I think it was a mistake to have done it - and he recognized it. My suggestion is to start a thread in the Member Services Center about it.

Problem is this
"4) We will never accept another political email campaign again. We understand now it can be polarizing and the email that was sent was not an endorsement. It was essentially a TV advertisement for the Scott Walker campaign that they paid us to run. Again, truly sorry"

Is only saying that you won't send another political email campaign, nothing about any other form of spam not being sent again.

WHAT ARE EQUAL OPPORTUNITIES?

When there has been a “use” of a station by one candidate, legally qualified opposing candidates for the same office (whether federal, state or local) must be given an equal opportunity to “use” the station in a manner comparable to the first candidate. Stations are not required, however, to notify opposing candidates of their equal opportunities rights; instead, these candidates must make their equal opportunities claims within seven days after the triggering “use” – which is why it’s very important that information about political buys and other “uses” be placed in a station’s political file promptly.

So ask about it in the Member Services center.
suffice to say that many members are upset about the breach of trust that has happened, and the misuse of the communications feature
whereby the Admins can notify members of important CF news. That is a very important feature of CF, and it should be safe-guarded as such.

But Flooding the Member Services center with complaints will only serve to divert the complaints--it won't solve the root of the problem,
which is "how are the daily operations of CF to be funded?"

Solve that problem, and then we can get back to business as usual.

It seems clear that member lists on this board are subject to be sold or given out.

It is also clear that the owner has apologized for using this ability to provide the list for political purposes.

There are many organizations that promise never to give out their lists to third parties or to use the list for any internal purposes not directly affecting the individual service to our accounts. This forum is NOT one of those sites.

There are many here who seem to think that we need to give permission for the use lists. I'm not sure that is true. It does seem unlikely.

which goes back to my original point of the need to revisit the decision of how the daily operations of Cf are to be funded.

And that's something for the owner and the Admins to work out. not the members.

CF's mailing list has not been sold.

Except that the email comes from christianforums.com, same as all the other CF emails.
If he is a member and has a system that blasts out emails to all members - its possible.
I can email anyone [or we used to be able to] - without directly having a single email address.
Its the choice of the member to respond to the said email for them to have the direct email address.

As an example to what im trying to say - i can email [or used to be able to] - anyone of you - and still not have your email address. CF sends it forward.
The only way i could find out your email - was if you replied.
Do not know if this option is still available - it may be. I dont know. But thats how it used to work.

Would be cool to find out.
No, I just looked as a regular member would look. Only option I can see is to start a conversation (In old CF speak, to send a private message). As an Admin, I could access your email, but I have no reason to, so I will not do so.

Short answer is, it does not work like the old CF where you have a choice (unless a member chooses to block either or PMs and emails. Admins could, and still can, push a message through either).
