all updates posted from yesterday:
Waiting on rounds and already he has thrown up a LOT. We are thinking it's from the medicine that we started him on last night for his diarrhea bc that's been the only change but we will see. This morning, he gets to have a full speech evaluation! I'm excited to see where he is milestone wise.

Finn hasn't thrown up anymore! We changed his PICC line dressing, had to draw more labs bc they are all screwy today and showing weird levels and now he is resting soundly. We are going to try giving him his GI medicine a different way to see if that helps. His speech evaluation went great and he is right on target for his age! We are also trying a larger NG tube so that hopefully things will flow more easily. He is taking a nice long nap now and I'm hoping to get him out later on a wagon ride!

Finn took a little break today to catch up from his 'off' morning so he didn't have PT/OT and he now just wants to rest. I don't blame him. Throwing up with an NG tube in is tough stuff! Poor thing got so congested but he was suctioned and now feels better. We will call today a mulligan and start over tomorrow.

Awwww :( poor baby!
Praying for his comfort and blessing :crossrc:

Well, poor baby Finn has a little bug. Yesterday morning, he threw up a LOT. He hasn't thrown up at all since he started eating by mouth/NG tube 2.5 weeks ago. We didn't think much of it but yesterday he was very congested, coughing and sneezing. Last night, he couldn't get settled but finally did and went to sleep. Around 4am he started throwing up again and it had lots of mucous and he has needed to be auctioned several times. Having an NG tube definitely doesn't help. In a brighter note, this new medicine seems to be helping his diarrhea which is excellent.

More good news for Finn is that he got to go out to the nurses station again and watch Octonauts; which he loved of course! He kept his fish paci Minnow in his mouth the entire time and the other arm/hand in the nurse's pocket! Silly baby. Looks like he will have even more snuggles than normal today!
Poor munchkin has caught some type of a bug. He has been throwing up, low-grade fever, fussy, and extremely congested. We are going to have a nice snuggle day and are watching Octonauts, his favorite!

Several outfit changes, bedding changes, blankies, pacis.... He is still throwing up and really congested. He has been such a trooper and the nurses have been SO amazing today caring for Finn. Poor baby. But hey, I would rather be struggling with this than chest fluid re accumulation. Such a strong munchkin!!!!!
This poor, poor munchkin. His day has not been getting any better. He is so uncomfortable and crying a lot. This makes his heart rate go up and his oxygen drop. He wasn't taking paci and at first I thought it was just bc he was upset but I looked in his mouth and the roof of his mouth is raw and swollen . He isn't taking anything by mouth so the doctors came in to take a look and said its most likely from his frequent vomiting. They are going to keep an eye on it and are debating turning off his feeds completely, pulling his NG tube and placing him on IV fluids for a day or two to give him a break and let him heal from this. Currently, the conclusion is that he had picked up something viral.

We watching Octonauts and Finding Nemo ALL day and now we are trying to get him to sleep. It is the worst thing to see your baby sick but I'll be honest, nothing beats these all day cuddles. I wouldn't trade them for anything in this world. He is definitely a good snuggle bug!!!!

Finn slept through the night and actually slept on his belly for the first time! That seemed to help him a lot. He had continuous feeds all night but at a very low rate. He tolerated them and is currently getting a bath and getting ready for Octonauts! I hope this good nights sleep lets him feel better!

Last update, he was doing some PT before rounds and looks to be back to his bubbly smiling self :D

I was out all weekend so I didn't get to update. But apparently, Finn went back to throwing up and not feeling well all weekend and last I saw he was still not feeling well today; Kelly was going to have a meeting with the GI team to see what the plan of action is.

last night:
GI came, woohoo! Those guys must never sleep. Finn's gut is very slow to drain so the amount of food he needs is just too much for him right now. There is a medicine that we can give him to make him drain quicker but the side effect is diarrhea and he is already dealing with that so we are going totry a different approach.

Beginning tomorrow, we are fortifying his feeds from 24cal to 27cal so the volume will be less. We will also give him less amount and slowly work him up. Hopefully, this will stop the throwing up.

His oxygen has been terrible tonight. Not even 8pm and already needed blow by. He was in a VERY deep sleep. Hoping that suctioning him night will help with his congestion. Typical boy, when in a deep sleep, you can't wake him up for anything!

this morning:
Finn's night started off pretty crazy but then ended up great. At the beginning of the night, his oxygen dropped significantly. It kept dropping so we got an X-ray. We still haven't received a formal read but at first glance, the doctors think it's only very, very slightly worse; which again, could be the angle since it's just a slight change. Today, we need to figure out why his oxygen is dropping so much at night. During the day, he is fine but at night, we have a huge change. He was put on blow by for a few hours but has been great for the better part of the night after that little scare. His feeds were decreased and so far, he has not been sick. Finn continues to be a mystery but as usual, we will get this figured out.
