I must be getting sentimental in my old age as I'm near getting tearful at two movies:

Somewhere In Time -

Dracula
(Spanish language version - 1931) -

Let me explain:

First, "Somewhere In Time" - a old buddy lent me a copy of this film as he thought I would like it. At first I balked because I knew it was a romance movie and these are not my genre. But then I saw the name Richard Matheson (writer) and knew it had to be good as he was one of the writers for my favorite tv shows, "Twilight Zone". Sure enough, I loved the movie. But what got me was near the end as Richard Collier lost the love of his life. Good news happened thereafter so I won't spoil it for those who have not seen the movie.

Mr Matheson, like me, is originally from Brooklyn, NY. We always thought alike - years ago both of us fell utterly in love with a picture of Broadway beauty Maude Adams:

and both of us dreamed that we could go back in time just to meet her. How I wish that was possible as I am totally enthralled by this picture.

As for "Dracula" - I had not seen that version in 50 years and just watched it recently. Film critics over a span of 30+ years said it was "superior" to the Lugosi version. Why on earth did it take me 50 years to watch this classic again??? Still, I don't know why I felt so sentimental about it after the movie ended.

By the way, there were several excellent Dracula movies made in Mexico during the 1950s. Critics loved these back then and, like the 1931 version, they have been forgotten - but not by me! And I just got good news yesterday - my librarian told me he has found a copy of two of these movies and will send them my way real soon.

That's GREAT news!!!

Every once in a while, a powerful moment in a movie will make me tear up.

The second sunrise scene in Brave had tears running down my cheeks. When Merida finally admits to her fault and what she'd done to her mom, and she says "I did this to you", it just breaks my heart.

The beginning of Oliver and Company does it as well, with the first song played while Oliver is waiting in the cardboard box and gets washed out by the rain: "So Oliver don't you cry".

My wife and I had the foresight to bring a box of Kleenex to Passion of the Christ. And with good reason. We were handing out tissues all down our line of seats and had plenty left for ourselves. Thank God for large purses.

I came very close watching Green Mile. My wife broke at the end when John Coffee, like the drank, died.
Loved the little mouse.

I admire the kind of writing that can bring me to the brink. I like to lose myself in a good movie. Doesn't happen often now though.

I have never been prone to crying during a movie but after watching 12 Years a Slave I came really close. Do movies ever make you cry and if so is there one that always makes you tear up?

I cry at all underdog and outcast movies.

Last film I cried at was "Home" (2015), not only, I was 99% like the lead alien character "Oh", his human best friend had the name of my dog who died last year. I thought maybe God made that movie for me and I just cried even more!

I have not seen that movie passion of the christ either.
I think it would upset me too much.

Is it just the same as the Jesus movie? Ive seen that one.
No that's nothing compared to that. Wouldn't watch it. I always walked away from church when they watched it.

Oh, yeah.

The end of Braveheart made me cry.
The ghetto liquidation scene in Schindler's List made me cry.
The Scott monument scene in Cloud Atlas made me cry.
The end of Letters from Iwo Jima made me cry.
The Grey Havens departure in The Return of the King made me cry.
The Passion of the Christ made me cry.

Heck, I even cried during the reunion scene in Dragonworld and that was a low budget direct-to-video film about a freaking Scottish dragon puppet stolen to finance an amusement park.

Just 'cause I cry during movies doesn't make me any less of an awesome guy.

The previous film was a lot better. The new film gave far too much emphasis on the sacrifice of Christ rather than His preachings.

Jesus said "I desire mercy over sacrifice". So the new film gave the opposite meaning.

But I wouldn't be surprised. Jews are quite prominent in Hollywood and quite influential to Mel Gibson. The original film was too anti-Jewish so, probably, that was more than enough for them.

It will infuriate the Jews to have a remake of the original film, unlike that made by Mel Gibson.

Jesus opposed Pharisee which is the modern Judaism, so what do you expect. Orthodox Jews do hate Jesus, even some associate Jesus with Hitler!

Too much Jewish lobbying is dangerous to Christianity. They have outlawed most related to Nazi ideals - just about anything that opposes Jewry. Only one ideal is left that opposes Jewry and that is Jesus Christ.

Of course, the Passion of the Christ did make me cry.

Well...yeah. It was called The Passion of the Christ. That kind of restricts its subject to a specific timeframe. ;)
