• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

I have been on medical marijuana now for 9 mths---and I can only thank God profusely for it!! It took a little while to kick in, in fact, the first few days I felt worse. Then all of a sudden, shazzaam!!! The pain lifted noticeably. I can't smoke it--makes me cough like crazy and is useless. I drink it. .9 gm cooked in 1 qt water with 1/4 coconut oil in crockpot for 8 hrs and then 1/3 c sunflower lecithin whisked in. This lasts me 5-6 days--I drink 1/2 C twice a day. I am not by any means pain free, but it is at least, livable. Before that, with 8 tramadol a day, I was crying in pain and praying to die. I have never once been high. I rather take nothing, but this is better than 8 tramadol a day, I am now down to 4 sometimes less. There are fibro forums out there that help us have a place to rant and boohoo without feeling guilty or whimpish!

Thank you bb...
you are very kind.
Wow i never even thought about guys getting this! But it makes sense. All I have every encountered were women.

My parents are gone too but I have my husband and daughter who are both very kind and helpful. I am blessed to have them.

And I hear you about what people 'think'. Fibro still has the mantel of a 'trendy' illness in most circles....folks that don't have it, I should say.

I teach some adult education classes. A few years back I had a student from Colorado who was using marijuana for her fibro. She told me that it was the only thing that really worked for her. That was before it was legalized in Colorado and she worked for the state and could have lost her job if they found out. I think there are some serious side effects to marijuana but in the case of fibro I think it is better to be able to function normally even if it comes with these side effects.

You are welcome. Keep in touch and let us know how things go for you. Most of us have to use trial and error to find meds that work for us. If something isn't working, try something else. Even marijuana can help some of us, although I have not needed to try it.

So far---no side affects.

I saw a few people write about Low Dose Naltrexone helping. Thought to mention a new book came out on LDN, with the latest up to date information on it. The book was a good read I felt on LDN's many potential benefits.

The LDN Book: How a Little-Known Generic Drug Low Dose Naltrexone Could Revolutionize Treatment for Autoimmune Diseases, Cancer, Autism, Depression, and More

http://www.amazon.com/LDN-Book-Litt...457292104&sr=8-1&keywords=low+dose+naltrexone

Low Dose Naltrexone (LDN) holds the potential to help millions of people suffering from various autoimmune diseases and cancers, and even autism, chronic fatigue, and depression, find relief. Administered off-label in small daily doses (0.5 to 4.5 mg), this generic drug is extremely affordable and presents few known side effects. So why has it languished in relative medical obscurity?

The LDN Book explains the drug’s origins, its primary mechanism, and the latest research from practicing physicians and pharmacists as compiled by Linda Elsegood of The LDN Research Trust, the world’s largest LDN charity organization with over 19,000 members worldwide. Featuring ten chapters contributed by medical professionals on LDN’s efficacy and two patient-friendly appendices, The LDN Book is a comprehensive resource for doctors, pharmacists, and patients who want to learn more about how LDN is helping people now, and a clarion call for further research that could help millions more.

I knew lots of people that it helped---I was on it myself and it did help the fibro--however, I have other issues which it does nothing for. The pain of my neuropathy in both feet and legs is very bad and I had to have the tramadol for that--If you do LDN you have to get off the pain meds for at least 3 days then you start the LDN--the pain meds will interfere with the LDN and it won't work. You can take the tramadol, but the timing has to be right--8 hours apart if I remember right. My pain was too much to get off the tramadol entirely (went through the torture of nothing for several days) or try to go for the 8 hours apart thing--I finally gave it up--plus it is usually not covered by insurance. I mail ordered mine from New York. It can't come from a regular pharmacy, has to be one that handles compound meds.

Hi everyone. I was diagnosed with fibromylgia in 2000. As the song goes, "some days are diamonds, some days are stones." I am currently on Celebrex and amitryptiline. I find that staying away from gluten helps and I also try to keep up with my vitamin B12 shots. Other than that, I am leaning *hard* on God. :)

Amitriptyline nearly did me in---dried me up so bad I had to eat 10 prunes a day!! Then a dr suggested I take trazadone at night and amy in the morning---I ended up on the floor of ICU(I was dialyzing a patient at the time!) with a blood pressure of 78/34, took 3 liters of saline to get it up to 90!! Be careful!!! I stopped the amy and kept the trazadone for several years till it quite helping.

The amytryptiline was useless for me. It gave me horrific side effects - complete insomnia. I was bouncing all over the house all night. Then, my mother dragged me back to Mayo Clinic for a third visit and they put me on nortriptiline, which was just as bad, if not worse. What is working for me has been temezapam. It seems like different things work for different people. The main thing is to be really careful when changing drugs.

Phase 1: I would first do a full body herbal detox including several coffee enemas. Simultaneously, do an organic juice fast with lots of dark greens while you are detoxing. Avoid sugar at all costs. See how you feel then. Still having problems?
Phase 2: involves getting rid of the toxic heavy metals that we consume and accumulate in our bodies such as lead, mercury and aluminum. Aluminum in particular is linked to Alzheimers - doctors will never admit to this. We consume aluminum just by drinking soda from cans or eating any acidic food that has been in cans. The acid causes the aluminum to leach out and then we consume it. I believe enough of this junk in your body can cause numerous health problems and neurological damage, loss of memory, etc. Mercury is a toxic metal that has been used in vaccines and teeth fillings. Doctors would never admit to it leading to autism but if you look at the rates of autism 50 years ago it was something like 1 in 1500 births. Now it's ten times that. There would be a massive class action suit against the Pharma Cartel if someone proved it! If you were someone who could, they'd probably kill you! So, getting rid of toxic metals has been done for a long time with clay. You can take it internally (bentonite) or take clay baths (various kinds for specific purposes). The clay bath acts like a magnet and sucks the metals out of your sin. Since it attracts all metals, you need to use distilled water for the least amount of minerals. Then after the bath, take a multi-mineral to replenish the good stuff. I've taken bentonite internally and that removes many toxins like pesticides and some heavy metals as well. Check out LL Magnetic Clay.
Phase 3: Finally if none of that works, at least your cleansed and then you can look into ozone therapy which can heal over 50 diseases for pennies a day. Check out Food Grade Hydrogen Peroxide (35%).

Btw, if everyone did the above we wouldn't need 90% of the medical prescriptions that people take, there wouldn't be many people in the hospital and we wouldn't have these outrageous healthcare costs nor would we need to make numerous visits to the doctor . Take care of yourself, eat organic as much as possible, stay away from sugar and refined flours and processed foods as much as possible. It's your body. For the record, I'm 60 years old and have been to the doctor five times in 40 years and that was just for antibiotics.

When did you develop fibromyalgia? Which, if any, of these treatments, cured your fibromyalgia? Do you have any peer-reviewed articles from medical journal to support your claims that any of these has any effect on fibromyalgia at all?

Thanks for the reply and information and LDN. Much appreciated. And apologize for the very late response. For some reason I missed the e-mail. That makes very good sense. As you mention and from what I've read opiate pain medications should be out of the system before taking LDN, or withdrawal symptoms can occur which would be an unpleasant experience.

It is an experience one must go through for a few days before going on LDN though. you may take the long route and ease out of the opiates first before eliminating them altogether depending on what you take. The tramadol is not as bad to get off of as others. But still, you end up miserable for a few days before getting to the LDN and for it to work. But, when there is light at the end of the tunnel, it is easier to cope with. And it can take a little time to figure out the best dosage for you.

You won't find cures in medical journals or peer reports unless they are from homeopathic doctors.
Example: Dr. Oz just announced a proven cure for Diabetes, a complete reversal and elimination of it ( when doctors for decades have been saying there is none). It is a dietary plan that includes various super antioxidants, proteins and fats (and hold the sugar) for 10 days then a 2 month diet of healthy organic veggies, fruits, protein and fats. Three pharmaceutical companies immediately filed law suits against him and said cease and desist, take it off your website and that's that. They do want to help people get cured unless it's by their drugs -- for hundreds of billions of dollars. These three companies are being sued for bribing doctors and hospitals to use their drugs as well. Their business started to declined prior to this natural cure he presented. The whole FDA and Pharma cartel are corrupt!

Sorry for your diagnosis--been surviving this for over 24 years and God is the only thing that keeps me going. I had to come off the medical marijuana as I could not afford it anymore and my pain is back to what it used to be and it just plain sucks!!!
Good to hear you found some help. What is intensity 10 machine??

Oh no, that's horrible! :unamused: Haven't had any problems like that, thankfully. I'm on a very low dose of amitrityline and am doing well. So far, so good!
