Sounds sweet! So anything producing sound is in your computer, not accessed via the web?
Right, I can play my keyboard rig with no internet connection. In fact I have always been under the impression if you really want to use a computer for audio, and always keep it bug-free and low-latency, the best thing you can do is keep it off the internet.

I have been playing around with trying different roots for chords with my left hand. But I haven't tried switching the notes around with my right hand before. I will give that a shot.

Be careful not to over-play with your left hand unless you play more toward the center/right of the keyboard. I play more to the left & other than the root being played with the left hand causes a 'muddy' sound. In other words, if your playing a 'c' chord, play only c with your left hand or at the most c & g (1st & 5th of the chord)

Yeah, I can kinda see that.
I usually do play to the left a little as well. I use a 61 key keyboard, and I shift it down one octave and then play in the middle. So whatever range that is.

I am enjoying keyboard so much right now. It's about like I felt about guitar 10 years ago. I just can't wait to learn new songs, and practice. Of course 10 years ago I wasn't married and didn't have two babies, so I don't have quite as much time to practice now as I did back then. But I still find time.

That is good, I am currently not playing, we are between churches & in the process of moving to another town. We do have a church in the new town that wants me & my wife to visit & play. I play bass too, probably my 1st love in instruments to play

I really enjoy playing bass too. Such a fun instrument when you get the basics down and can start noodling around a little more.

We are about to change churches as well. I hope it works out well for you.

I brought in my acoustic bass for last Sunday's service, upon request of the worship leader. It was a nice change of pace ...

Was it an upright?

I bought a cheap ($300, which is extrememly cheap for an upright) upright years ago, mainly as a decoration, but I mess around with it now and then. It's definitely playable.

I just googled "P&W Keyboard Forums" and found this.
I had forgotten all about it. :)

I am almost four years down the road now, and it's kinda cool to look where I was back then just getting started.

My wife and kids and I did change churches like I said we were considering. We got in at the beginning of a church plant near our house, and it has grown a lot over the almost three years of it's existence. And I went from being on a worship team (at my old church) of 2 musicians, to now being one of two keyboard players on a pretty large worship team. We don't have two keyboard players on stage at once, but we alternate every two weeks.
We normally have 2 acoustic guitars, 2 electric guitars, a drummer, a bass, a keyboard, 3 vocalists and often a violin on stage on a given sunday. And there are almost double that many people on the worship team, who alternate each week. We have been blessed with so many talented musicians, and it is such an honor worshipping with them.

I am still using Propellerhead Reason as the center of my keyboard rig, the latest version 8.3. And I am using it a lot deeper than I was back then. I have a two-tier keyboard setup, a 61-key midi controller on bottom which I use mostly to play pianos and pads, and then an upper 49-key controller I use for lead sounds.
I upgraded my laptop to a MacBookPro recently, and that has boosted performance a lot. And I use an Motu 896mk3 as my audio interface. I can play loops from Reason when we occasionaly use them, and send them to one output on my interface, and then send my keyboard sounds to a different output.

My piano skills have improved a lot, although after reading this I realize that I never have learned my chord inversions like was suggested to me, and I still think that is a good next step for me.

Anyway, I just wanted to pop in and say thanks for all the advice in this thread. It was very helpful at the time and even now.
