I might initially keep the leafy greens in it. Growing up accustomed to refrigeration, I've never tried alternative methods, but I've heard that certain veggies will keep longer if the stems are placed in water. Trial and error so far, but broccoli is next on the list to see how long I can keep alive in just water.

So I took my dog, Bruce, to the vet this morning. He gets his checkup and shots, and we get back in the car. We're halfway home, and he decides he wants to sit in the backseat and goes back there. He then proceeds to lay down on his back, and take up as much of the backseat as possible. Huskies: They do whatever they want.

Thank you Quieted! ^_^

Since discovering the magic of coconut and lavender oil and what happens when they are mixed together I am feeling much better!! ^_^

Is this some sort of topical application? What is the mix ratio of the two oils? It is used for pain?

I used it for an intense sunburn. and I used 4 drops of lavender oil to 2tbs coconut oil. And it worked like a charm! You can use it for pain if you wish, but I would switch out the lavender oil for a peppermint oil, for the soothing properties of it.

Ahh, I am glad that made you feel better! Lavender is lovely! The other day I made an aroma of lemon eucalyptus essential oil and clove essential oil in water with peony petals...can be very soothing.

Interesting. Thank you. I will write this down and do a little investigation before putting in my home remedies references.

Have you ever tried applying pure aloe vera gel to sunburns? When I was a teen I once had a bad sunburn that covered my entire back. It was so bad that I couldn't sleep on my back, it was simply too painful. I remember that Aloe Vera gel applied liberally worked like magic, I got much better in a relatively short time.

Never tried that coconut oil trick, I wonder how it would compare to Aloe...

Burns?

USE ALL THE ALOE!
1121885.jpg

After dropping an entire pot of boiling soup on my legs and feet....... Aloe is my favorite stuff.

Up until then I was never the type to put something on a burn. Id just live with the pain........ that I pain I dealt with for about 4 hours til it started robbing me of sleep.

Then the more painful task of putting on my socks, shoes and jeans and driving to the store. Feeling my jeans rub against my burnt flesh, socks and shoes constricting the feet that wanted to swell. Then walk through the store to buy EVERY bottle of aloe gel they had. Then drive home.

This bull aint one for tears, but I gotta admit..... Id have been in the fetal position letting out many of them if I were. Luckily there were only small spots that bled.

I never used to put stuff on burns either. Until one day I was out in the sun for 30 minutes and my shoulders blistered pretty bad. Cut off some aloe from one of our plants and it helped soo much.

Yep, Im not one for being a plant hugger......... but I love me some aloe. :D

I love it so much, Id hug THAT plant. Especially after a burn. I'd be nuzzled up to it like a kitten.

I rarely get burns, but even so I use aloe vera daily, and it has to be one of my favorite plants too! Tightens and refreshes skin, soothes burns, anti-fungal and anti-bacterial; it's great! :)

*Smells aloe all over Quieted...... starts nuzzling her.*
