I think all the Baptist, Methodist, Pentecostal churches I've been apart of the Pastor and spouse shared the minister. True the spouses role wasn't official as these were small churches and didn't have the money to pay two pastors. But the spouses have been putting in a lot of time, some preaching, all taught classes in some way, often Sunday school or home Bible studies. Many of them counseling those that needed someone to talk to.
So this is making official what was going on all along as far as I can see.

I cannot nunderstand hownthose supposedly following the teachings of Jesus and scripture can approve of same sex ministers in a so-called Christian church.
Whether people want to see and agree, there are several places in scripture that call homosexual relations an abomination to God.

God is love. One of the two greatest commandments is love your neighbor. Homosexuals are people created by God with homosexual feelings. Of course we would want to encourage the to have loving monogamous relations and sanctify them in a church. Also, they are entitled to the same legal rights under the law as everyone else by our constitution (Including the legal rights that go along with marriage).
Scripture also calls shrimp an abomination to God.

Part of the reason that shrimps are an abomination to God is:
Shrimps and shellfish are the cleaners of the oceans, they filter out all the toxins that appear in the water.
This is why when there are toxins and other nasties in the water we afe advised not to consume these sea foods.

No actually there are not. Abomination doesn't exist in the original Hebrew, and the only place that's used in the English Bible is Leviticus. Last I checked, Christians don't follow the old law. Wearing mixed fabrics and eating shellfish are also abominations in Leviticus.
And Macca, you do know you're not allowed to post negative things about LGBT people in this forum right?

This is man made reasoning as far as I know. First the Bible doesn't give this as a reason and 2nd this shows one doesn't understand the reason for purity laws in ancient times.

I know of two Lutheran (elca) ministers who are married to a lutheran minister (elca). If that makes sense? They did not pastor the same congregation though...

Please reference those "several places" in Scripture that "call homosexual relations an abomination to God". I would guess that each and every one that you could list isn't as clear-cut and obvious as you assume. (As so many of us have assumed most of our lives having been taught to interpret Scripture in way Bible scholars would call "simplistic," "incomplete," "out of linguistic context," "out of cultural context," and often just "erroneous.")

How about the rules on promoting sound Biblical scholarship? I have no desire to "promote" homosexuality. If you think that is what I'm doing, you are in error. If this forum cannot tolerate a discussion of the interpretation of certain Biblical verses, please let me know what verses are out-of-bounds for discussion.

CF moderation policy considers any defense of homosexuality as possibly OK Scripturally to be "promoting."
