1) Join an activity club - golfing, tennis, badminton, board games. Whatever interest you.

2) Join a Christian small group - bible studies, volunteer, fun activities, etc.

3) Stay active - do some sports (related to point #1).

4) Use free online dating - Plenty of Fish and OKCupid, etc.

I might have posted here already.
But I really have delved into hobbies, work, and trying to have fun when possible.
Now I have more time, and less effort with a close friend I'm finding I can do more of my own thing to prep for the one that'll be more of a prospect than a close female friend.

Watching Netflix is a great distraction.
Personally though I enjoy being single; I have a lot more freedom and less obligations. Being single means I have more time to do things I enjoy like drawing, writing, playing video games, the list goes on. I can make my own decisions about what I want to do with school/work, there's no risk of being cheated on or ditched for someone else, and, most importantly for me, no burden of being emotionally attached or in love. Of course, this is a teenager's point of view. I feel that getting attached to someone right now would be a hindrance. It gets lonely sometimes, but then I just remind myself that nobody would be able to meet my standards anyway.

Point is, for every negative there's a positive. Instead of thinking about how much time you weren't spending with a date, think about how much fun you had spending that time with your friends or doing your hobbies.

I indulge in my hobbies. A few years ago, I built my second groundhog kiln. I can fire more than 100 pots at a time. My favorites are politician jugs. Happy smiling face on one side (showing them on the campaign trail), the other side has their true nature. Evil, demonic, and usually with a forked tongue. Those things actually sell like hotcakes.

Since i havent been married before i dont know any different I guess, so, its not a problem for me.

Yesterday Mum was reading the chinese paper and said why dont you go to this? It was like this singles meet up thing.
I go why? I dont speak chinese. I already have lots of friends. I'm not looking for any more.
She then tells me take your friend with you. She might want to meet a chinese boyfriend. im like...uh no.

I should have told her, show the ad to my brothers.
It was weird. I hate it when people pick on you cos you single and assume you dont have any friends already..and need one of opposite sex who you never even met before. I suppose they well meaning, but they rather insulting. I dont tell people who are single that they need a girlfriend or boyfirend and that would make them happy. Or like one girl I know did to her sister

You better get a boyfriend before its too late!!! Dont leave it too late. Like threatening them with death or something.

Well I assume everyone here is single
I've actually wondered about this. At what point in a relationship do people tend to switch from the Singles board to the "Courting Couples" board? It seems like some people go directly from the Singles board to the Married Couples board, which means there are some non-singles here. I mean, I date, but it seems silly to switch back and forth between boards, so I just stay here. ^_^

I would think you're not single when you pass the line of friend to talking about marriage (and thst time between where you both agree to focus on eachother)to finally hitting that time where you're committed together. Then you're just trying to let time pass to see personality flaws and work out logistics.. definitely not single for the last stage I think :)
I think k since I don't have my rsther invovled platonic friend anymore I have more time even though it hurts.
When I move this year it think I restart my saltwater reef aquarium hobby, my csrnivkurs plants, a greenhouse, a secondary Cnc machine, a 3d printer, lathe, And etc. Partially business and for fun for those last ones.. So I should be buys and not desperate.. I'm told they can smell desperation from a mile away ahahah!

Ah and Good book. You probably don't want a Chinese guy if he has a lot of culture. Won't be best since there is a harsher elemtn of control and etc.

Well I read 1 corinthians 7 and it says women are happier single. Cos we just have to please the Lord, whereas women who are married have to please their husbands.

I think its easier for me to please the Lord.

Well I assume everyone here is single, what are some things you do that help you with being single? Practical ways to keep your mind from looking at the negative of singleness and looking at the positive instead.

Trying to do something for the greater good.

Sadly, a negative remains. Having a partner with similar goals will probably get me there sooner!

I don't do anything to 'deal' with singleness because I don't feel like it's something I need to cope with. Rather, I live in my singleness with zest and verve! I eat, I drink, and I'm merry. HUZZAH!

I'm merry.

So YOU'RE Going Merry?!

Yeah, I know... That joke was so last month.

To answer the OP, it's like anything. If you dwell on failure, then you'll only ever see the negatives about yourself. If you're on a diet and you dwell on how restricted you are food wise, then you'll always be hungry. If you're a recovering alcoholic, and you spend your days dwelling on how rubbish life is without booze, then you'll fall off the wagon. If you were once a convicted bank robber, and you're constantly dwe... Er, you get the idea.

The key is to not dwell on ANYTHING. Positive outcomes and fresh perceptions can ALWAYS be yielded from even the most dire of circumstances. Nothing is ever a 'bad thing' unless we make it so.

I'm personally dealing with the constant use of CAPITAL LETTERS to EMPHASISE my point. I've really got to stop that...

Hi everyone! sorry I haven't replied to anyone's post yet. When I came back there were allot of posts and I enjoyed reading each one. Very cool to see what you guys have to say and how your feeling about singleness. :) As for the one's asking about when they are considered single, I would say it's when your not in a bf gf relationship or married. Going on a few dates still means your single but might be taken very soon.
