I say "today" because I went to bed after midnight and woke up late today. It was a very exciting dream, and I've never had one like it before that I can remember. Anyway, it got me thinking about what Scripture says the reaction of the world will be when Jesus returns. For those who will ridicule me for my belief that Jesus will return one day, I will remind you that this is a Christian website, not an atheist one. So if you don't want to hear about Jesus there are plenty of atheist websites to choose from.

"For as in those days before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day when Noah entered the ark, and they did not know until the flood came and swept them all away, so will be the coming of the Son of man." - Matthew 24:38-39

No one is ridiculing you for your belief that Jesus will return *one day*. People are just skeptical of your claim that it's going to happen really soon, and find you relating any given subject we discuss to the apocalypse a little odd. No disagreement that I've seen with "Christ has died. Christ has risen. Christ will come again.". :)

Would you care to give any details to this dream?
I was near an ocean, and someone said something like, "Look, there's Jesus walking on the water!" So I started looking, scanning the water on the horizon until I caught sight of Him. He was walking on the water toward us. And then when He started to get closer He began running and ran right through us. Then I looked and saw Jesus looking so big that He filled up the entire sky. While I was overwhelmed with excitement over it there were some who were more interested in going about their business.

Interesting. Thanks for sharing.

I've never seen anyone ridicule your belief that Jesus will one day return. I have seen people ridicule an apparent fixation with the end times and tying every bad event or trend of our times to Biblical prophesy while turning a blind eye to those evils that your political allies are complicit in. It is not your reverence or faith that makes it difficult for people to take you seriously. You could, with some slight changes in approach, really accomplish great things for Christ.

Neat dream, btw.

He accomplishes great things for Christ as is. I am edified by LWU near daily. I've only seen a select group complain, and said group is the group that causes me to feel upset and as if I'm speaking to people of the world.

Just so that there's no misunderstanding for anyone. I've never said that I know the day or hour when Jesus will return. The boldest statement I've made thus far is that I have a feeling that Pope Francis will be the last Pope. But I didn't state that as something that I know for sure. I only said it's a feeling. Other Catholics are free to disagree with me. We are free to have a range of varying interpretations and opinions on Scripture as long as it doesn't conflict with the official doctrines of the Church's Magisterium. With the topic of the end of time, at one extreme is when people make a claim of knowing the date when Jesus will return. This is something we can't know until it happens. At the other extreme is when people act as if it's taboo to even think about the topic. But if we weren't supposed to think about it at all it would not make sense for it to be mentioned so much in Scripture. My opinion on the subject of eschatology has been formed based on years of careful study of Scripture, Church councils and Papal encyclicals, Catholic theologians, and the writings of Catholic saints, including some that have the title Doctor of the Church. I don't claim to be infallible, but my opinion on the subject is not something that I came to recklessly or overnight.

"For this cause, I say, when He [Jesus] had told all things, both the times and the seasons, and had brought it to the very doors (for it is near, He says, even at the doors), He was silent as to the day. For if you seek after the day and hour, you shall not hear them of me, says He; but if of times and preludes, without hiding anything, I will tell you all exactly."

- St. John Chrysostom, Homily 77 on Matthew

Just be careful you don't become the kind of person who just strings along these feelings time after time after time. Like if there is another Pope and you have the same feeling about him and then the same feeling about the next and the next. It's where you veer toward obsession and cognitive dissidence.

That's really cool. I wish I had a dream like that.

If it happens that way I will say that the feeling I had was wrong. But my life is full of strange happenings. For example, the satanic "Black Mass" that happened last year was something that I saw in a dream about 20 years prior.

How many details of the actual event could you have given me prior to it happening? Location, time, groups involved? I'm very curious about this.

Well, the reason why it was in the news was because such an event was unprecedented because of the size of it and the fact that it was basically state approved using the Oklahoma Civic Center. When my dream happened twenty years before it no one would have thought that such a thing would ever happen in the United States. So I don't think the details matter much. But I remember the dream because it was a catalyst for my conversion to Christianity. The dream started with a vision of Hell. It was pitch black, and I could only hear things. It was wicked sounds, howling, and moans. Then it transitioned from there to where I saw a bunch of people walking out of a place. And it was revealed to me in the dream that they were Satanists who were exiting from a satanic service. I remember that on the surface, like the way they were dressed, they looked like your average people. Around that time of my conversion to Christianity I was having a cluster of dreams where I would see into the future. It lasted maybe a couple of years. Then those kind of dreams stopped, and I hadn't experienced it since.

Thanks for sharing your dream. I hope you are right and Jesus comes soon.

I find it interesting how quickly people attack and scoff at you. The bible describes people scoffing at Noah when he was warning people of the coming judgment in his day as well.

This is all very interesting. I've never had anything like a spiritual experience (and probably wouldn't trust it if I did, too much of a skeptic at heart).

St. Faustina Kowalska's Diary contains the following references to the Second Coming (she attributes the words to Jesus):

You will prepare the world for My final coming. (Diary 429)

Speak to the world about My mercy ... It is a sign for the end times. After it will come the Day of Justice. While there is still time, let them have recourse to the fountain of My mercy. (Diary 848)

Tell souls about this great mercy of Mine, because the awful day, the day of My justice, is near. (Diary 965).

I am prolonging the time of mercy for the sake of sinners. But woe to them if they do not recognize this time of My visitation. (Diary 1160)

Before the Day of Justice, I am sending the Day of Mercy. (Diary 1588)

He who refuses to pass through the door of My mercy must pass through the door of My justice. (Diary 1146).

Also, there are these words on the Second Coming which St. Faustina attributes to the Blessed Virgin Mary:

You have to speak to the world about His great mercy and prepare the world for the Second Coming of Him who will come, not as a merciful Savior, but as a just Judge. Oh how terrible is that day! Determined is the day of justice, the day of divine wrath. The angels tremble before it. Speak to souls about this great mercy while it is still the time for granting mercy. (Diary 635).

And, related to St. Faustina's Divine Mercy devotion, Pope Francis recently announced that there will be a Jubilee year celebrating the mercy of God which will open on 8 December 2015.

"Our prayer also extends to the saints and blessed ones who made divine mercy their mission in life. I think especially of the great apostle of mercy, Saint Faustina Kowalska. May she, who was called to enter the depths of divine mercy, intercede for us and obtain for us the grace of living and walking always according to the mercy of God and with an unwavering trust in his love." - Pope Francis (11 April, 2015)
