I did research on the subject of a couple 'joined' and their becoming 'one' .
The scriptures do indeed differentiate between believing couples and unbelieving couples.
When the reference to couples is dealing with deity and God, specific Koine Greek words are used for 'joined' and 'one'. When reference to unbelieving couples, the scriptures use different Koine Greek words .
What this means is that when two non-Believers 'join' together it is a natural bonding. When two Believers 'join' together it is a deistical 'joining'. Likewise, the non-believer's 'oneness' is defined as 'to be together closely''.
This sheds light on the situation when one becomes a Christian and the other does not and they have children. The Apostle Paul tells all believers who are married to an unbeliever, not to divorce them (1Cor.7:13)......because "the unbelieving spouse is sanctified by the believer....and before the believer came to Christ...the children were 'unclean' (unholy in the Jewish sense)...but sense one of the parents found Christ....the children are now holy." (1Cor.:14)
