Who can't have their own picture, no you have to see two faces next to each other and read how much they love each other and how great their marriage is.

I hear ya.

As a single gal who, at this juncuture, pretty much
considers God to be my significant other*, my inner
response to any form of borderline exhibitionistic
gushing on the part of others over their S.O. is this:
"You love your S.O.? Awesome—don't forget to thank
mine, because He's the one Who made him/her." :)

I see mortal romatic relationships operating more as
a metaphor for the Ultimate Relationship (and/or the
potential thereof) between the soul and God.
Whatever passion you see between those couples you
can multiply by infinity times seven and that's the
passion God has for you. Mortal unions only scratch
the surface; they're just a fraction of what (I believe)
is going to be the reality for every soul in their
relationship with the Lord, sooner or later.

The Song of Songs does a good job of illustrating
this, as it can be interpreted as painting a picture of
a love-relationship with God Himself.

*Not that this stops me from admiring His handiwork
in fellow mortals from time to time. God is quite the
artist, yes indeed....

chaela,
That is great that you can feel that close to Jesus. That never worked for me.
So I feel much more like what I think Adam felt like when he realized that all the animals had an other that was like them but different. So once God knew that Adam felt that He created a woman for him.
That's what I can relate to.

I believe the relationship with Him is way more fulfilling, but I don't see Him as my SO anymore, I dunno, weird. He's not my Buddy.

Do you feel the same way when the two faces are a parent and a child and the message is "I love my kid?"

No that's cute and a picture of my collegue who's gonna get married next week is sweet. I won't put up my grumpy face when I come. It's just that I only follow some people on Facebook that evangelize to see how many got saved and be inspired and now one got a girlfriend and she just bombards everyone with those pictures. I can't unfriend them for that reason, that would be weird so I just have to see them hahahahaha I saw one guy responding with: oh so you're in love? That's only 2 years that feeling and then it's gone. ^_^ He got so grumpy he couldn't hold it in. ^_^

When I get married I am going to have my wife make us our own facebook page and we will decorate it with all the things we do together.

I am even going to have us imitate that scene from Lady and the Tramp where they are eating spaghetti together.

That's cute. Please do add me as your Facebook friend then. I don't want to miss anything.

To be honest, my relationship with God didn't acquire
that romatic dimension from within the Christo-centric
environment (although it has been achieved by others
therein -- the practice being termed 'bridal mysticism').
It hit me hard back in 2011 and I was on cloud 9, in
'honeymoon phase' mode for quite a while (you can read
about it here if you want; I don't want to derail the
thread going too much into it here).

But I do wish I could transfer those feelings on over to
Jesus, since I am primarily Christian in my spiritual
background! Gosh, that would be so nice.

So I feel much more like what I think Adam felt like when he realized that all the animals had an other that was like them but different. So once God knew that Adam felt that He created a woman for him.
That's what I can relate to.
I think I can relate to that. In the end, a fellow human being
is a solid physical presence that you can actually see. I love
the Lord dearly, but, quite frankly, that whole invisibility /
intangibility-thing He's got going on does get frustrating.

This is probably why, as much as I might look to Him to be
the ultimate in relationships or whatever, it doesn't stop
me from appreciating some cute guy that walks by on
any given day.

Ugh... it's so complicated. :sorry:

Facebook is about as real as 99% of blogs (or vlogs) out there. It will only show you what the person wants to show you. You'll only see smily, happy people holding hands (or owning hams, however the song goes).

This goes for people who post limitless Instagram selfies (flawless!), numerous family vacay shots (we went here, here, here, here, here AND here.. all in one day!) and lovey dovey couple pics (nevermind the argument they got into at last night's party). It happens. Some of it is faked, all of it is expected.

I, personally, don't recoil in horror when I see couples being lovey dovey in public. I actually.. it makes me happy. I love it. And kudos to them for not giving a rip. BUT, if I were to see that same couple pda'ing over and over and over again, the authenticity loses credibility. True story.

I believe it's sincere. There are a few who are going to get married.
I only followed that guy I don't even know personally to see how many people got saved and then he got a girlfriend who had to bombard us with their slimy pictures. I just put the thing on 'don't see this anymore'.
Ah I'm not the only one who gets annoyed by it.
