Fox News was based on being known as the media that showed what the mainstream media didn't.

Yeah, Fox is known for showing what the mainstream didn't because it was misleading or false.

Fox News is cable. Therefore not everyone can see it. Therefore it isn't the mainstream media. I'm an example of one of the ones who doesn't have cable, so I don't get to watch Fox News. The mainstream television media are the channels that someone can see for free with a set of rabbit ears.

You are free to believe that we still live in the world of rabbit ears. The vast majority of Americans have access to CNN and FoxNews. There is a reason that these ARE the mainstream media hosting the debates. My guess is that majority of those who vote in the primaries will be getting their news regarding the debates from CNN or FoxNews.

The Media is usually biased toward Republicans. After all, it's the GOP Candidates giving the best entertainment we've seen in years.

Alright, I'm willing to learn. Of the major news networks which are "usually biased" toward Republicans?

Now there are 16 Republican candidates, with Trump, Bush and Walker leading the field. In 10 days, the top 10 (based on the average of this week's polls) will participate in a 90 minute "debate" In Ohio. The other 6 can choose to participate in a candidate forum on the same day in NH.

The first voting will take place in February in Iowa, NH, South Carolina and Nevada. The critical primaries take place in the first two weeks of March, and will take lots of money to reasonably participate.
===========
WHAT TO LOOK FOR

1) WHO DOESN'T MAKE THE TOP TEN?
Other than for Kasich who just entered the race, not being in the top ten would not be good for a candidate. His or her presentations at the 2nd-tier forum might be key to them staying in the race for much longer. We start with 16 viable candidates. Each debate is about attrition. Which candidate is just not appealing to enough voters?

2) WHO SAYS SOMETHING REALLY STUPID AND WHO CARES?
Trump will sy something stupid, but folks think that this is OK for him at this point. He is leading, and even losing a few points won't matter much. Also, he does not need to appeal to donors. Candidates not in the top 3 (Trump, Bush and Walker) could greatly hurt themselves in this debate, as others did in the last cycle.

3) WHO GETS US TO START TO LISTEN TO THEM?
IMHO, this race is to be decided from the three front runners, plus those who step up in the first few debates. Debates like this are an opportunity for candidates like Rubio, Kasich and Perry.

4) WHO ARE THE ADULTS IN THE ROOM?
Yes, for SOME Republicans, it is important that a candidate appear to be presidential.

5) HOW WILL TRUMP BE TREATED?
Trump will likely make personal attacks on other candidates. The open question is how the other candidates will treat Trump. Many have said that he shouldn't be running. They have the choice of attacking Trump's positions and statements, or attacking Trump himself. I suspect that a bit of both will (and should) happen.

BOTTOM LINE
I suspect that some of the candidates will demonstrate that they are not viable candidates after the first two debates are over. This is a good thing. This will allow the public to focus on fewer candidates.

I suppose that it is reasonable to say that a candidate who cannot even make the top 10 by mid September might consider dropping out. I would note that CNN will have 2 debates in mid-September, one for the top 10, and one for any others that have over 1% of the polling numbers.
Not certain - if Ben Carson is still in the top ten... i'd like to see him speak more on issues.

The top 10 has been decided yet. BTW, all candidates will have a forum to speak.

Those in the top 10 will be in the main debate, where you'll hear each candidate speak for about 8 minutes each total.

The rest of the 16 or 17 will be in the 5PM "forum".

Trump will have a clear advantage. People know he's a buffoon and it seems to endear a critical mass of them, so while other candidates could flounder if they commit a faux pas, people will expect it of Trump.

At some point the field will thin out. I hope the dropout will drop out (Scott Walker). I hope Cruz will take a cruise. I do think they're the most hateful out of a field of hatefuls.

And I hope that Trump will stay in the race no matter what.

I think folks are yearning for honesty most. That may be why Trump possesses a good chance.
He shoots from the hip and speaking precisely whats on the mind of many people.
His candor probably is a relief to most.... and if he were president his tenacity could be a plus engaging in domestic economical issues.
[Maybe]
He couldnt do worse than who currently holds office so i dont think ppl are as afraid to vote for him because they are comparing what we have [the worst] to anyone to take over at this point.
I work with ppl [and i would do it too if i could] who work 2 or 3 part time jobs now because of the 30 hour mark for bene's.
