Since my conversion to seeking Jesus.
I have over the recent years collected some occult things, spell books, spiratual books, wands, crystal balls etc, (honestly hardly ever used them) not that it makes it right!

I have been reading my bible and researching as much as I can on developing my relationship with God, I know Jesus does not agree with these things, and I was ready to just go out and burn them when I got the chance to go under my bed (which is a hard place to get too< all this stuff is locked away in a suit case, but tonight I came across the passage in the new testament.

"Jesus said unto him, go and sell that thou hast and give to the poor"

I don't know whether I should sell these things, or burn them, some of them are expensive and I would happily put the money to the poor, but equally, I don't think it is right to give it to someone else to make their lives miserible either.

Any thoughts on this would be appreciated.

Pray on it. I can see potential benefits either way. On one hand, people who want that stuff will get it, so you are wasting opportunity to do good with that money and not helping to reduce evil. On the other hand, you might be supplying a tool for evil to someone who otherwise would not get access to that tool, and it might have equipped them for destruction (though as you know personally, it does not necessarily lead to destruction). Only God actually knows whether your sale will be ultimately good or bad, so seek to do His will. Meditate on this verse for a bit:

You are not your own; you were bought at a price.

(1 Cor 6:19-20).

Thanks friend, truthfully, I do not know if it has led to my destruction, (it might have!) but I wouldn't like to put that on anyone else, I prayer every day that it has not led to that, and it has took me 25 years to seek the lord.
My grandmother was a pyschic clairvoyant, I am the only one out of my brothers who isn't baptised, (but I am hoping to be soon) the reason I mention this is I am a sufferer of sleep paralysis and had some very negative spiratual experiences with this, (check it out on youtube) I have had it as a young kid (I don't know if something was opned through those works, I wont pretend to know, but I know it is possible, in an impossible universe) and being ignorant in the past, and not having a religious upbringing, I thought it would just be cool, but I am beginning to relise I have not helped myself at all, and want to be with the lord.

I can only prayer Jesus forgives me for this, but it is his mercy, judgement, I am relying on. He is the savior, and I get what I deserve.

For me, I don't think these things should be dabbled in (personal experience) but then, some people don't always dabble in them either, but rather study them. I will take it to the lord in prayer, and if it does not fit in his will, I will burn them and throw out the stuff that can't be burned.

I appreiate your reply. :)

Acts 19:19 And many of those who practiced magic brought their books together and began burning them in the sight of everyone; and they counted up the price of them and found it fifty thousand pieces of silver.

As evidenced by what was done among the early Christians, they burned their old occult materials. They didn't sell them. If you can't burn them, then throw them away. It is a sin if you cause someone else to stumble by making those materials available to them.

I think you should have more confidence at this stage, because you have already decided to repent. I don't know specifically what that required of you, but I know the way it goes. Doing that demonstrates actually you do love the truth more than your own sin. This means you are of the nature that lends itself to Christianity. Think of this verse: https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Luke+15:4-7&version=NKJV .. FWIW, I am sure He is furious with your enemies.

Claim your power in Jesus' name. Those demons will scatter from you once you know who you are. What sort of church are you involved with? Get baptised tomorrow, partake the sacraments today. Claim your power right away and rest easy.

It is interesting to see the verse that Seashale produced as an example of the early Christian response. It seems they did not think money was worth the trouble it would cause to propagate evil. Also, considering what Jesus teaches, that God is the provider and we should not be anxious, it is interesting to reflect on why we might have even considered that option. Though we both know what The Holy Spirit was telling us, and it appears consistent with what He told the early Christians.

Hi friend thanks so much for the reply, I only went to church for the first time today which is a cristadelphian one and I have mentioned I want to become baptised today, they were lovely and made me feel really welcome, there baptism is a full soaking in water, and are going to give me more information on the instructing of it or something (sorry I am still new to it all) :) but it is a work in progress, the guy I spoke too today is on holiday next week, but he is going to message me on facebook with the finer details providing he has no issues at his end, I am content with this. :)

My personal experience in the occult, is it is a very attractive area, because people, like to be in controll of their own lives, in a cruel and unforgiving world, this is what attracts people to it, (whether you look at people) who keep animals, or hoard them (they like to feel in control and content) and this is what I think is missing from schools today, I never had a religious upbringing, just a odd prayer here at primary school here and there.

It is an attractive weakness, and I can see demons thriving off that, yup, we will provide for you, and give you what you want, but you will have eternity in hell with us.

I am a sufferer of a phenomenon called sleep paralysis and have been harassed by the demonic realm, (even science doesn't fully understand it) one of my doctos confessed to me he was a christian, and to summarise it up, gave me his email address (which I lost) he told me if I emailed him his medical hat came off, but thinking bak, he was probably saying, seek god with this, since I was very young I have had it, there are some videos on youtube to show what it is and how demonic it is if you do a quick search, this is partiaully one of the reasons I am seeking the lord, in my heart I have always known he was real, but looked everywhere for answers but at him out of pride for myself, I know that's not true now, and I know I don't have to understand these things, just to trust him, I have probably broken every single one of his commandments, but I trust he forgives me for that, and knows I want to walk away, but it is his will not mine, I prayer every day, I appreciate your help and support with this.

Hopefully I will be baptised soon :) and have christ come right into my life.

Thanks for clarifying, burned they will be, and anything that can't will be thrown away.
It was origionally my mind set, but if it could help the poor then I would have happily done that, I am sure I can help them in other ways still.

Thankyou for clarifying friend.
I appreciate it.

That is fantastic! I know Jesus will deal to those ones who haunt you, and they should be running as fast as they can, I reckon. As for Christadelphian, that is a denomination I have never met. What I have seen of their teachings online has some good but some suspicious. I would nonetheless recommend following your instinct, if you feel they have your best interests in their heart. What I have found is that no single denomination has it all. They all have some deviation from the truth. So I look beyond the error, to see the people in the faith. In most churches, there is people of real faith, and as one should expect, everyone with real faith has some wrong beliefs. (Me too, probably). This is why Jesus said "work hard to stay on the narrow path, because the road to destruction is broad and many go that way". Essentially in this context what it means, is many people simply fear hell and desire heaven, they get satisfied believing their church activity validates them. They have taken the broad road, and sadly it leads to destruction. Comparatively, the road to life is narrow and difficult. When you are confronted by the truth, you must choose whether to correct your direction and remain on the narrow. Likewise, when doing this, which is repentance, it sometimes is difficult. The truth is not convenient, but some people love it enough. God loves the truth and hates liars.

Well, I guess I am enthusiastic for you! All I wanted to say is you are not baptised into Christadelphism, you are baptised into the kingdom of God in the name of Jesus Christ, and as such, keep listening to what God tells you, and question every belief you have. I have many beliefs from a Christian upbringing, it is taking a long time to work through them all! It does sound as though Christadelphians will encourage you to exercise power over sin, so that is encouraging.

Absoloutely, I don't truly beleive, any denomination is teaching the full truth, we have to remember that a lot of records were destroyed and captured by the vatigan etc, so I am open minded, I want to go to church if anything just to understand gods word better (and understand my bible better) I go after christ for me, and it is serious for me, it is my soul, and not anyone elses, I personally think our relationship with God has to be developed spiratually, and with heart too, sitting in a place made of bricks doesnt do that, but with what limited resources I have, I can say to him on my day of judgement, I came after you, and welcomed you into my life with all my heart and soul, so I do understand that it isn't just to base faith on the church, but base it on chirst himself and he will guide you and take me to the right places, even if it means going around all the churches throughout my life. :) hehe.

A relationship with God is a serious one I want, and he knows it, so I will trust that he will do what he needs to do to guide me.

I like the Church I go too.
They don't have a preist, a pastor, or reverand, but they see Christ himself as the real teacher, so the preaching gets done by differnt people from all walks of life, I liked that idea because in the eyes of God we are all equal, and he is the real teacher. Our job is to listen, to follow, and obey him out of love and faith.

I am taught that you would be doing a huge disservice to the people who would be receiving this stuff of the devil. It should be burned or otherwise be made unavailable to anyone else for use. It should be gotten rid of with out consideration of realizing gain from it; you should just destroy it, walk away and never look back

If you have not used them there is no need to sell them. They have no power over you. You can throw them away if you want, or give them to a charity shop; whatever you want. Those items have no inherent power; not a bit.

Meanwhile, sleep paralysis is normal enough, and nothing to do with demons.

It is always easy for people to say Sleep paralysis is normal and nothing to do with demons, until it actually happens to that person, there is a overhwelming feeling that is so horrible, it can't even be explained in words, the hallucinations are scary, but the feeling which accompanies it, is far beyond anything terrible that can be imagined. I have had involuntary out of body experiences with this too, (I submited myself to a sleep latency test to help science better understadn the phenomenon) truth of it is, a lot of it is still guess work, they know a chemical triggers it, but it doesn't explain the other things.

When I explain this to people, I say simply imagine this.
Imagine your scared (times that by a million) a sheer dark energy, that is cruel, vengeful, hateful, hurtful, mockingly, and just generally all forms of evil you can imagine being overwhelmingly powerful, overtakes your body crushes it, surges through your very skin and blood.

You see a demonic figure manifest itself, come up to you and either attack you.
Or pull you out of your body (sometimes even having hurtful sexual experiences during these epsiodes without being able to move or call for help)

All you can do is just sit there, and do nothing about it but prayer the lord intervines.
It feels like you have been sucked into a terrifying dimension.

That isn't normal, and while science has attempted to explain it, it is still poorly understood.
(personal experience) with sleep trials.
truthfully I wouldn't say it was harmless, this has damaged my life a great deal.
And I wouldn't say it is normal, (at least from an evoloutionry perspective of the human brain) it makes no sense that we would have these experiences, to the experiencer, it is a very demonic experience.

Are you still suffering this problem?

I prayer every day and for every sufferer of this phenomenon, for many years I was terrified of it, as a kid, my parents never under-stood it, I was harassed by a demonic entity I named the stone man when I was a child, not because he was made of stone, but because he had a very pale, cold, none emotional face, he used to try to tell me he was my friend, and everything about my body would shout to me, get the hell away from this thing, it isn't my friend.

I had another very strange experience as a child which may or may not be linked to it, but I was fully concious and awake, I never said anything about it for years for fear of redicule, and being named mad, my parents never understood it.

(partially) this is one of the reasons I got into the occult I think, I searched for answers about what was happening to me.

I turned to the lord a few weeks ago, after some attacks got worse, I remember shouting to him in my head, lord save me, they are taking my soul, and it never helped, but that's probably because I never had the faith I needed.

I got down on my knees to him, after watching some hell testimony videos, and a thought occured to me.
What if, what I am experencing, is a very small percentage of hell, a blip on the radar, and I have been gifted of this to warn others (I don't know) if that is true, but I will speak openly about it, it is a real phenomenon, what-ever peoples beleifs are, and I tell everyone, the biggest, bravest person they know, needs only one of these experiences to quiver in fear for eternity, if this place is real, we want to avoid it at all costs, the darkness grips you.

The night I fell to my knees and asked God to help me, it happend that night, and I said, lord why do you do this to me, have you abandoned me, but I wonder if he was just testing my trust in him, because for two weeks now, I have had none of these experiences, I put a crusifix pointing towards me at the bottom of my bed, and for the first few nights slept with it on my chest too.

I spoke openly with Satan (though I never seen him) and said, I know who you are, I know what you have done to my life this far, no, get out of it, you have no right to me, I do not belong to you.
I began throwing away my dragon collection (and I loved it) I began having a change of heart, looking bak over the last few weeks, I think Jesus has came into my life, and is opening my eyes to the traps of the enemy, 2 years ago I would have done anything to keep those dragons, the last few weeks, I look at them and think, you really are a pile of worldly crap, I don't want you.

I am having a big sort out doing bit at a time where I can, that's why I asked about the occult possesions on here.

I wouldn't even wish an eternity of that fate on hitler himself if this place is real, even his crimes were still only a number, it is terrifying, for anyone who does not know what its like, this video on youtube can explain it.

I beleive thus far, God has removed these demons from my life.
And is working with me to rid them from my life.

I have had it as a young kid (I don't know if something was opned through those works, I wont pretend to know, but I know it is possible, in an impossible universe) and being ignorant in the past, and not having a religious upbringing, I thought it would just be cool, but I am beginning to relise I have not helped myself at all, and want to be with the lord.

I can only prayer Jesus forgives me for this, but it is his mercy, judgement, I am relying on. He is the savior, and I get what I deserve.

Well, Seeking Salvation, Jesus is quite a Savior! The Only Savior and His Word is truth because God is truth. If His Word says that you are forgiven, then you are forgiven.

Bless you brother. I'm so glad you came out of that evil.

P.S. I would not sell the occult things. That would be causing someone else to stumble and definately not move closer to the Lord. Burn it.
