not a religion that was posted above which I would have an easier time embracing.
