What do you use?
Why do you hate OKC?
Share me your wisdom :)

I can't tell you what I use, lol.

Why do I hate OKC? Because it's pretty much vanilla dating.

It's only good as a testing ground. If you're into vanilla relationships, I guess it's alright.

Back when I first got online, there were no online dating sites. In fact, the only ISP's in my area were AOL and MSN. DSL, Cable weren't available, either.

So, my first "online dating experience" came by way of chatting in online chat rooms. One girl in particular used to hang out in the same kind of chat rooms as I. So, we struck up an online friendship and after about 6 or 7 months, she tells me she is going to be visiting some friends "near me". Near me is in Spartanburg, SC, which isn't anywhere close to me. But I decide to make the drive to actually meet her in person. So, we meet. Online, she told me she was 5'4". She is actually 4'10". She told me she was from Atlanta, but when we meet she has a Russian accent. The only truthful thing I got from her was her picture, but there were no reference points to show how tall she was. Anyway, we spend nearly 12 hours visiting her friends and then later, just me and her talking at a restaurant. After spending that much time with her, I can tell she isn't the one. She talked incessantly. By the end of the visit, I pretty much knew her life story. All the graphic details, which weren't pretty.

About a month goes by and one day I arrive home from work to find her sitting in her car in my driveway. Now, I didn't give her my address. She knew the county in which I lived. She drove here, stopped at a gas station, and looked me up in the stores phone book.

Needless to say, I wont try online dating because from what Ive heard, things have only gotten worse.

One thing I really dislike about OKCupid is that even though they've added an "asexual" option (which is greatly appreciated), they haven't updated many, if any (I haven't been through them all) of their sexual questions to include an asexual option.

Like one asks how long you would like to wait before having sex with someone you meet, and it gives several answers that range from "Right away" to "After marriage", but I can't really answer that question because my answer is "Never", which is not included.

Right now I'm definitely more into a casual friend I can call and chat with.. Support and get support from.
Or basically marriage material which I'm not after until I move.
Right now I'm just laughing some at quick match. So many move to Hawai'i for the dream that's total BS, they're hippies, people who just have to be here since it's Hawai'i, want to have fun, know the place, and think it's magical. More like a living hell after a few years ahahaha!

Also, I just got a message from somebody who's profile picture scared me.
Said the distance won't work, and thanked her for the message..

Oh crap this is sad. Poor things.. Make me feel like a decent guy here.
No I don't want to sleep with you. No I don't want to scam on you.
No I don't want anything weird from you. No I don't want photos from you. How about a conversation that's clean, witty, and halfway decent?
Hmm. I'll find one to message and maybe I'll land a decent friend I can call time to time.

I forgot how entertaining this is. Some are so full of themselves since they're rather attractive and sound like they weirld authority. Others less. Few in Hawaii though. Should have did this earlier. It's almost a little therapeutic to look through a bunch of profiles on quick match. Only messaged one out of 100 or so though.

I'm on OKCupid, but I don't think I have the patience for it. People say that it's a numbers game, and you have to send out tons of messages to garner a handful of responses; and I'd rather spend my time doing something more worthwhile than taking hours out of my day shotgunning messages and conversation starters (with enough I-saw-your-profile detail not to come across as generic) to anyone with a pulse and a living faith in Christ.

Lame question.
Why do so many say they like Netflix and to chill?
Sounds like a codeword for lazy. Not to be critical but I've got a few sisters and don't want that!

Also. I haven't really worked on my profile in 8 months. It needs serious help.
What's worst and how can I fix it? It probably needs to be burned down to the ground first then rewritten. I say that since I don't want to hear "your profile is terrible" ahaah

How many matches do you get?
I get the idea that it's hundred on such sites.
Since this is a small country my matches are like 40 maybe, I can skip almost everyone since they all don't care to shack up. Only a few are left who are not interested.
I talked to 3 guys in 2 days and I'm exhausted lol.

It ALL depends on:-

- Your type of personality
- How well you can communicate through the written word
- Your circumstances - i.e. a high power career guy, living in the sticks, isn't going to have the means to meet people easily
- What YOU personally like - never mind what everyone else says you SHOULD do
- If you wish to meet a broad range of personalties within a condensed environment
- If you're open minded and open to experimentation

That cannot be stressed enough. I've browsed through dating sites before and been amazed at how many people can't even use the comma.

I get a pretty good number of matches - maybe fifty or so? Only catch is that even after I filter out those who a) aren't Christians (you can include religion as part of your criteria, but it doesn't go toward your match percentage) and b) I'm not attracted to, either physically or based on some of their wants and question answers, it leaves a lot of matches to message.
This isn't a bad thing, it's just where the "numbers game" comes in.
Truth be told, I'd rather meet a girl at church or thru friends and either hit it off or warm up to one another than spend hours messaging 30+ women a night and hope to hear back from 2 or 3.

Has anyone actually dated someone from CF?
I mean we have profiles.
We even have a chatroom (which Ive only been to once)
We have PMs
We have pictures and photos...if we want.
And we are mostly christians here or at least interested in learning more about Him.

Should we vote someone as matchmaker?

I'll be the Matchmaker. You can just tell me who you like and I'll check out for ya if they like you and if necessary want to move to the other end of the world to go on a date. You can trust me. I'd never just throw personal stuff on internet because I can't keep it for myself.

One or two may have even dated, and had it all turn into an annoying clusterturbine of ridiculousness.

Should we vote someone as matchmaker?

Several people have dated, and even gone onto marry.
Others have dated, and nothing came of it.

Once upon a time this forum was a hive of hormones and flirtation. Now... not so much. Messy is a good match maker, she'll see you right.

==============================

I'm currently on FL. There's a surprisingly active Christian community there, always pleasant to chat to. Especially with the freedom of conversation FL allows.

I saw that on a Dutch christian forum too. They have a list of all the couples who are now married, so much kids. I think at least 40 couples, but that was years ago. Accidentily someone drops in there to find a date and leaves within no time because they're all married and talk about the kids.
I wasn't here when there were couples formed. Lol there was a couple that met in another part of cf and noone knew they were married. She said it when a guy started to flirt with her for fun. Lol suddenly the husband reacted.
