• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

I remember one date. We went to the movies. I had to get up and go to the bathroom. At the time I had this thing about zipping zippers x number of times. So, leaving the bathroom I had to pull up my zipper. And for some reason this was the time my zipper gave up and broke. I had to hold my pants together and return to the movie. The girl I was with was accepting, but she also thought it was funny. She was cool about it. We had a fun time later, but it was cool she didn't think all bad of me.

Do you feel OCD has affected your romantic life? dating? If so, how so?
Yes.

In my cases of OCD, intrusive thought behavior is a startle, so any inclination to a "love life", I've willfully left behind. In my cases of defending my asexuality I often use 1 Corinthians 7:32-33. Besides the divine factor of leaving all to follow Him, the idea of intercourse sounds interesting and in some cases romantic but the idea of me being involved in that sort of thing is uncomfortable, really uncomfortable; and of course (the cycle continues) OCD doesn't help...at all..
