there certainly are a lot of differences between different religions, but if you kept only the 'good' religious groups then although there might be many different beliefs their actions would generally be about the same.

But should Christianity be just another form of humanism?

If not then what should distinguish Christianity from humanism?

I see over here in the US as well as in history that Christianity can have good or bad affects on those who follow it, and I'm fairly sure most people here would agree on which was which if presented with some examples.

Many people have the idea that Christianity is and has always been, and is everywhere a form of humanism based on an all-powerful, all-knowing and ultimately loving God.

And rather boring in many churches, that contact with the supreme being should be more amazing that meeting ET and Shakespeare both at once, yet somehow it has been dumbed down incredibly into a service book to follow.

Even Richard Dawkins agrees that the present C of E is harmless, often helpful, can help people live their lives through the social cohesion it promotes, and as long as people follow fair judgement and reason they should at least do as little harm as humans can do.

But it hasn't always been like that, in 1555 the very churches in the centre of Oxford near where Richard Dawkins lives were helping to burn some of their own clerics alive.

As far as religions and world views, there is usually some overlap and also significant agreements and disagreements.

Having said that , Jesus did say “Every plant that my heavenly Father has not planted will be rooted up." in Mathew 5:13. This seems not very politically correct and not a universalist view.

"The poet Steve Turner describes brilliantly what many think when it comes to religion: “Jesus was a good man just like Buddha, Mohammed, and ourselves. We believe he was a good teacher of morals but we believe that his good morals are really bad. We believe that all religions are basically the same, at least the one we read was. They all believe in love and goodness, they only differ on matters of creation, sin, heaven, hell, God, and salvation.”"

The secularists like to believe that all religions are equal except their own

The idea of the interchangability of wold religions is one of fairly recent origin. It fits well with the modern universalistic ethic, but it flies in the face of common sense. Religions are different, not just in their beliefs but in how they counsel their followers to act, and ultimately in how they influence the cultures which with they come into contact.

All religions are superficially the same - any reasonable amount of effort to investigate religion(s0 in more detail reveals they are quite different from each other.

I don't understand how you've connected talking about "good religion" with Humanism? Christianity is vastly different from Humanism (see - http://www.aboundingjoy.com/humanism_chart.htm) - the most obvious difference being the view of human nature:

Humanism - Sees man as basically good. Thinks that people should feel good about themselves regardless of their behavior. Tries to deal with guilt by positive self-talk.
Christianity - Realizes that man has a sin nature and tends to do evil things. Realizes that people have great value and worth because we are created in the image of God and for God’s glory. Believes that God has made each person very unique and special and for His glory. Realizes that God has a great purpose for each of us. Believes that through repentance and faith in Christ we can have our sin forgiven and be made into new creatures.

Humanism ignore the available data we have to understanding human behaviour. There is no evidence that we as humans are fundamentally good - there are numerous arguments that can be applied looking back over the course of history, looking at society today etc etc, that proves beyond any doubt that we are not intrinsically "good".

Basically Christianity says that we are basically "bad" and do good things from time to time...
