I would simply say to use the name of Jesus,YESHUA MESSIAH,even when not in prayer. It's HIS name that causes demons to tremble and flee, and gives us the authority to rebuke them, and also any fears we can't overcome.
Nothing really complicated about it,unless you start trying to figure it all out yourself.
Remember that even Paul had a constant thorn in the flesh, but I am certain it was NOT fear or anxiety. Some things we just shouldn't be in bondage of,period.
well hope this helps.

Dear mimi75042. Jesus has good advice for you, work for Him, and Satan and all evil thoughts will disappear.
Matthew 22: 35-40: we are told: " The first and great Commandment is: Love God with all thy heart, with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. The second is like it: love thy neighbour as thyself." Verse 40 tells us this great and wonderful news: " on these two Commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets. God is Love, and God wants loving sons and daughters. What are we to do? In Matthew 7: 7-10: we are told: " ask and you shall receive." We ask for Love and Joy, then thank God and share all Love and Joy with our neighbour: all we know and all we meet, friends and not friends. We keep asking for Love and Joy, thank God and share all love and joy with our neighbour. God will see our
loving efforts, and God will approve and bless us. We might stumble and forget some times, but then ask God for forgiveness and carry on loving and caring.
The Bible tells us: " Repent and be Born Again," change from being selfish and without love, to be loving, caring and always friendly and compassionate. The Holy Spirit will help us and guide us, and Jesus will lead us all the way:
JESUS IS THE WAY. A Christian`s weapon is Love, with love we can overcome all anger and wrong behaviour.
Love covers a multitude of sins, and Love is very catching. Keep asking for Love and keep sharing love, and pray into the bargain. I say this with love, mimi. Greetings from Emmy, your sister in Christ.

One thing that helps me >

Paul says,

"All things are lawful for me, but all things are not helpful. All things are lawful for me, but I will not be brought under the power of any." (1 Corinthians 6:12)

From this, I see that if I let anything get me under its power, to make me fear or worry, this is a sin problem and so I trust God to correct me.

In prayer, I can get into God's love and being attentive to Him in His peace, then stay this way :)

So, if anyone or anything has power to get me worried or hurried or lusting . . . we trust You, God, to make us aware that we and our attention are getting away from You, and please correct and clear us of fear and other hurting and degrading things . . . so we are submitting to You in Your peace (James 4:7, Colossians 3:15, Matthew 11:28-30).

By the way - - if I am depending on things and people who are not God, and if I can be drawn into fearing what may happen to those people and things, then these things or people are idols for me, somehow. So, we need to depend on You, LORD our Heavenly Father of Jesus Christ Your Son, and trust You to take care of our special people and things in our lives.

"casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you." (1 Peter 5:7)

Confession works well as a prayer.
Michael, do you mean confessing sin problems? Or, do you mean confessing in prayer that God is our Father and therefore we do not need to fear. And confess that we are His children; so we can count on Him to care for us. I would say it all works :) As we confess and overcome sin problems, we become strong in love so fear and other nasty things can't get the better of us, so much. And this comes with growing, as well as praying. And knowing and confessing who we are with God also helps, in fighting our spiritual warfare against cruel and wrecking things which come to mess us.

"There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves torment. But he who fears has not been made perfect in love." (1 John 4:8)

So, as we grow and become stronger in love for any and all people, not only those we want to use, God's love in us defeats any and all fears and anxiety and worry and their torments.

So, about if confessing in prayer by ourselves works, I would say yes it does.

Also, we can help each other >

"Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed." (James 5:16)

So, Mimi, how are you doing? I just reread my post above, #7, and I found it hard to understand; so I have tried to make it better. So, you can recheck it if you want.

God bless you :) God cares about us more than we care about ourselves :)

I Posted in general because our mileage will vary, for me I experience the sin of others in unity with Christ, so confessing it as my own dissolves the sin so the light can shine .

but the principle from 1st John carries over to personal application, If we confess our sins God is faithful to forgive us and cleanse us of all unrighteousness.

Well, Jesus on the cross made our sins His problem, I understand. So, in prayer I see it is good to pray for others as though their sins are my own problem, instead of just self-righteously criticizing others. So, I think that's good, what you are saying :)

And as we get strong in loving caring prayer for others, we become strong in Jesus so we ourselves become more and more strong against fears and worry and anxiety and all their torments of our personality.

So, Mimi . . . as you get stronger in caring prayer for others as for yourself, you get stronger against fear and worry and anxiety. And know that we are with you in prayer; you are not on your own, in this. And Jesus is making "intercession for us", we have in Romans 8:34; Jesus is praying for us according to His own faith, with His hope for all of us!!! And the Holy Spirit "makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered." (in Romans 8:26)

And prayer is not for suffering and worrying about what you pray about, but prayer is for giving your burdens to the LORD and leaving them with the LORD so we are not stressing about them.

And the Bible does say, "Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus." (Philippians 4:6-7)
